I love my sg special 😊 I own the special “VE” name Brownie. I’ve replace with humbuckers with the aftermarket humbuckers and replace the the stop bar with the chevron “v” shape stop bar from guyker and ever since, I’ve love my set up
I sent my Epiphone SG Special back to Amazon because of tuning issues. I discovered that the whole neck would continually flex and cause the guitar to go in and out of tune. I could not believe that Epiphone would build something that bad and expect fro students to learn on this guitar. I also checked the four screws that attaches the neck to the body and they were tight. This guitar looked very nice but it's not a good guitar at any price.
4:30 - The neck dive issue, I found can be resolved by the strap you choose. If the strap has friction to the backside of it, it will not slip. The SG was my second guitar, but really my first because it was the one I began to learn how to play with. I was most definitely a fan of Black Sabbath back then, but I had no idea that Tony Iommi used a Special. My first was a Gibson SE 225 with 2 P90 pickups, that my Dad traded a used aluminum boat, motor and trailer for it !!! I don't have my first SG anymore because it was in the pawn shop at the time hurricane Katrina hit us and I lost it. 😭Sob story! PS - But the silver lining is that I bought a '22 Gibson SG Standard (half face pickguard), an exclusive from Zzounds. What's exclusive is the color, it's a very dark cherry, like a black cherry color. It almost looks like ebony from a distance. I also got a '22 Gibson SG Bass guitar (short scale) !!! Happy Playing Brother!
Thanks for checking in friend. The little Epiphone SG Special was dirt cheap, and fun. I go to it most of the time when I wanna play some kick ass rock.
Yeah, well I'm still making payments on the SG's !!! 😭Epiphone has been stepping up their game, BigTime, recently. I almost got the Epiphone Moderne model, but they were all snatched up before I made the move. So if I want one, it'll have to be a used model. It's got that pretty/ugly vibe, the model most guitarists aren't interested in.@@robertmellang6998
It’s just the way you see it. It’s a $160.00 guitar. Fun guitar. I saw Dan Akroid, Blues Brothers Band. A guy in the band was playing an Epiphone Les Paul Special. The concert was packed. I thought it was cool to see a guitar player that didn’t have his identity invested in his guitar. Know what I mean?
@@robertmellang6998 II do know what you mean. But people choose certain guitars based on their identity/personality. I won’t go near anything that isn’t a Fender/Squier or Gibson/Epiphone. Because of the tone and because of the aesthetics. I’m not interested in knock off guitars. Jackson guitars look horrible. Gretsch guitars usually look horrible. Etc. So when I asked if the fretboard was that orangey color it’s because I can’t have a guitar with a pukey fretboard. Like Pau Ferrro. That kills the look of player strats. I’m not interested in custom shop fenders or gibsons. It’s not about the money. It’s about how the guitar looks and feels. In fact I’ll never buy a real Gibson because they’re too heavy. So…. lightweight Epiphones! And inexpensive Strats and Teles! Yup I’m a guitar snob in strange low budget way. I have to feel a connection with the guitar. In conclusion 😂 one’s identity is invested in the guitar whether we realize it or not. Ps. Thanks for responding!
Best durable quality electric guitar for the price you can possibly get. Sg special satin in black for 199$. I’ll keep the extra few thousand In my bank account for a rainy day. It really is the player not the instrument.
You gotta clean those guitars up man. It would have made the presentation better and been a better video if you had put some thought and time into polishing those instruments and making them look nice
I have an Epiphone SG Modern in trans black. Awesome instrument ❤️‼️🎸🔥

Coil splitters are very useful on guitars. 👍
Good Video! I just ordered the Epiphone SG Traditional Pro because it was on sale.
I never met a guitar that I didn’t like. I fall in love with a guitar in ten minutes.
Thumbnail: Why would you get an Epiphone SG Special?
Me: The real question is: “Why wouldn’t you?”

There is something for everyone. Get the checkbook out.

Thanks for checking out my video.
Is the color of the fretboard a dark color like the one in your video or is it that pukey orange color I’ve been seeing a lot on low budget Epiphones?

Agree
I wouldn’t
I wouldn't even get a Gibson SG Special. Great guitar, but not my thing

Good point. I will bring that up at the creative meeting.
Thanks for checking in. I appreciate you.
