I am sure we can get used to it after enough time passes but yeah, change is scary, especially after hearing that version of the introduction for so long and so many times it will take a while to adjust.
It makes sense, she’s doing more stuff outside of streaming nowadays plus it’s does sound a bit more professional to lead as a “virtual idol” as opposed to “idol vtuber” It’s basically like an evolved class name change
Now I'm just imagining Suisei getting a class up in the style of those old GBA Fire Emblem games going from an axe wielder to one with a rapier doing those slick pixel-based animations in her different outfits
*puts on tinfoil hat, inhales more powder* ok hear me out: cover is preparing its move to go beyond youTUBE. Cover is going to make a subscription video platform on their own so they don't have to rely on TH-cam anymore.
I was thinking this morning: yanno, Suisei has that drive of being an entertainer, so even if vtubing implodes, I figure she's gonna be _somewhere_ performing for the rest of her working years. If she goes full Betty White on us, the Forever 18 ain't gonna hold when we're all wobbling in our walkers in time to her latest release.
This is quite a genius rebranding actually. I’m not surprised by Suisei being proud by this. Well deserved. Suisei’s activities has far surpassed the vtuber minimum.
Sui-chan was always an idol, but now she's no longer limited to just TH-cam! Well, she has never been but now that slight invisible barrier is gone! I will miss the original but I'm sure that I will get used to the new version of her intro quickly!
I mean " Virtual Idol" concept was already outthere. But it suits better in her case as she is mainly dedicated to music than streaming . I would prefer to say that she is a singer/artist. But since she is a Virtual character. It makes more sence.
I will say while this is weird, I also thought I’d never be able to get used to her ‘new’ voice post her throat stuff so. In like 9 months we’ll all forget.
calli probably virtual singer or virtual rapper though she isnt limiting that much to rap, its still her forte. Dad being a idol i guess only during holo fes 😆
This makes sense. I do think of Suisei as the most like this is just a pop star of the Hololive girls. Her songs have that vibe, she seems way more involved in like doing the idol thing outside of youtube
kinda makes sense though, she already less streaming because her other busy schedule, would be weird if there are new viewers from somewhere out there who doesnt know vtuber go to suisei channel and find that she rarely stream in youtube "why she is called vtuber if she rarely stream in YT?"
Just doesn’t have the same ring to it, especially when I’ve heard the old one for over 5 years Also, her song “True Girl Show” will forever have her old introduction ingrained into the lyrics lmao
If anything, suisei has always been more idol than vtuber. Compared to other members, she has way more stuff going on outside of streaming. So I thinking this change is fitting for her.
I think it's a great change, and one that reflects her growth in the industry a lot, it's also telling that she is more aware of her position after a lot more exposure in recent years. Having said that, anytime I say her intro myself, I will probably say Aidoru V-chūbā (アイドルブィチューバー), mostly out of habit, and something in the syllables just flows nicer than bācharu aidoru (バーチャルアイドル) might be just the stress of how the syllables are said? I'm not fully sure tbh
While I understand some people being paranoid, you have to remember Suichan wants to keep breaking the limits, for herself and for everyone else. But she also makes sure to keep a bond with holomem because she doesn't want to experience being lonely again compared to when she started. Don't worry so much, she is Suisei.
One of the best things about Suisei, is how much she cares about her identity and pursues her "ideal". I think this makes her MASSIVELY influential, in what is possible for virtual entertainers to do in the greater entertainment landscape. I love this change.
The change from "idol vtuber" to "virtual Idol" is actually big, especially taking step forward outside vtuber area, and competing alongside real life idol in Japan as virtual character.
I never liked "youtuber" in the first place, i feel like entertainer is better, as most of them use several social media and platform nowadays. And influencer feels like you take the community for idiots that do whatever you tell them so i don't like it either. Virtual idol for Suisei not only is easy to understand but also very accurate, this is a great idea on her end ! Also Yagoo is jumping in joy rn.
0:30 Suisei having so few membership emotes always did seem weird to me, she easily has space for several and there are many things that could be used for fans in the chat in addition to what she already has but I guess she feels what she has is enough and fits her needs perfectly already so no need to add more.
For you people who didn't agree with Suisei changing her intro is understandable. She always have been trying to break into mainstream, she want to sing at more venue, she want more recognition and show people that even if you are virtual you can reach that dream. Ofc she also have worry that she can't stream more, she can't play more with holomem and she can't chat more with hoshiyomi but that the price she is willing to pay for her dream, as hoshiyomi we should support her for that.
I mean she is a singer and artist by me, not a regular vtuber like anyone else (i listen to her song a lot and seldom to visit her stream. I feel her music is at level of any artist and singer out there.
i think the monologue in True Girl Show should stay the same, maybe an updated version would be nice like a 2024 version or something. Everybody wins because theres gonna be a remembrance version and the "transformed" version of sorts haha
I think this change could be useful for a conceptual game. Just like everyone else in the comments are saying, Suisei evolved from "Idol VTuber ---> Virtual Idol" The idea is this. There are 3 paths to choose at the start which evolves according to how much streaming and idol-related activities are done: Path 1: VSinger Path 2: VTuber Path 3: Virtual Idol And the path change could look like this Virtual Diva---> [VSinger] [VTuber] Idol VTuber [Virtual Idol]
The shooting star's trajectory has changed a bit, that's all. It sure was a blast from the past to hear her mention Kizuna AI, though. Really drives home how long it's been. Change is the only constant, after all.
Technically this would also open the door to her appearing on screen without a model. Obviously with Cover that's never going to happen, but if she leaves one day, distancing herself from the idea of being just a 'vtuber' probably would make that transition easier.
It's interesting she points out the TH-camr part of vtuber, when I think the word has evolved beyond that now. Fairly sure vtubers on twitch still call themselves that. (But it is still streaming, so it's not strange for her to change it)
To me, this is rather a good news, it means at least Hololive is being honest to itself and public and their goal is still very clear. Besides, I rather deal with the people who have problems with Idol culture than the people who hate the concept of Vtubers.
In my eyes the term vtuber of course started from virtual youtuber, but it became its own term now. Lots of vtubers on twitch that don't do youtube at all for example, still they call themselves vtuber.
22/7 tried the virtual idol shtick with Aki-P at the helm and that project was a shipwreck. Despite having the Covid prevailing wind behind them, they really couldn't properly hoist their sails. Hopefully, Suisei will have better luck following the Northern star and guide the rest of the industry to the New World.

The general direction of Cover is to make virtual idols and do more different off-stream activities and less streaming. That did not sit well with Aqua.
It just weird not hearing "Idoru vchuba no Hoshimachi Suisei desu!" after so many years. Gonna need some time to adapt.
I am sure we can get used to it after enough time passes but yeah, change is scary, especially after hearing that version of the introduction for so long and so many times it will take a while to adjust.
As long as she didn't drop the "Kyou mo kawaii," it is acceptable.
It makes sense, she’s doing more stuff outside of streaming nowadays plus it’s does sound a bit more professional to lead as a “virtual idol” as opposed to “idol vtuber”
It’s basically like an evolved class name change
Now I'm just imagining Suisei getting a class up in the style of those old GBA Fire Emblem games going from an axe wielder to one with a rapier doing those slick pixel-based animations in her different outfits
The question is what will be her transcendent class name.

🥲Suisei has been seriously outgrowing just being a "vtuber." Her talent is just too big
I'm so used to "Idol VTuber" to the point my ears won't accept "Virtual Aidoru".

So same "class" as Miku

Makes sense, got lot of work outside now plus she literally gone mainstream so it's understandable she did change her intro.
Like those old TH-camrs back in the day who abandoned TH-cam and their fans to make TV shows and netflix specials once they made it.
