Glorious series! How beautiful is Eastern Christian monasticism! Κύριε Ιησού Χριστό, Υιός του Θεού, ελέησον σε μένα έναν αμαρτωλό!

I am a Lutheran. Before I knew the Jesus prayer, I said it ... "Jesus, Have Mercy on me A Sinner."

Yes, I had the same reaction as TheEolization. About her or his remark about the Pope...is that in our Orthodox faith, all Patriarch's, including the Pope, are the 'first among equals', not one above the other. In the early history of the faith, before the Schism...there was no Pope of Rome...there were Patriarch's which were "First Among Equals".

The patriarch of Constantinople is not of the pope's level (at least as modern papists/RomanCatholics view the papal office).
Firstly, all bishops are equal. The metropolitan of a small Greek island is equal to the patriarch of Constantinople, since they both have the same rights (to ordain priests, to take part in an oecumenical synod with 1 vote each etc).
The patriarch of Constantinople is the first to be written in the diptychs and has some historical BUT NOT doctrinal priviledges.

friend i think you need to cool down , the bible is not a playbook, its a spiritual book which needs spiritual growth , maturity, discernment and above all humility and patience, Acts 8:22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.,. ,Acts 4:30 Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus."

1Corinthians 4:15 Even if you should have countless guides to Christ, yet you do not have many fathers, for I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. well guess st Paul didn't know that, so are St.Paul and Jesus Christ contradicting each other?? walk in the light
