Actually for some whales this is a natural instinct.... watch a nature show some people call it "playing with their food" they have been known to toss seals and penguins in just this exact manner.
i feel bad from them in a way cuz thats not a very big space for them to swim and live but i do think its amazing how smart they are were able to communicate with them!
i went there when i was little, i remember looking into that tank in awe of how deep they were. you can't really tell from this video, but that tank is DEEP! if one of those whales were to push you down and down, you're done for!
@hallsbstn Becuz of their fierce reputation they earned when the sailors used to see them attack larger cetaceans and so they dubbed them "whale killers" and somehow overtime, that got reversed and changed to "killer whales." Orcas aren't even whales...they're dolphins. They're classified under the Delphinidae family.
I think they are real characters. They're cute. I'm against animal exploitation but it's really beautiful to see people and animals interect like this.
None of the orcas names are Shamu. Only one was ever named Shamu, and she died back in the 70's. The orcas in the parks today are named things like Kasatka, Ulises, Tilikum, Katina, Makaio, Nakai, Malia, Unna, etc. SeaWorld chose to give the orcas the stage name Shamu so that when one of them died, the public wouldn't realize it.
I got Picked to go up and feed a dolphin and pet it it was the best time of my life and i got a wooden necklace that said Anything is powssible you just have to beleive - Matt (the trainer) i was so happy that day :)
I'm so happy they don't allow trainers in the pools during shows anymore. This is so dangerous, these whales are very unpredictable and they are predators, so you never know if something will trigger their natural instincts. They're called killer whales for a reason
I absoutely lobe this behavour its called a ydro. But I don't know what the behaviour is called where shamu comes vertically out of the water with the trainer on its nose does anyone know what its called?
@BRiSeries I know!!!! it was an amazing show! and when I was at the seaworld in florida we talked to a worker. and he said that the wales think that they are all being punished because the trainers wont go into the water with them, and they are getting really sad.
@apeycakess Yeah i know you would think the tanks wouldnt be as big as they look, but when i went there the tanks where Massiveee! nothing like you would think they where, the Depth of them is crazyy!
aww... so breath taking... i miss Believe...but i have to say i thought SeaWorld Orlando had a better Believe show than San Diego. Mainly because we had more orcas that were able to do water works with their trainers. like all of the SWO orcas (except Tilikum of course) were gentle enough to engage in water works. but i think San Diego is really amazing, and has an equal amount of better things to!
@hallsbstn I love to watch them and how humble they seem, but I saw a video on TV and man! they are beasts!!! they can kill and eat sharks! they are THE MOST DANGEROUS creatures in the ocean, not even kidding!
I must of been a real lucky person, I lived real close to Seaworld :) I felt home cause I'm an ocean kid born and raised by salt water. It seems great to hear all the sea creatures I use to stand on my roof with binoculars and see everything until they turn the lights off. I even knew 2 to 3 people from see world I saw many creatures be born. :3 Long live the sea ~
These animals are smarter than some people!!!

Has anyone ever noticed how orcas, penguins, and panda bears all have similar color schemes? Perhaps they are distantly related to police cars!
I have... issues... with some of the ways SeaWorld does things. But you can't deny that they put on one HELL of a show.
i feel bad from them in a way cuz thats not a very big space for them to swim and live but i do think its amazing how smart they are were able to communicate with them!
All I know about that jump is that it is one of the most dangerous stunts the trainers do.
Anyone been to Seaworld lately? They don't get in the water with them anymore.
i went there when i was little, i remember looking into that tank in awe of how deep they were. you can't really tell from this video, but that tank is DEEP! if one of those whales were to push you down and down, you're done for!
the thing that shocks me is how long the trainers can hold their breath 4
Once you dive underneath the tank too get ready to get shot out in the air, you're luckyy if you make it back up.
mazing how smart killer whales are... but those trainers are putting their lives at risk every day they play in the water with the whales.
"Killer" Whale......LETS PLAY WITH THEM! :D
0:55 for the throw
@hallsbstn
