The "Monopo-lie" is 'affectionally' called the "Dirty Monopoly", in the Catan Community. Good video. It's similar to one sketch idea that I have brewing in my mind for a while, which will be titled "How to be a jerk at Catan". Though my idea would focus on Catan specific 'plays', as opposed to general mind games and table talk.
Sounds like a fun sketch. Curious what specific plays you have in mind. There are probably a lot considering how much scheming can happen in a game lol

@@KenPlaysCatan The sketch would take place in my kitchen, so yes. And at the risk of spoilers, the last point WOULD be throwing the dice across the board. That would be the straw that break the camels back, ending up with me being thrown out of my house, like Jazz from Fresh Prince.
If you are gonna mulligan, don't do it during a tournament, ask your friends and everyone else politely, and if they say yes use it as a learning experience so that you make the mistake less often and mulligan less. I play Mtg and have made many mistakes because I'm bad at reading the board state. Bonus tip: If you need to mulligan your starting hand, don't overcomplicate your shuffle. This might sound like a tip already established, but I seem to draw similar hands in a 100 card singletins format more often for some reason no matter my shuffle.
There is no way a tournament would ever allow a mulligan, might be an instant DQ lol. But yes, I would add that it's better to take your time picking initial placements. It's literally the most important turn of the game. Tournaments don't really rush you to pick either cause they understand that.
I don't see how telling the scores are hated. In my Catan club, everyone does that. In fact, it is a very basic element when it comes to playing Catan competitively.

I do the counting as well, in order to justify stealing from stronger players. You know how people can get emotional sometimes when they get stolen from multiple times in a row;)
I think you forgot one, when a 7 rolls people tend to lie/cheat with the amount of cards they have by miscounting or hiding some of their cards. This brings out the worst in the game in my opinion, you always have to stay sharp and become suspicious of others. I actually played with a person who got busted twice doing this.

I did the monopoly thing to extended family then i suffered the he will never win again at this game because he is the most skilled player here so suffer the king maker and the delays until well its late so we need to call the game early oh I'm on the lead after my turn and you have a full grip of cards to play and win. Well I win. Also had them rob me with no cards in hand due to principal. I no longer play games with them so yeah
Kingmaking is just shit. When your playing with rookie board gamers and they do this, man its so infuriating, they don't understand the etiquette. Edit: ive also noticed youve been chaning your thumbnails and titles around to see what gets more audience. For the catan is broken and trading videos, keep it how it was intially. Those thumnails and titles is why I subbed to your channel

Leo, kingmaker is actually a legit strategy in high level games. It only gets shitty when done illogically.
