that's because the female 40m runners are usually the ones that represent us in the event on the world stage so that is not surprising.

Big congrats to Nigerian ladies Bostwanian team needs to appreciate the lady who came second She fought but couldn't end at they wished. Yet, they left her even the Kenyans were celebrating with their team mate who won the bronze. It is unpatriotic attitude for the Bostwanian team. The lady was on the floor and none of them could come near her.

Reminds me of Innocent Egbunike at the All Africa Games in Nairobi, I think it was 1987. He chased down his opponent and had a wide gap to cover but managed to do it on the line. The then Kenyan President, Daniel Arab Moi called him Innocent Ebgunike the great of Africa after the race. Proudly Nigerian!

I don't think the Spectors or any of us viewing this ever saw that coming. I mean the gap has been widening and some of us have concluded Nigeria would be second. But 50m to the end is one of the most resilient stunt I've seen anyone pull. That's a never say it's over until it's over fighting spirit. Congratulations to team Nigeria, well-done guys. The handover from Nigeria 's 2nd to 3rd wasn't smooth nor fast. Wasted some time, which widened the gap between Botswana's 3rd runner and Nigeria's. However, the Botswana's 3rd runner is a faster runner than Nigeria's. A smoother changeover from 2nd to 3rd would have reduced the distance to be covered by Omolara, which would have meant less work and easier win for her and the team.
Well done to all the team members! They did marvellously well.
