    Thank you Frank. not in a million years would i have guessed that was the way to reset the lamp timer...

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It took me quite a while to find the proper info and then a good half day getting the timing of the button presses right. It seemed almost criminal to not share this with people. I can only imagine the amount of projectors out there stuck with thousands of hours.

    Not sure if you can help me. I have a NEC NP - V260X projector. The lamp life ended so I got a new lamp and put in new lamp but the lamp light stayed a solid red and it would not turn on. I tried old lamp and same thing. I tried new lamp again with no luck. I took off top and tried both old and new lamp again. Nothing happens other than that darn lamp light stays a solid red. I then had new lamp in, with solid red lamp light on, and held "help" on the remote. The red lamp light turned off. But now I can't get any lights to turn on or anything. I've tried holding a bunch of buttons in different orders on the projector and the remote with no luck. Any suggestions?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you put the lamp door back on? The door switch needs to be activated by the top.

    • @nemesis3295
      @nemesis3295 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@FixitFrank I did. Still no luck. I thought there might be some switch somewhere. But even after taking it off I don't see a switch for it. But I did try it. I'll try again though.
      Edit: Found the switch... started right up... not sure why when I put the cover on it wasn't pushing in the switch? Idk... I guess I did get the red light button to go off after I held help for 10 seconds. So maybe that was the first issue. But since I didn't do that till after I had taken off the cover and whole lid, then the switch was no longer held. And man that switch is tiny.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah, the red light meant the lamp timer went into protection. NEC does that. Sharp used to. No one else does thankfully. I'd see if the tab on the lamp door broke off or if the cover of the projector isn't down all the way.

    • @nemesis3295
      @nemesis3295 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FixitFrank Oh it's working good now. I did break one of the tabs when taking off the cover but it wasn't the tab that pushed in the little button. Thanks for the help though. Had you not mentioned the little tab/button it would have taken be longer to figure out.

    Thank for the video Frank, do you think it's better buying a bulb for this one, or try one of those budget projector on amazon in the 150$ range?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The budget projectors on amazon are festering steaming garbage from what I have seen. I actually had a pretty well known company send me one to "advertise". th-cam.com/video/BjoGD1zXqZA/w-d-xo.html You will get a far better value out of a decent lamp than one of those flashlight projectors. They fail after roughly 3 months or so. They lie about the specs to badly. there is no way they are remotely 7500 lumens. On average they are 200-300 tops...if you can get it to focus. If they were $20-30 sure. But $120 is robbery in my opinion.

      I'd get a bare lamp. No need for the full housing here. @Chessguru, do you sell these? Philips 9281-652-05390 is the bare lamp #. The old housing will still be good and it will guarantee proper air flow. If Chessguru doesn't carry them( he is in the UK) give www.mplamps.co.uk/ a check. They sell APOG lamps as far as I know but you would need to buy a full assembly from them from what I see on the website, but I bet if you asked them for the Philips UHP # I posted, they can get it or have it for you. Most projectors I would suggest a full assembly but due to the nature of the 281, I say get a bare lamp for your situation.

    Hi Frank , I replaced the bulb, but the brightness is still very low, i increased the brightness to it max level, but i can't see any change. do you have any ideas?
    Also in the INFO, it says hours used 03811(H), shouldn't it be 0 hours used ?
    thanks a lot

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is curious. Possible causes are light tunnel alignment, burnt shape lens or a bad lamp. I have seen the shape lens melt/burn in these. Its inside the optic assembly. Usually you will smell it though, it is very obvious when they burn/melt. In your case Id be more suspicious of the light tunnel alignment or the lamp alignment inside the housing. Hours used is total projector run time. That should not be reset. Only the lamp hours should be reset.

    • @Tal.10
      @Tal.10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FixitFrank thanks a lot Frank I'll try to check those things, do you maybe have a video on the light tunnel alignment?

    • @FixitFrank

      Not on this model but I do have some. The theory/method is the same no matter the model. Search 'light tunnel' on the video page. Or you can start here(feel free to skip around). th-cam.com/video/HUV3PPZoFeg/w-d-xo.html

    I'm working with an NEC M300W and i was wondering if you know if there's a way to reset the timer without a remote? I made the mistake of letting it's hours expire before replacing and the projector is stuck in standby mode. Project doesn't turn on. Solid green on Status Light and solid red on Lamp Light. If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately you need the remote. It has to be an original NEC remote. Multi brands don't usually work. I have run into a one or two multi brand remotes that work but i always ended up buying an NEC remote. For what it's worth they are only about $15 though. You might even find a used one for less but you 100% need the remote. I tried all possible options, even the lan port.

      That will work once the projector is reset. Meaning you can use it like a remote but once it goes into protection you need the actual remote. Its annoying...Thanks NEC!

      @@jimmytopete2077 Jimmy Topete www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/projector_manual_7240.pdf Check page 67 here. The LEDs flash in codes. if Status flashes red 6x then pauses and flashes 6 times again, it is indicating that it cannot start the lamp for some reason. Either the timer ran out or the color wheel failed or there is a power problem in the ballast or power supply. There are multiple codes for different causes. I am assuming you have the VE281X, but if not then this manual will not apply.
