      not really surprising, because they're still students, they still don't have a full time job, and when Franck for example has extra money, he gives it to his family. No wonder why he's struggling financially. But it will change, I guess

    These guys are just too funny, optimistic and smart. It's the most positive episode by far. for those who don't know Congolese are known as the most educated people in Africa. They just love studying. I'm Senegalese but when it comes to the Diaspora Africa is one. Maybe one day we'll be able to create the United States of Africa because I love every African country. Love to all my people and whenever you're don't forget investing in Africa.

    I have different feelings while watching this video. First, it saddens me to see such amazing, hard working individuals present in a country for so many years speaking fluently and adapting to the local culture but who are still struggling financially. When I watch other videos where I see a white man from the U.S, Russia, France, Italia...etc, most of them are living the luxury life without even being fully fluent in the language or even respectful to the Korean culture.
    We still see so many unfairness in Korea, and thanks god it is changing but truly at what rate? Though it is good to see African people under such a positive light, I still doubt that they will one day be as successful as many white people living in Korea. Honestly, I would rather immigrate in a country like Canada than South Korea. I may be really appreciative of the culture, food, dramas and music but I know that behind that being black in SK is still a big deal. Plus, I don't want to be look down upon something I truly cannot change nor decide. Anyway, it's still a great video to watch!

    • @wonjinum2258
      @wonjinum2258 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      "Immigrate in a country like Canada than South Korea." Obviously, Canada would be a more reasonable choice since they are more welcoming to immigrants than any other Asian countries. They speak English in Canada as well, so really it's a no brainer. Also, just because there is inequality for the immigrants in Korea does not mean that Koreans themselves are also finding jobs and or living in a better condition. Korea (or East Asia in general) is a very competitive society. You're going to have to work hard if you want any type of success. It's obviously going to be harder on immigrants that do not know anything about the culture, language, and society of these East Asian countries.

    • @emylouish
      @emylouish 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Mate, obviously I clearly know the difference between both countries. And if you did read my post, I'm simply mentioning the easiness for BLACK immigrants to rather live in a country that not only will be more welcoming to them but also would be more appreciative of their hard work rather than a country where in 10-15 years they will likely be still struggling! Because of its competitivity and homogeneity, SK will clearly tend to favor native Koreans than foreigners and certainly not African foreigners. At least, in Canada their efforts will be rewarded !!!

    • @panafricanodominicano8135
      @panafricanodominicano8135 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I think you're comparing incomparable things. Franck for example even if he speaks fluently Korean, and he's very smart, he's still a student and he doesn't have full time job, he can't have full time job, and when he has extra money he gives it to his family, so no wonder why he's struggling financially and I don't think it's because of racism in Korea. Plus, most of white people on this show struggle as well. They have some difficulties to to pay their bills, have failures and have to work hard as well.
      The only ones on this show who lives quite well financially are people who are married with a Korean person (who has a full time job), students from quite rich family and artist people. The rest of people are struggling a lot no matter what their skin color.
      I remember an episode with a Black Cuban volleyball player. I can't remember his name, but actually he didn't have money problems, and apparently he was famous (people in the street want to take a picture with him), or this Black German girl who was a dancer during baseball games, and was the only foreign dancer in the middle of beautiful Korean dancers. Well obviously there are racism in Korea, don't make this problem bigger than it is in reality.

    • @emylouish
      @emylouish 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Geez I won't reply anymore! I'm tired of explaining posts like this! I am reiterating what I was saying both SK and Canada are two well-developed countries with obviously DIFFERENT culture! I KNOW that one clearly tend to easily ACCEPT IMMIGRANT as its policies favor immigrants integration into any sphere of their society! Therefore compared to SK, Canada is a heaven for many immigrants especially Subsaharian AFRICAN!
      Franck has been in SK for years and his situation is slowly improving but what if he was in a country like Canada or US, will he be facing the same discrimination and problem than in SK, I don't think so! I didn't even mention in any of my posts that SK was a racist country, knowing that racism exists everywhere!
      Most white people that I saw on this show may be struggling too but they are the ones who have more chances to succeed as SK prefer to hire them for jobs! Plus most of them tend to manage successful businesses without even be 100% fluent, some wants to model or to be actor these jobs are skewed towards SK standard of beauty (pale or white skin)! No need to be a student or married to a Korean to see that Blacks from AFRICA will encounter more issues in SK than White from any western countries! And no need to say that I'm making this problem bigger than the reality, Your comment or mine will certainly have little or no impact on preventing or encouraging people to immigrate in SK ! If any people of my entourage decides to go live there, I will be supportive!

      Jackson Wang here to support as well! 🙌 As others have said though I am so sad yet glad for this episode. Glad they are showcasing more black people but so sad that they have to struggle and put in triple the effort compared to other foreigners. It's obvious Frank (sp?) and the others in this episode are very smart and hard working. As shown in their proficiency in Korean as a second of perhaps even third language. It breaks my heart how their hard efforts don't seem to be getting across. I wish Frank/Franck the best ✨👍 On the bright side as Franck mentioned, Korea has progressed a lot in their openness to foreigners. This show In particular has helped bring awareness about the struggle foreigners go through. In that sense, I'm very happy that My Neighbor Charles exists. Thank you producers! ❤

    • @tomiabridgeforth4713

      This is because majority, if not all, countries in Africa are conservative and you need to buy your wife/bride or give an offering to the family or many other rituals. So its not like america were yoh just get married. Or korean were you do a ceremony and thats all. Comparing africa to korea is a big gap but they aint wrong

    Their double date with girls from their home continent is so cute. It is also reminiscent of when young Korean people went to Germany in the 1970s as Gastarbeiter, mostly female nurses and male coal miners. The organizations in Germany that hosted them and provided them work visas and living arrangements, also played a major role in their social life too, arranging mass dates and tours together around Germany in their off-duty time. This resulted in many unlikely marriages under the circumstances between Korean nurses and Korean coal miners who didn't know each other at all back home in Korea. Many of these couples moved to the U.S. after their visas expired and found success there as well.

    This is such an enjoyable episode. It reminded me of earlier episodes...good feels. I wish that there could be a programme with someone from the English speaking Caribbean or any of the Caribbean islands. I know they must be a Jamaican or Trinidadian or Barbadian in Korea....please....

    • @shelterlovely
      @shelterlovely 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Makai Diy lol that will be nice but from My experience living in Trinidad, the only place trini people go is America ,uk or canada.I dont think they can face the challenges of s/Korea.Trini dont like stress lol

    • @makaidiy5716
      @makaidiy5716 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a Barbadian, i can say that the majority of people from the English speaking Caribbean migrate to the US, UK and Canada as a result of historical and socio-economic ties to these countries. But kindly be aware that one of the main factors for migration is that the receiving country has policies that allow people from the countries of origin to migrate there. For most countries in the English-speaking Caribbean we do not have diplomatic relations with s.Korea to the extent that or citizens can move to S.korea and remain there for more than a year.
      Those few West Indians/ English-speaking Caribbean people that I am aware are in or have lived in Korea did so because they hold dual/multi citizenship and can travel as citizens of other countries whic S.Kore recognises such as US, UK, Canada.
      It is not that people in Trinidad don't like stress. In general no one likes stress. But there are other reasons why people in the West Indies are not present in S.Korea in large numbers.

    • @shelterlovely
      @shelterlovely 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makai Diy my people don't have any ties with korea too but we are everywhere in order to achieve success because where we from the country is not well developed and corruption is keeping the country stagnant. I thought the point of them coming to Korea was to take knowledge back to Africa, in order to help their country develop and help their people. Its seems as if they have no intention of leaving Korea.

    All I'm watching this, I just keep thinking that black jacket looks a bit young on Franck lol. Also I think Franck is a little too confident in his singing skills, don't quit your day job Franck lmao. But it's nice that he's doing that to showcase his culture.
