the main advantage to the platform, mentioned here (as a downside to pinpoint), is that it prevents you from rotating/opening up early. most of the club level players I see (myself included) as well as even some pros, have the tendency to bring the back foot (way) forward. I've just switched (or am switching), and it seems that keeping the foot back gives me a lot easier power, as well as way easier spin. Flat serves are the only thing that seems more difficult. Pinpoint does feel a bit more "natural" but i like the results better with platform.

I used to think choosing a stance would be a big deal, but then I saw a video of Isner, Raonic, and I think Opelka, all warming up their serves, and they all used kind of a casual platform stance like this, not bothering to do any step or have really wide feet. Not surprisingly, their warm-up serves were all something most players would love to have. I realized there's not as much difference as I thought, and if couldn't serve well out of a simple platform, changing stances wouldn't solve my issues.

Well, you made a video to practice your toss 5 minutes every day. I realize that I like to coil and put my weight on back foot and start the toss while shifting my weight forward… so then it started feeling a natural rhythm stepping the back foot in as I toss. I cant tell yet if my serve is better. It is not slower, and I am so much quicker to the service line after my serve. So I think if even same power it is worth it to be closer to the net.

Very informative video. Simplicity usually leads to consistency and consistency comes well ahead of power for recreational players whether it's tennis, golf etc.
