Boy with love, Butter and dynamite are probably one of the more “poppy songs” from them, new BTS fans that are young tend to ask people to react to those songs because it’s popular and that’s all they know, you guys need to check out their other stuff that us true BTS fans want people to actually listen to like pied piper, paradise, love maze, home, singularity, black swan. This is more the BTS vibe that we know and love. Trust me you will enjoy it, it’s litt.
This is the #1 bestseling song in USA (yes, USA) & sold WITHOUT bundles unlike every other USA act. Dynamite released less than a year ago has gone 3X Platinum (3 mil units sold) & on its way to 4X Platinum. This song is the biggest selling song in 2021 too. But Butter is here & has beaten the record for single week sales set by Dynamite in 2021. Butter has already sold more than 500k units in USA as of 1st June. The number will shoot to a mil soon because the vinyls & casettes were shipped yesterday (not factored in the mentioned numbers yet) & Butter CDs will ship on 9 July.

Dynamite was BTS's first full-English song- the second is Butter, released this month. They've done a few English covers- one of the members sang 'We Don't Talk Anymore' with Charlie Puth, and they covered Coldplay's 'Fix You' (with permission and enthusiastic approval from Coldplay) on MTV Unplugged this spring. They also remixed Jason Derulo's 'Savage Love', though he was rather ungracious about crediting them afterward.
So in a nutshell, they're 4 vocalists, 3 rappers, and 1 (the leader RM, in this vid the blue-haired guy) fluent in English. Their songs are primarily in Korean with some English phases mixed in, as is typical of K-pop. The oldest was born in '92, the youngest in '97. They formed in 2010 and debuted in 2013 as a teenage rap-hiphop group, but around 2015 changed up their style a bit and started adding genres: rock, pop, soul, R&B, a bit of sax and jazz here and there; pretty much the only thing they haven't done is opera and classical. They've been winning awards and rising up the charts since about 2016; Dynamite was the first Asian act to be Grammy nominated, and both it and Butter debuted at #1 on Billboard- in fact Butter's in its third week at #1.
They're not typical K-pop; they began in a very small, nearly bankrupt company and fought their way up in an extremely competitive arena (S. Korea boasts over four thousand entertainment companies, debuting hundreds of Idol groups each year, and only a small percentage of them make it 100 days past debut.) BTS write and produce their own music (RM and rapper Suga aka Korea's Eminem, are the most prolific lyricists, and Suga is heavily involved with the production team), something quite rare in the idol business. They are encouraged to write about their own experiences and feelings and to comment on social issues- something that's also very rare among idol groups.
The fandom is known as ARMY (BTS = Bangtan Sonyeondan, or Bulletproof Boy-group; hence, 'army') and the connection between ARMY and BTS is remarkable. BTS have suffered a lot of hate, racism and prejudice as well as plain jealousy, and there's been a lot of malicious behavior from bigger, more powerful K-pop companies and their fans, who see any competition as threatening to their own popularity. ARMY are very protective of the guys, and the guys in turn are grateful to their fans for being a constant source of support and encouragement. They've openly talked about anxiety and depression- things that carry a major stigma in the East- and their most significant message to their fans is the 'Love Yourself'. They're very genuine, compassionate, down-to-earth, playful guys who happen to also be amazingly creative. RM often refers to them as 'seven ordinary boys from Korea who love music', and their goal is to share their enjoyment and uplift people.

These are the best guys alive fr. Just good people who happen to also be very talented as musicians & producers & also very supportive of each member of the group. It’s rare to have a group where the members don’t suffer from main character syndrome esp when they are all so talented individually.

You should listen on..... Butter, Dynamite are fun songs targeted at westerners but their korean stuff (altogether they have over 300 songs) is deep, cool, all genres, they produce, write lyrics, compose music....they are not just a boyband. You should look into it a bit more, it´s worth it.
