  • The Interstate Bridge Replacement project is still a long way from acquiring property, but some owners think they're probably on the eminent domain list - and they're frustrated by the lack of information.

    The project is not there yet, but It's not hard to guess where the new bridge and hi way changes will happen big infrastructure changes always come at a personal cost, but the I 5 crossing needs to be replaced in a big way

      Is replacing the bridge important enough for you to lose an hour of wages every day in order to replace it?

      @@Markmedina75 Is not replacing aging infrastructure important enough for you to eventually lose the current crossing later regardless, and at a higher cost?

    When a highway department comes through it doesn't matter how many years your family has owned at home or that your great-great-great-grandfather was born there they want your home they will take home. That's what's happen to my sister in Texas

    Stop adding freaking roads and fix actual towns. If grocery stores were in walking distance we wouldn't need so many cars cars, if jobs where near by and paid like they should, this is ridiculous and it's still to this day pushing people out of their homes.
    Kill zoning that prevents restaurants from being across the street, that stops show shops from being down the road, residential zoning and business zoning should work together and be in the same location, where people are. Keep all of the coal stacks that do harsh work away obviously, that's expected but having to drive through 26 roads just to get my groceries is absolutely ridiculous. And I'm scared for any bikers out there because the Lord knows there's no bike infrastructure worth anything. PAINT IS NOT INFRASTRUCTURE, people swerving and out of bike lanes all the time. We need more dedicated bike sections and barriers and lights.
    Cities have never been less safe and all the city engineers are doing is trying to add more roads and taxes to add more roads and taxes.
    Please, please for the love of everything good, start thinking of the people. Not the cars and stop building more roads and bridges when we need more bike lanes and business.

    The house my grandfather built was "aquired" in the 90s so the City of Hillsboro could punch Brookwood through to Hwy 26. He got a whole new house out of it. Not a bad deal! He loved it. Yeah the house he built and and raised his kids in is gone now, and my Mom drives Brookwood Parkway remembering her childhood, but.... That's life! The only constant is change! Everyone is happy with the outcome.

    It's way past time for this but it will be hard on folks there. The current bridge is nearly useless and can't handle the traffic.

    • @Markmedina75
      @Markmedina75 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The bridge handles traffic fine. The I5 bottlenecks in Oregon. Traffic opens up as soon as you cross the bridge.

    • @kriss1956
      @kriss1956 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Markmedina75 Of course it does, in Oregon it has to narrow down to 2 lanes...the bridge. In Vancouver it opens back up to 4/5 lanes. Thus the bridge is too small and the back up happens which means it is not handling the traffic.

    Just build it already.

    Replace the I-5 bridges with a bridge of modest cost, similar capacity and footprint... no rail, no tolls. They're gonna spend the next 10 years tearing up our roads and neighborhoods and locals will pay an hour of wages to cross the bridge. Vancouvites lose big.

      Peetown needs to fix the downtown I5 first!!

      @@TheCommunicationCoach exactly... whats the point in building capicy when it just bottlenecks in Oregon anyway. Oregon doesnt care about our drivers. They want to build something iconic that expands their transportation system into our state. No thanks.

    Screw that! Peetown needs to fix i5 through downtown as it should've been done decades ago! VanWA residents get screwed over by OR enough as it is!!
