The impressionists truly understood the art of painting and it's function and duty in conveying and expressing the world around us. Classical painting became formulaic methodical and stale due to it's social economic and political constraints, Impressionism broke out of the strait jacket of Classical painting. Artists who pursued impressionism found a new freedom of expression and the art of painting our world never looked back. Mary Casset was one of the most important pioneers of this new way of seeing the world and the exploration of painting it in multiple ways and media. She is my favourite artist, her personality drove her to the edge of the envelope being pushed by these great impressionists. Impressionism to me allows artists to find the true purpose of human expression, the freedom to expand, explore and create.
Somehow every picture ..some seeming really good ......has some element badly executed . The first exhibited painting The mandolins player however is so great .
