I've done this to guitars. Unfortunately I thought the title of this video referred to playing when you have arthritis and carpal tunnel, which I have.
Thank you! I haven't started yet. I'm glad I found your video.
1st of all, Matt thank you for this idea and step-by-step explanation!
What cleaner did you use?
Yeah I bought those green pads myself because youtube told me but I've never used them they look very scratchy .With my clear coated necks I wasted my time with super fine paper at first but sound found out 320 600 and 1000 are all you need That will turn it from a sticky gloss to a silky smooth satin in no time .Give it a few min with all three and keep going a few min at a time til it feels perfect ..I usually seal it with Monty's instrument food when I'm sure it's sanded enough.
Pro Pain is such a boomer Butt Rock band name. Truly awful. I love it.
I see what you meant about the steel wool, I guess if you use steel wool then it would def become slick and sticky again, good job on this tutorial, this method would most probably work with long hours of playing
The biggest problem with steel wool is that it oxidizes super easy. Then the tiny tiny bits of metal floating around looking magnets. It’s a messy potentially harmful medium. You don’t want corrosion fuel on your hardware and pups.
Yeah. I can’t stand painted necks. Which is why I was never into Les Paul’s and others that have painted necks. I did run across a Hamer Chapparal Custom back in the 80’s that I couldn’t live without. After about the 3rd show, I sanded the back of the neck. Played slicker than snot on a door knob after that!
Whoever’s doing the production on the video is doing an outstanding job. Very very nice. 👍

I'm honestly happy that my neck doesn't get sticky as often as a metalcore guitarist's guitar gets in the deep south...However, my fretboard seems to get dry beyond belief.
Thank you for this tips. ❤
What guitar cleaner did you use in the video
honestly i kinda like the stickyness
Great video! I've used 0000 steel wool for years on all my necks. I never worry about taping off personally but I'm never worried about looks.
