In his autobiography, Lee said the benefit of making this movie was being able to golf in Barcelona. Tsai Chin, the Chinese actress, is the sister of Mr. Chow of restaurant fame.
Not much character reference there , oh wait they are actors or as the Romans called them , prostitutes
Well, at least someone got some joy out of making this clusterf@#k of a movie, even if it was from golf.

This movie is crushing my soul, picking it up to stitch back together, then smashing it again with a sledgehammer.
lol
I thought that these Fu Man Chu episodes had been permanently removed from TH-cam, so it's nice to know that this one is still up. I had forgotten just how surreal this film is to watch 😵💫
It ABSOLUTELY has been, they must've come back recently for some reason. I remember always wanting to watch this one and not having the chance. About to relish the pain.
"Liner strikes iceberg, hundreds drown."
"Good god, where!?"
"In the water!"
The level of incomprehensiveness of this movie is incomprehensible.
I can’t tell if there are subplots in this movie or if it is all French surrealist stream of consciousness. C’mon, you mean this didn’t win any awards?
Inconceivable!
Maybe it's only comprehensible to white people pretending to be asian.
@@ManicIdiot
I do not think that means what you think it means.
So do you mean it's hard to understand (incomprehensible) or not thorough enough (incomprehensive)? Oh wait, both are true.
This is one of several movies directed by Jess Franco starring Christopher Lee as Fu Manchu, based on the novels of Sax Rohmer. As in the novels, Fu Manchu is opposed by Scotland Yard detective Nayland-Smith (played by former Robin Hood Richard Green), assisted by the Watson-like Dr. Petrie (played by former Watson Howard Marion Crawford). Rohmer was one of the most popular novelists of the early 20th century, comparable to Stephen King today, and Fu Manchu is his most famous creation, the archetypal "yellow peril" villain, spawning countless imitations, such as the Mandarin in Marvel Comics (Marvel actually acquired the rights to Rohmer's characters in the early 1970s, and added Fu Manchu to the Marvel universe as the father of Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu). Rohmer even created his own Fu Manchu knock-off, Sumuru, one of the first female supervillains in literature, and these Fu Manchu movies also spun off a couple of Sumuru movies, starring English actress Shirley Eaton (best known as the girl who is murdered by being painted gold in "Goldfinger") as Sumuru (though in the novels, Sumuru is Japanese). One of these, The Million Eyes of Sumuru, was riffed in Season Zero of MST3K (the KTMA episodes), and has since been riffed by Rifftrax.
Jesus Franco, director of The Bare Breasted Countess, Virgin Among the Zombies and Zombie Oasis plus a bunch of porn, directing Christopher Lee, who understandably hated his career, Sir Stanley Baker, hero of Zulu, and Dirk Bogarde, one of the best actors the UK has produced, in a racist Scotland Yard detective film with random inserts from other Franco movies thrown in. Classic.
At least this one isn't quite as sleazy as Franco's usual fare. On second thought, more sleaze might have actually helped.
I saw that episode when it first aired. I'm still in therapy.
Pot won't get you home , like chrome
Joel, Kevin, and Trace: the Golden Age of MST3K.
Kevin, not Bill - Bill joined as a writer in season 6, and then took over Crow in season 8.
@@analogkid01 Ah yes, Kevin Murphy. I’ve corrected. Thanks for the heads up!
Mike is better, and so is Rifftrax 💯
@@joshuablack8221 Watch your mouth, boy, you're in Joel country 'round these parts...
@@joshuablack8221I agree, Mike is definitely my favorite.
There's the rest and then there is MST3K!!!🙏👌👻❣️
12:35 A Babe Winkelman reference? Good lord! I used to watch his pattern fishing VHS over and over and over. You see Babe hauling in hog largemouth after hog largemouth then you pay a visit to ol Charlie back in the kitchen for a tasty fish recipe.
Boy Fu Manchu is going to get a surprise that instead of the scientist he expected he actually captured Rocky Balboa's brother-in-law.
8:50
No, it is not a Flemish merchant. It's more a sort of idealized version of the complete Renaissance Man...
Imagine the Saruman jokes Kevin could’ve made about Fu Manchu if this episode had come out after 2001. ;)
I’m overdue for a bag of decent pot, pizza and beer, and MST3K.
Sounds good to me.
Couple bong rips and MSTK3 !!
@@bryanburnap4537 hell yeah brother
The catchphrase of every stoner in the 90s.
This movie has certain flaws.
8:40 An actual Chinese fire drill.
That rooked rike a rot of fun!!
Is there even a protagonist in this movie? I feel like the entire film is just Fu Manchu wandering around his castle, monologuing to his prisoners and broadcasting vague threats to the world. They keep cutting to other characters every once in a while but none of them seem to ever do anything, it's just Fu Manchu 75% of the time and he's the only one getting anything done lmao
There were several of these movies starring Christopher Lee as Fu Manchu, and they even spawned a couple of spin-off movies starring Shirley Eaton (the girl who's murdered by being painted gold in "Goldfinger") as Sumuru, another Sax Rohmer character. As in Rohmer's novels, the protagonist in the Fu Manchu movies is Scotland Yard detective Nayland-Smith, played by former Robin Hood Richard Green, but he's barely even in this one, so I can understand why there doesn't seem to be a protagonist.
Who prefers Joel?
I prefer both…I feel they are equally great, and equally suited for the episodes they’re in ( whether as host or playing a small part)
I liked this movie actually.
COUNT DOOKU FU MANCHU
Deeeeeeep Hurting!
Fu Man Chu: "You're going to remain alive."
Tom: "...and stoned off your flabby butt."
Okay, that riff just f@%king slayed me 🤣
I picked up the Monty Python's Flying Circus reference..."that's a rather personal question?"
It kinda blows my mind that Joel was a pick for the Bill and Ted movies.
If you smoke enough pot, it's not that bad of a film. This IS the Mysterious Case of Mr. Wong, isn't it??
We use children to grind our hops😂
that painting at 1:11:08 is remarkable, I want one
“Clowns are fun!”
I’m not sure what’s thicker: the tedium or the racism.
Yeah, the British and yooper accents _are_ pretty insensitive.
I'll stick it out for the racism, but I can't stand tedium.
The inept writing is thicker.
How many of these lousy fu man chu movies did Christopher Lee make?
@@jameshill34035
Look at this shot.. they never should have let Shatner direct.. lol😂😂😂
28:20 Trump's bathroom joke
Yes, a burning cigarette beats all of the action!
Who did all the artwork? These drawings are both really good and really hilarious!
Crow T Robot in the 1990's: please for the love of god stop having white actors play different ethnicity:
ScarJo in the 2010's : I took that as a challenge
As of the typing of this comment, I am unable to find a plot summary to this movie, even on Wikipedia. This tells me how unintelligible it is.
Turn it off.. turn it off.
*Turn it OFF!!*

(mocking) Auntie Em! Auntie Em! (laughs evilly)
The only thing missing from this picture was actor Fezz Parker
so japan built a Titanic and it sank as well? what are the odds
i had no idea Christopher Lee was so multi cultural when it came to his acting

I love the fact that this series was done in Minnesota!!
Can you imagine any series being done in Minnesota nowadays? Maybe one on TH-cam…
Ya know Burt Young has looked worse.. 😭😭😭
Those high budget thesis films never turn out good.

Something’s up with your banter today … give it to us slower.
1:17:06 but what about WHY is Nilan Smith?
Wtf is going on in this movie? I have no idea
Something odd you-tubey happened. This is a 12 year old post and the comments only go about 6-7 months back.
Oh man, the *best* comment was from 8 months ago. Man, you shoulda seen it...

Larry was much funnier than Frank ever was.
So what.
Really?! Is that true?
Almost as bad as Manos Hands of Fate!
Apparently it’s worse. This movie came closer than Manos (and even Monster A Go-Go) to breaking Joel and the Bots.
