Do you mean to have the tab open before you place it and press on it ? Or do you have to have it closed to line it up first and then you open it to press and then close later ?

Enjoyed your humour as well :) In my case, after installing the base and letting it set for some hours, I installed the arm but I did it with the lock tab open. I closed/locked the tab only after I was satisfied with the positioning. I felt that applying the suction after increased the pressure which helped the base and arm surfaces bond better. I will be leaving it overnight just to make sure before I even try attaching my phone on it. I have a Note 10+ which is a larger smartphone but my case is silicone and lightweight. I already have a ring magnet attached to my case that attached quite securely to the arm magnet when I tested it before I did the prep and install so hopefully it will hold up tomorrow!

I dont have them on my windshield. since then, I have installed a different model that is more recent. you'll see it in my video collection. the one I'm using now is working really well. be sure to see which way you want to have it sit on your dashboard if you do it that way. some swivel and rotate, others don't. thank you!!

@Kindred. yes I've heard magnets and x-rays are not good for harddrives etc. although I've put my comp through x-rays and my phone has used magnets for years. no issues because the magnets were not super super strong .. I think. anyway I had to get a different holder that does not use a magnet. I have to agree with you about the instruction manual. It would have been much better if there was a diagram of each piece next to the list of all the parts. "Circular Metal Plate"???? There are 2 of them, very different sizes. Simple diagrams of those parts would have made it much easier to understand the installation. I have a degree in electrical engineering, so I'm no idiot.
I don't use glue.. but I did find the flattest surface possible, used all the attachments, and left a heavy book on it overnight. and I did not use the attachment for a day or so. I hope this helps!
good question... do you have a garage you could install this in, and have it cure overnight with a book or weight on it? id say a garage has to help more than just being outside. when i did this it was cold... but not as cold as it is now. i woud think the first few hour of bonding would be best if not in the freezing cold. perhaps wait till an uncommonly warm day?

Works very well for a long time. But when the rotating ball loses the grip, then you're doomed. I can't remove this from my dashboard, it just sticks too well.

yes you can even try other adhesivr possibly .. maybe weak removeable adhesive? and remember to choose a flat spot. and..clean well. and leave a heavy book in it over night. do not use it so it can bond. mine is still holding up.
would have been nice to see an actual large phone with case to see if the magnetics are strong enough to keep the phone from falling while driving, otherwise good vid we all need improvements and constructive criticism sometime keep it up.
I don't like to rely on suction cups, but i can't get over that psychological hurdle of physically sticking something to my car. That just seems one step removed from rigging it up yourself.

This is not complete installation guide for a buyer in order to evaluate the product. I think you should have used an actual cell phone to mount and see how it hold the magnet.
I found this on amazon, look up smartphone dashboard mount.. or something like that. There may be better ones - but this video will help with the installation.
i wouldnt... use super glue. that will damage your car later when removing it. may i suggest perhaps buying another one? itll be worth it. mine still works so i recommend that..

Okay let's get to it 1st when it comes to will you put in and and right now it's running from event let means the phone is gonna get hot during the summer times don't know went to time it's gonna get cold so that means it's gonna make moisture inside the damn phone so it's gonna ruin the phone I'm both time so mayo winter you can have put it in front of event unless you can lock that vent So that's what is wrong to put that phone holder at I disagree were you are Putting it at.Is definitely wrong spot for it.
the base can be removed and reattached for basic maintenance if need be. still better than other options that i tried. also this is not a luxury car by any means... it has other issues haha.. thank you for stopping by.

Did you manage to get the one that pulled apart because the surface wasn't flat to stick? If so, what glue did you use?
I only used what was supplied. I tried using other adhesive tape for a different car but doesn't work. it's better to just get a different holder.

yes try again, i almost messed up too.. in fact one of my mounts raised off. so i put a heavy book on it over night. its been solid ever since.

i would think so. in some cases it wont be straight down the middle. find a flat area if you can. mine still works well. i use it every day too.

The sticky base actually came off my dashboard ! Can i wash it maybe and stick it back or not really ?! 🤔
please email them, they may replace it. also apparently opening the tab while pushing, then locking it makes it hold better. a viewer told me that.
