  • Sometimes, you come across a guitar pedal that has the 9v battery connector damaged or removed for some reason. This causes problems and often makes the pedal unusable. I made a quick tutorial on how to fix this issue for your education. Enjoy.

If you take an old 9v battery apart, you can salvage the positive and negative terminal posts. It comes out as one piece just like the 9v eBay connector you have there. Then just solder the piece directly to your connector wire leads coming from the device and it connects to any regular 9v battery. And the good thing is it’s much more sturdy than your generic 9v connector, and you won’t run into sizing issues with your batteries. Free 9v connectors for life!

Thank you for the this video. I have been searching for hours to the answer of why my Master Series STL Super Tube would not come on. I thought the foot switch had gone out. It wouldn't come on with a battery or with the power supply. Once I put a battery in the unit and used the power supply it works. (Still need to figure out why the battery isn't working since it is brand new) I bought this pedal back around 89. I haven't used it in over 20 years (just picking up my guitars again). I loved this pedal and didn't want to buy or search for another so thank you.

My Tube Screamer and Cry Baby will only work when plugged in. Neither will work with a battery. I can't figure out why. They work fine, otherwise. I've tried replacement batteries but no luck.

Hey cool vid thanks for the detailed intstructions. One question: Would you be able to strip both wire ends then twist them together and then seal the connections with electrical tape. I've done that before with speaker wire before and it works fine. You would think you'd be able to do the same with these wires.

You could. Just seems more legit to take care of it permanently with solder/shrink, but if you had to do it that way it'd work. Cheers!

This comment doesn't make a lot of sense AND I wish I made $30/hr. 🤷‍♂️
