@@171JUSTIN In most cases, you're way better off running your own multi-channel amp and new wires for your door speakers. It's just a pain in the ass compared to just replacing a head unit, since the interior has to come mostly undone to run the new wires and pull the old stuff.

There's only 1 sub output on these Chinese units because they output in a mono signal for the subwoofer channel. If you want your subwoofer controls to work on the head unit you need to use a single to dual RCA splitter cable. The way you have it right now your subwoofer control on your amplifier setting on your head unit won't do anything, only your fader will let you turn up or down the sub. I have an Xtrons unit in my VW R32 and I absolutely LOVE it. They are awesome units.

    @Kathisbuecherstapel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

hey robbie! you have done a pretty nice job! i like it that you look at the fine details for your build! very clean!
i have some information just in case you wanna know.
first up every speaker is 1 channel for the amplifier. you got a 2 channel kenwood amp for the sub!
so the sub needs just 1 channel. but you can squeeze more power out of the amp for the sub in brigded mode, so you are just using one + of channel 1 of the amp and one - of the channel 2. (only advisable if the sub is a 4 ohm model and the amp can power a 2 ohm bridge, or the sub is 2 ohm and the amp can power 1 ohm, and so on. it should be in the manual of the amp whats possible.)
second, because the sub is in most cases 1 channel (when brigded, 2 channels are occupied of the amp) you only have one sub out at the radio! its also called mono sub out.
so if you bridge the amp for the sub you need both rca cabels plugged for the amp. its good that you have put it in the rear speaker ones at the radio.
You need a lowpass filter, to filter the upper hertz range away from the sub. then the sub can play more powerfull, with more control and its sounding way nicer. on top of that its a safety for the sub. the sub is not build for high frequencies. as a rule of thumb, you need a lowpass filter at 80 -100hz with a flank steepness of -12db. it should be described in the manual once more of the amp or the radio. most of the time, both devices should have a lowpass and highpass. highpass is the other way around, it filters away the bass part of the signal, commonly used for the tweeters and mid speakers.
each line of the rca cable is 1 channel, it is red and black marked for the 2 channels it can support. but the important thing to know is that each of them is plus and minus at once. for each channel there is +- in every plug.
the next thing i would advise you is to not run the rca with the thick power cabels or even the speaker wires. for the sub its not so problematic, but when you route the rca with the front speaker wires and the power cables, then it is possible to hear a high pitch noise from the generator, it goes up with the rpm´s, its really annoying :P
the squeaking noise of your rear speaker is problably the bose amp with some short circuit at the wires somewhere. to check if the rear speakers are okay you need an OHM meter. just measure the speaker connector with it (it does not have a direction, a speaker cannot be false plugged. +- are only for suggestions to let every speaker play together and not with a phase reversal. if its all speakers wired the other way around its also fine.) you should have a value around 2 - 8 ohms, sometimes more. then its good. if the speaker is broken, its a short circuit.
if you want more information, i would be glad to hear from you!
i hope i have described everything right, my english is not the yellow from the egg. german pun :P

I have a few tips based on my knowledge of car audio... you should definitely get a 2-to-1 adapter for the "sub" input on the back of the head unit, or I think you can just plug in the left channel only for mono (you are technically using the rear speaker inputs, so any "sub" audio settings will not be applied). Also believe the horrible sound from the rear speakers are coming from a secondary bose amp that u should just bypass. And last, im concerned about the sub amp overheating inside the styrofoam, although u may be fine if it doesn't get too hot up there plus u aren't gonna daily drive it... other that that, it was a very clean & sexy install bro!

1 thing to remember with factory Bose systems, EACH speaker has its own amp. Your sub is a JL Audio W3. JL subs go from W1, the lowest, up to W7. W3 is middle of the road and still badass. I have a JL Stealbox in my 2007 Xterra that comes with a 12" W3 and it shakes the truck.

Robbie - Great video. Are you still happy with the ATOTA? Sound quality, ease of use, etc. Did you add front and rear cameras? If so, does the system work well? Thanks!

I'd do a led conversion on the tails, keep the original look and shape just in led form, like an led outline

I might sound like an old man here but LEDs will make the Z look super cheap and tacky, I might be proved wrong tho who knows

you just need to get a splitter for the sub, right now its on the rear speaker output which means you cant set it up right on the head unit.

Alright, first things first. The deck that was in there was after market and not stock, thats why the bose speakers weren't hooked up and only the doors were connected. There is some bose amps still getting power, thats why when connected you get that whine. My guess is your door speakers arent stock either. That bose stuff is junk, it was when it was new. Your best bet would be to just replace the rears with some new speakers and run new wires to the head unit. Trying to figure out the bose amp system isnt worth the effort (high power speaker outputs from the deck wont mesh with the bose amps). Second pull the deck back out and hook the rca's to the sub output, subs are mono. Hooking them up to the rear output sends a full range signal to the amp and will distort your base, the sub output filters out the high end. I really like the looks of the deck, might have to pick one of those up.
