The keypad was not angry but it was beeping because, it was in a fire alarm. That beeping of the keypad while in alarm helps fire fighters find the keypad or annunciator or panel so they can find you and make a rescue.
The thingy is called a resistor. It supervises the zone. That is so if you were to drive a nail into the cable and slice the wire, it will give the control panel a trouble and then you'll know to fix it. Very important. That resistor also supervises the smoke detector heads. Why? Well, a System Sensor 2400 and 1400 series smoke detector is head wired, not removable without unwiring it and so, it's just going to sit there. However, in most security systems, I use the System Sensor i3 smoke detectors. The System Sensor i3 is base wired. With that said, the System Sensor i3 has a detachable head. What is so significant about that? Everyone has done this. You've done this, I've done this. I have a security system in my house and every time I do work that might generate fog or dust, I stand on a step ladder or a piano stool and twist off the smoke detector head and drop it in a desk drawer so I don't set it off on accident and then put it right back when finished. Well, with line supervision, it will sound a trouble at the keypad to remind you to put the smoke detector back. Well, that thingy, called a resistor will make that trouble happen for you.

Todas las zonas trabajan con una resistencia de 1 Kohms, ecepto la zona 10 que trabaja con 3 Kohms

Alarm programming for dummies or for people that don't have a clue that the instructor has no idea what he is doing.
