Greg's solo over the 4/4 section of Lucky 7 is a definitive tutorial on how to solo over a 1-4 vamp - f'in genius. I listened to that section twice....
Woh !!! Thanks for sharing I love this album !!! Big fan of Dennis Chambers for almost 18 years ... The camera angle is insane I was always looking on internet a good video that show all of his ghost notes skills ... His difference of volume is very very impressive between ghost notes and rim power ! One of my favorites with Billy Cobham, and many more ...
I've seen Dennis Chambers play with Santana in a big arena stadium sold out show. Then he plays in a half empty theater here. But no matter where a musician plays they still give the best show they can.
Thank you Dennis ! for the greatest Drum lesson of my life ! After seeing you I can "apply" what I learned 30 years ago at Berklee college with Tommy (Campbel), Skip (Haden), Ed (Uribe) and the others !!! you SUMMED it UP !
This view brings home how much the drums add to the sound - it's like the good old days of progressive rock, when the drums didn't just back the sound, they participated....
grande Dennis!!! grande professionista tecnica e Groove mostruosi, potenza velocita' e dinamica....un professionista con una grande esperienza e una grande umilta'!
I met him in 1991 when I was like 15 but only for a few seconds. It was at the modern Drummer festival in New Jersey. I also met him Thursday night in Ardmore at the Ardmore theater in Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia. He was honoring New Orleans music and Russel Baptiste. He looked very healthy and useful after being sick for a few years and was beyond cool to talk to and a total gentleman. I mean, Dennis was the epitome of cool calm collected and humble. and I got to see him play side-by-side with Adam Deitch who is one of the baddest cats on planet earth and my favorite Drummer from my generation.
A bunch of mics in sight, and we get a cell phone recording. Fusion musicians can't get gigs in the states, but this is only 50 people, so wtf? Well I love Dennis and Greg soooo much I'll watch anyway...
the longer you play the more your hands become smoother you can't get that smoothness that the older drummers in the industry have just by practising on pillows it takes years and years
A lot of good drummers out there, it's an ugly gig . Bt Dennis your the best of all time brotha , thanks for all you do. I don't like to compare art, like some people do . Bt you can't compare art , people paint differently. I've seen and heard a lot of the greatest, just sound horrible at times and corny . This man wakes up a song like no other . Good work brotha , it's good to have you back.
Man, killer version of Proto Cosmos! Howe is definitely doing a great job. Dennis Chambers though, those ghost notes... I hear he used to practice/learn rudiments using hammers and pillows... if this is true it most certainly paid off!
Indeed - you're right on the money! I had to check the pair where actually bandmates in Tony Williams's Lifetime Band. I guess Allan's rare legato improvising style always steals the show, plus he's perhaps popularised the song more so that Pasqua, so we assume its his material when actually this is to the contrary.
I’m sure if this were better mixed I’d like it more especially since all these guys are great musicians, especially Dennis, but there’s something missing from this.
Yes, all very clever and talented but who the hell would actually sit down and listen to this stuff? It's just endless noodling, which bit is the tune?
I love Dennis but this music sucks indeed. But you can't say that around here because fanboys will start yelling about lack of appreciation, soul or whatever.
Boardrigger, your on point! Some guys need to just shout up and move on, if you don't get it! ..move on. I just left a comment on another post that Dennis was on.... and all I have to say is, If you don't understand the conversation move on. No one can tell you how to hear it you have to hear it and feel it! Soul is what it's called, there are so many things that can captured in a groove.... Move on, nothing to hear here! Lol These are some nice grooves man.
Their emotional palette is not similar. We have both of them because they are different, not because they are same. Believe me, I surely feel enough of coloring and finesse when I listen to Dennis Chambers. In art, bias and expectations are not always play out well for you. Try to be open and percieve the art itself without expecting it to be alike to something you already admire.

Only musicians can understand how great jazz fusion is !!! The precision and degree of difficulty is the true beauty of it.
Uh, well it also Has to sound nice!

PARA MI ES UN PLACER VER ESTE MONSTRUO DE LA BATERIA!!!!SIEMPRE ME SORPRENDE!!!!
This view brings home how much the drums add to the sound - it's like the good old days of progressive rock, when the drums didn't just back the sound, they participated....

es increible que esten tocando estos tres moustros juntos y haya asientos vacios, que vengan a mexico y veran si no saturan el lugar.
If only I could do that all day long for a living.
For all drummers !!
the longer you play the more your hands become smoother you can't get that smoothness that the older drummers in the industry have just by practising on pillows it takes years and years
This is living legend!
Seeing Dennis play on DW Drums is like seeing MJ play in Reeboks
amazing trio
Чемберс как всегда на высоте !
He's like a freaking train : D Love his groove !!!
Amazing trio !

Man, killer version of Proto Cosmos! Howe is definitely doing a great job. Dennis Chambers though, those ghost notes... I hear he used to practice/learn rudiments using hammers and pillows... if this is true it most certainly paid off!
Anyone else thought Chambers was messing the ground too much on Going to California or is it just me?
OMG!
e muito legal ....
NO SE PUEDE CREER , ESTA PARTIDO EN 4 !!
wow!
Wish the sound was better for every instrument..they all are so great!
very good.
Yes indeed, this is Proto Cosmo written by the enigmatic ALLAN HOLDSWORTH. Great!!
"Proto cosmos" was composed by Alan Pasqua, not Allan Holdsworth.
First song is a Holdsworth-one right ?
Amazing Groove :D, name of the second music please start at 6.15??
Song: "Present-Moment"
Album: "Project" by Greg Howe/Richie Kotzen
Is Greg and Stu actually there? The whole video is on Dennis! What the heck!?!?!?!
yoursola this video is for drummes. Thanks to this camera view we can see all details of Chambers playing: ghost notes, e.t.c.
Alguien tiene el nombre de la canción del mínuto 22 que empieza con stu hamm????
Me costó identificarla, pero es Going to California de Led Zeppelin
Did Dennis drop Pearl for DW?

'Kick it all over' from Howe's debut album
I’m sure if this were better mixed I’d like it more especially since all these guys are great musicians, especially Dennis, but there’s something missing from this.
its funny to see the guy's face at the right, its like :O
Tony Williams tune?
Yes. Tony Williams Lifetime from the Album "Believe It".
Is Dennis playing DW in this video?
***** Nope.. This is a DW set and it has Evans Drumhead on.
Amazing technical abilities by these guys. Too bad the song is way over my head. Where’s the hook? 😄
Poor Stu, has to play a Victor line at 28:00...

Love these guys but how about Gavin Harrison with Greg Howe? :) better yet, Guthrie Govan and Gavin?
gimme David Weckl any day.he is better than this guy. Then mu second is Neil Pert drummer from rush.
Yes, all very clever and talented but who the hell would actually sit down and listen to this stuff? It's just endless noodling, which bit is the tune?
does go a bit, doesn't it.
Noodling? You don't really have much of an appreciation for Progressive/Jazz now do you. They are all phenomenal musicians by ANY standard.
I love Dennis but this music sucks indeed. But you can't say that around here because fanboys will start yelling about lack of appreciation, soul or whatever.
I agree hes to overbearing for me. I prefer dave weckl he plays with more finesse. dennis to much smash and bang.
Boardrigger, your on point! Some guys need to just shout up and move on, if you don't get it! ..move on. I just left a comment on another post that Dennis was on.... and all I have to say is, If you don't understand the conversation move on. Move on, nothing to hear here! Lol
These are some nice grooves man.
cant say im a fan of chambers. a lot of smashing and banging how about a bit of colouring and finesse like dave weckel instead of this stuff...
Their emotional palette is not similar. We have both of them because they are different, not because they are same. Believe me, I surely feel enough of coloring and finesse when I listen to Dennis Chambers. In art, bias and expectations are not always play out well for you. Soulless music. Boring as hell.
+Alexandre Soares or maybe you just don't have a soul.
or maybe you can`t tell when Dennis is playing good music and when he is not. Maybe you`re deaf.
sorry Rodrigo, this is Progressive Jazz, not Soul. Try again.
you should spray your brain all over the place
Rodrigo Soares is another dumber.
I would not sit more than 20 mn listening, its heartless, they have nothing to say, just a tech=show , boring...
Lei Shri Krama lol this is a special collaboration this is not what a normal show consists of....
Lei Shri Krama maybe he likes punk rock.
Progressive Jazz Lei, you obviously don't have much appreciation for 3 phenomenal musicians. stick with Pop music.
Shri Krama Lei you are dumb.
Who are you?😂😂😂
