In this video I move a couple loads of round bales to dads for our cattle. I run both loads over the scale to see the average bale weight. Load with my Gehl 6635 skid steer and unloading with the Ford 7600 and Kubota M125X.

My four by fives usually around 800 pounds of course that’s when they’re bailed and my 4 x 4‘s are usually around 450 pounds I would figure those might be a little bit heavier then when you’re baled because of the outer crust being wet? Even though they’re 5 x 5 so they should be quite a bit heavier than a 4 x 5

An 800 lbs 4x5 is equivalent to a 1000 lbs 5x5 if density of the bales are the same. When you go larger in diameter there is more of a difference than going longer, or wider depending on how you look at it. I don’t think they actually gain any weight from setting out and getting wet. They actually dry really well after a rain. I’d say you would gain some weight if you weighed right after a big rain. But I don’t think they would permanently gain weight. Thanks for the comment and watching.
