Many years ago I played in The Portland Club cup ( an EBU mixed pairs tournament) and we started against Omar and his partner. He flashed a smile at my partner who went completely to pieces, forgetting to count the cards etc.
A nice piece of nostalgia. Of course, you don't have to play bridge for money. Most people play duplicate bridge, where no money is involved. Only skill.
To me I would think that either B or D would be correct. With 2 Aces in A and C I would think 7h . And a void in D , 7 could make too. So my vote is B.
The only thing I want to know is what the answer is to the grand prize question?!? B right? Has to be B. Can’t have two hearts or he would have asked for kings. B has a couple more high card points so it has to be B…right?
It would be great if this video could be edited to leave the two bridge players' appearances and explanations in and introduce new slides for the hands. All of the extra film's black screen and other artifacts should be eliminated. Finally, a good explanation of the potential for each hand to be the answer would be great. I will start off with Hand D-4 NT would never be used with a void. Can someone else carry on with the other analyses. Otherwise, I shall return with a logical explanation for the other choices. :)

When Omar Sheriff reached the summit , he beganto decline spending money on gambling , drink and women and he ended up living in a hotel in Egypt for the rest of his life until he died !!! We don't know for sure if he was muslim , jewish or atheist !!!!
Officially, he was born a Coptic Christian and converted to Islam when he married (because that was his wife’s religion). What he actually believed privately (if different from what appeared outwardly), I don’t believe he ever said.

Lead QH, and when it is not covered, assume the bad news of the KH off-side. Put AH on, and play AC then three other clubs, throwing the two hearts away. Watch your right-hand opponent squirm on their last discard. You hold S9 HJT DK4, and dummy has SJ DAJ76. The unfortunate defender has to come down to 5 cards from HK8 DQT53. If they bare the KH, ruff a heart to drop the KH, then AD, KD, JH and a trump make 13. If instead they come down to only three diamonds, play KD, AD, D ruff in hand dropping QD, and then H ruff in dummy and the good JD for 13 tricks. This is a squeeze-without-the-count. Dorothy's line is better, of course (she is a champion who among other things caught the lead British pair cheating at the 1965 Bermuda Bowl), but the quote above is not quite correct.
