Guard retention drills kick my butt every time. I just want to come up on a single and be done with it lol

White belt here, so white belt questions are coming.
    1. This seems low intensity insofar as exertion. Is that accurate?
    2. Is the idea that if he passes, then you reset and if he doesn’t then you continue until he does?
None of these are intended as dumb questions or questioning capabilities. It’s because I’m a white belt.

      All fair questions.
      1. Yes. We are working at a moderate pace and I am trying to use as little energy as possible by focusing on maintaining proper grips, frames, hooks, and alignment. More than anything, the video is intended to show how I apply these tools to prevent guard passes, manage distance, and chain various open guards together to move between offensive and defensive cycles.
      2. My main priority in this drill is to prevent my guard from being passed. While I apply some offense, my attacks are used primarily to force my partner to reset rather than using them to finish.
      Thanks for watching!

Also I feel a little embarrassed for saying “he” so much. I meant no disrespect to her. I apologize to Ms. Em and to whomever I offended.
