Great fast find of 200 year old ring! That first beach gave me the creeps!! So dark, muddy and trash filled, I'd hesitate to even enter the water. You are so dedicated to the hunt the conditions don't deter you at all! You are a hero, as the lady said!

Moral of the story - Do Not wear 200 year old family inheritance jewelry to go swimming on a beach!

Always enjoy your videos! If you know the lifeguards and they allow it, maybe you can build a dredge basket to help pull all garbage up. My detecting club does it at an old lake. We toss it off the dock and pull it to the shore cleaning up heaps of old trash to get to the old coins. Best of luck!

Too bad you couldn't go to Virginia Beach, Virginia and find my daughter's wedding and engagement ring set! They are yellow gold wide band and narrower diamond solitaire, soldered together, and lost when she wore them while visiting family from out of state. She had recently lost weight, and they went early in the season while the water was still colder than it would get later on. It shrunk her finger a little more, and when she flung her arms up in the air playing with the kids, her rings went flying through the air - "lost and gone forever, Clementine!" She saw where they hit, but never could find them. Probably buried in all that sand from the water currents kicked up in the process. Very sad. 😭
Very nice video of the recovery of this ring. Although I will never understand why anyone would think it's a good idea to wear a 200 year old diamond ring that is a family heirloom to the beach to go swimming! 🤔

12:31 I'm thinking if that girl who just this second got her 200-yr old ring back doesn't quit waving her hands in the wind, fingers spread, in four feet of water, Michael will be searching he bottom for it again in five minutes. She has no idea what risk she is taking with that loosey-goosey ring on her finger, waving her hands around like that - no doubt that's how she lost it the first time.

hi, been detecting under water for the past 28 years - dive 1, thats my usual search conditions on almost every dive.. I always wear gloves and still reach into the mud slowly and carefully! the dangerous stuff is not rusty cans but broken glass - glass breaks differently under water, forming much sharper and dagger-like shards which would go right through your hand no matter how carefully you reach into the mud. you will probably make this experience one day and then start wearing gloves. For technique:on deeper Targets, put your hand into the mud and *then* start moving it around to feel for the object - this way you wont stir up so much mud. in many cases, you can even shove the trash object aside without lifting it out of the mud. this way, you will not mess up your viz quite as bad.

Awesome video. Michael. Can you please help me with something. Through another vid you did I had asked you for the information on your shovel. You gave me the name but I had for gotten the make of the shovel, remember I had asked if you could make one for me.
I do feel I can make it.
My question is what is the correct angle degree that you burn the plastic near where you place your foot . So that angle is perfect so that I can use it while detecting my beaches near the shore or chest level water or when I shorten my Sea Hunter Mark 2 and just ride the current while metal detecting. I love picking up the trash it does not bother me at all. Please help me with that question and the question is how many degrees do I slow burn and to what degrees.
Thank you mate for encouraging me. I find more corroded monies and very few rings because my Sea Hunter is new so I am still in the process of learning he different sounds.
Thank you in advance for helping me to be able to find the right polycarbonate shovel and showing me how to cut off the un needed parts and to rightly cut and drill the rest.
    Thank u Michael in advance

Michael Oliver That is absolutely fantastic, Michael. With your passion, drive, determination, and genuine care for your "customers" I have no doubt that some day soon that dream will become a reality. Like I said last weekend, l really get excited for Saturdays because I know you will be posting another video. Yours is one of the first I watch. There's something so... I'm not quite sure the word in looking for, but... precious is what comes to mind. The fact that these people have lost something that is SO important to them that they are beyond devastated and don't know where to start. And typically within 30 min of you arriving, the missing heirloom or, future heirloom, or just something that means the world to someone is back in their possession. My 32 year old newlywed sister (sorry if I've mentioned this before) passed away last June from colo-rectal and liver cancer. When she first got the diagnosis it was already at stage 4. At that time they said only 15% of people just like her make it 5 years. So we decided to make that time count. Just before we were all going to go to Alaska to see the Northern Lights as a family, she passed. Only one week before that the doctor had told her and her husband he was fairly confident she'd get 6 years. Instead she got 6 weeks. We are so fortunate that we were all able to say everything we wanted to and needed to. A few weeks later we all went to Alaska and we left some ashes so that she could see the northern lights any time she wanted to. (I promise, I'm getting to the point of this story!) My mom called me back in Feb. and said that my birthday present was coming in a box that she'd sent with a few other things. If l wanted to l could open it or save it until my birthday which is April 27th! Of course l opened it!! It is a beautiful sterling necklace that looks like the North Star and contains some of her ashes. It has not left me for one second since I got it. I would be beyond crushed if anything happened to it and this is exactly why l think what you do is so special and important. The compassion you show for the client is top notch and the relief that washes over them when you are able to give them back their lost item is tear-jerking for me almost every time. Sommer pieces are new and some very old, but no matter the age of the piece, it's PRICELESS to them. So thank you for doing what you do in such a respectful way. I know that if l ever lost this necklace I'd have to figure out a way to get you to the states!
Thank you for listening, posting, and for being a true gentleman. Your wife is very lucky and your son has an incredible role model to teach him right from wrong. You have to promise that when you are able to do You Tube and LJR full-time, that you'll tell us so that we can celebrate with you!
      CHEERS! 🎉🎆🏅🍾🥂🍻

Don’t know why people wear their good jewellery to the beach, I never do. Firstly it gets all gunked up with suntan lotion, secondly, the sand
scratches it and thirdly, the chance of having it lost is just too risky. Oh and you can get weird tan lines from some jewellery, lol. Oh by the way you have beautiful perfect teeth Michael, never noticed before.

The first place you went to I don't think I would want to swim there. You couldn't see anything and with all the trash in there it will take forever to find it. If you have the time I'm sure you will but it could take hours. To bad they can't drain it and clean it up and then refill the bay. The 200 year old ring was so pretty I would have died if I had lost it. I know one thing I sure wouldn't be swimming with it on.
