I love the NOT sped up videos! Everybody else has high-speed replays that are unfollowable, especially for people relatively new to the tools - so yours are top notch, thank you :)

What I love about your pictures is that you show us that color doesn't make the picture. Just with your values you can call your piece finished. The color just improves it even more.

I reaaaally love the way you work!
I've been using Photoshop since I was 13, a wacom tablet since I was 16, so I know exactly what you're doing, even in the sped-up videos.
Just watching a few of your videos was enlightening! I'm experimenting with this kind of workflow in my own style since a few days and it's so cool!
Drawing shapes, cutting off them. It's simple but genius. Thank you, Jordan!
    I'm learning a lot :)

A quick addition to some basic color grading tips and theory:
If you want your artwork to have a high level of contrast but don't want to lose the fine details, as well as still keep it relatively easy on the eye, you can use color contrasts in combination with light/dark contrasts.
Two colors of equal brightness will still carry a contrast, especially when taking opposites (like blue/red, orange/teal, etc). So try to keep your light/dark contrast on a medium level (or slightly undertuned), and then use one color grade for the highlights and a contrasting color for the dark areas. The most typical use is a warm tint (like orange) for bright areas and a cold tint (blue) for dark areas. Cold colors naturally enhance the visual impact of darkness, while warm colors do the same but with bright areas. This way you reach a contrast richness and depth without oversaturating or overexposing your artwork. But don't be afraid to experiment with the colors you use. This is your artistic freedom where you can find exactly what suits your style and taste.
In general one can regard color contrasting as helping your artwork gain a dynamic flow to it, where the eye of the viewer is naturally drawn from the warm to the cold, whereas greytones or a flat colorscheme will make your artwork static and plain.
In addition, it is often beneficial to keep the majority of your work undersaturated, while whatever is your artwork's primary focus receives the most saturation (like in the case of the first artwork in this video the big rock in the center). This helps the viewer focus their attention on what's most important, and it adds a 3 dimensional effect by making the main object in focus be what stands out. This can also be extended to other aspects of your work, such as level of detail. It's generally a good idea to keep the most intricate details reserved for whatever is the main focus of your work, and then decreasing the level of detail on objects of lesser importance.

I really like how you work with colors making them look harmonious. Do you normally use colors that you have already tried, think about a palette right away or do you just experiment and see if the result is going in the direction you like?
Sorry for my English, I'm Brazilian and I'm fluent only in Google translator.

Hey Jordan! Did you merge all the layers from the grayscale sketch before colouring them in? I would think that's easier to do because I can just create more layers during the colouring process if I need to make adjustments.

Wonderful videos and paintings! I find the best way to actually LEARN from this one is to reduce playback speed to 0.5 and just focus on what he's actually doing. The commentary isn't very practical--the techniques he's doing can only be discovered by watching at half-speed. There's a lot of excellent methods to learn here.
