The more Peninsula hunts i see,,,the more i know i'm Right. Back in the day, Guides had restricted area's they could hunt....so there was incentive NOT to over Harvest. It went to court and they ruled in favor of Guides being able to Guide in any unit. Well guess what happened ?? Instead of having a few Guides on the Peninsula,,,it went to a Butt Load of Guides hunting the Peninsula. I first hunted it in 1991,,,,,,,Stevie Wonder could have killed a Bear,,,,,we saw over 10 Brownies a day,,, it was Insane. I went back in 2007,,,saw quite a few Bears,,,not near as many as in 91 and we had to work a bit to get our Bears. 2011 i was back and got my Bear on the 15th day,,,,didnt see a handful and had to work HARD to get our 2 Bears. I dont think i will go back,,,and i HATE having to say that. If you were a Guide and get 30,000 for a 10 day Brown Bear,,,,where would You Guide ??? NO sh-t,,, the Peninsula. All my Great Hunting spots from the past are going away,,,,,,,and its Heartbreaking. Did God make Hunting a Rich man's Sport ?? NO,,,,,,,,Money is RUINING Hunting. Wanna fix it ??? Do away with the Guides. Dont even try to give me the BS of its the weather or any other reason,,,,,ITS been OVER harvested.....PERIOD

Tim I've seen dozens of brown bear hunting videos and literally not one of them said they eat the meat. What is it like?? I imagine it being extremely tough.
Well its tough by default…you have to cook it well to kill all the parasites so doing that to any wild game makes the meat really tough…so we cube it and make chili and burgers stuff like that and it’s very good.

Wow hunt says brown bear, but I suspect that's more of an interior grizzly.
Cause everybody else says brown bear smells & tastes like rotten fish.
I've had spring black bear & it's great, that said I'm guessing spring grizzly feasting on berries and such would be similar.
