    a list would be great. Many people just don't know what to look for when it comes to the mechanicals.

      I agree. Would like to find a list helping with me doing my own inspection. Thanks for your videos!

    We bought a 2022 heartland fuel toy hauler. And it’s only sold at the horrible dreaded Camping World. I’ve been in maintenance for 25 yrs, so prior to signing anything (day of delivery). I did my own pdi… literally touched / turned on / opened / cranked / slid /crawled under / walked roof … sales guy said no worries they checked it all out … well after my own 4 hr inspection.. I had a list of 54 things that needed fixed. Prior to me signing anything.. No joke .. sales guy / GM / finance manager we’re all pissed …. Said they would fix it just sign papers… nope.. I said fix it all then I’ll do another walk through then sign papers once I was satisfied.. seriously 1/2 the lap sealant on roof was missing, gas side of hot water heater wouldn’t work, 2 of the plastic casters under slide were broken. 3 interior lights wouldn’t work.. so on and so on.. and this was a brand new unit…. So yes please get a inspection .. doesn’t matter if you spend $30,000 or $500,000 things will get missed from factory and dealer…. Good luck rv’ers …

      That's outstanding and good for you for making them take care of your list first.
      Have you been able to use the toy hauler and if so what are your thoughts?

      We full time in it as of last Dec…. After all was fixed.. been great so far…. Minor issues.. faucet leaked in kitchen and bathroom… called heartland, they sent replacements to me right away, zero hassles.. love the toy hauler… pulls good down road.. long and heavy for a bumper pull and a heavy tongue weigh, almost 1680 with propane and our stuff inside, but does good. Patio is amazing, we use most every day. Not sorry we purchased TH.. just wish we could have bought the Fuel 287 from anywhere but camping world… but it’s exclusive to them .. ugh!!!

    Of course, we’d love to see your checklist! A problem I have is that I don’t know how to check what I don’t know, that being all things structural, mechanical, plumbing, or electrical. No, I take that back. I know a teeny bit about improper plumbing and now know that something called pex tubing exists. I’ve owned cars without ever knowing how they worked but RVs are a different beast. I’m going to buy one anyway! If I were younger I’d have loved to go to NRVTA but, nope. I have a math degree and a nursing degree but neither help much here. Yes, we need help and lots of it. Thank you!

    TIP. BLUE COMPASS uses the old buy and sale interest rate tactic. Bank says they charge customer 8.5% interest but them Blue Compass adds another 2% interest points so they make thousands dollars off of your loan.

    I've never had a dealer balk on a 3rd party inspection, but I was surprised that some dealers will actually add the pdi into the sales contract as a line item. No, thank you. If you charge for it, then I'll decline and have my own 3rd party inspection at a rate I agree to with the inspector, thanks! You can do one if you want on your own dime. GEEEZ!

    TIP
    TO
    SHARE. ONCE you paid hundreds of dollars from a private party inspector. Dealer ask for the inspection. TELL THEM NO. TELL THEM TO PAY FOR IT.

    The sad thing is that most dealers don't want you to do an inspection. Say the word inspection, and you're better off say bomb on plane. It's sad.

    • @undercoverrvtech

      Yeah, that screams they have something to hide! I have done inspections at dealerships, it is always worth asking if they allow it.

    My ac runs all day and temp gets up to 80 ,inside, it's 87/90 outside. The temp of air blowing from vents are 59/60 during those times. Is this normal. We cleaned the coils with hv guys foam. Thanks

    • @undercoverrvtech
      @undercoverrvtech ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Normal is a 20 degree drop in temp from air going in the filter to coming out the register. If you have a Dometic AC you have to check and clean the outside condenser coil both what you can see from the roof, and take the cover off and clean behind the fan, that is where gunk will build up and is often missed.
