FILM DESCRIPTION:
Two bicyclists are run down by a strange black car in the desert near a small town in Utah. But this is just the first in a series of hit-and-run murders. Sheriff Wade Parents (James Brolin) is called in to investigate, and his deputy, Everett (John Marley), is killed by the black sedan, which, some witnesses say, has no one behind its wheel. When the car threatens a local school parade, the lives of the town's children and Wade's teacher girlfriend, Lauren (Kathleen Lloyd), are endangered.

Whoever handled that horn needs a raise, its so mysterious yet haunting despite just being a normal horn without any edited nuance
Air horn x 20
The car's horn was a Hadley 977N Ambassador, if I reckon back correctly. And yes, whoever handled it did it well.
No, it's a Grover 1700-1748 air horn. It was a horn commonly used on big semi trucks.
Exactly @theoflood6596 it wasn't a "normal" car horn at all.
That scene with the tunnel is genius. First off, the sound design of that ghostly engine echoing off the tunnel walls is fantastic. There's this innense sense of dread that comes with it. Then, you see something reflective deep within the tunnel, assuming its the car, making the viewer think they know where the car is, only to be surprised when it pounces on them, catching the viewer by surprise.
Christine's Father basically and I love it.

@The Car nice haha
@The Car how many people you killed?
Clue-in: The black car is a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III customized by George Barris.
the best aspects of this movie is the car itself because it is driverless and it is mysterious, no backstory
it is mysterious,?
IT sATAN'S CAR
We have to girl who was in my your own home you face.
Sound like Japanese folk evil spirit “Hazy Car 朦朧車”😮🤔.
@@eddiejoewalt7746 At the time this movie was produced, I worked with a black gal in the chem office in CA who often seriously stated....."That car was driven by the DEVIL!"
As a bike mechanic, I can confirm that wheel is no longer serviceable.
not to a Navajo is completely serviceable i'll ride that wheel any day.
underrated comment.
You could see a steering wheel turning: but the frightening thing is that there’s no driver behind the wheel. Now fast forward: in one Uber vehicle, there’s someone on the driver’s seat, but the car drives itself very much in a similar way to this driverless car in the movie. The driver who used the auto pilot was eventually charged with negligence and Uber abandoned the driverless car project entirely.
Well, that's one good tire because it's still holding air.
As a Bike mechanic, the Semperit tires are still saveable
That car is utterly terrifying.
Christine and Maximum Overdrive, meet your maker.
I've always been a fan of The Wraith, but the car sounds in this movie seem pretty good.

I saw this in the theater upon its release. I loved it then and 55 years later I still love it!
I wasn't aware 1977 was 55 years ago.
@@JacobNightingale 😂it's comin close.
My brother took me to the drive in to see this. I was 9. It was a two film show. This, and "JAWS 2". 😁
Finally a clip from my favorite movie
Yep. Jeremy Clarkson is definitely in that car
I imagine jumping cuts between the screaming cyclists, feared to death, and Jeremy just casually sitting in a car, talking, making jokes... especially when he rams the boy of the bridge: "Sometimes, my genius is just... frightning."
“Oooooooh in the plummmms”
"You see here the Yanks can't even outrun their own overweight vehicles. I'd have already pedaled back to London. Let's see how fast we can cover this bridge"
“Sometimes my genius is almost frighting”, says Clarkson just after having killed the guys.
Jesus…I’ve never felt my heart sank more watching this scene.
These were just kids like me going out and riding their bikes. The way that the kids screamed, especially the boy, as the Car tormented them before sending them to their deaths is genuinely hard to watch. It doesn’t help that I’ve always had a huge paranoia of being close to cars when riding a bike.
This is scarier than Christine and I can handle both!
And to traumatatize your heart sink deeper: 2:06

I guess they wanted their own Jaws... decided on a car lol
that was a really good stuntman fall.

I loved the horn on this car also that motor sounds cool
Yep
I think it had a 460 big block in it
Amazing things, bikes. They can go offroad.
HA!
🤣👍
Bruh yes they can go at a top of hill useing those bikes to get away from a creepy no one inside car
@@PeoPTFS you mean the self driving car
@@normalman2794 no
I love the obvious scene at 1:52 where the cyclist is clearly and securely standing on the bridge railing rather than flying over it.
You know, I never noticed that until now that I read your comment...hmmmmm.. lol
Several years later after this movie was aired, a driverless Uber car killed a cyclist. Different sets of circumstances.
I heard on CNN that they were playing a game of 'chicken,' and the bicyclist got 'dee-beaked.'
That scream from the poor guy as he falls off the bridge, the reverb on it and the way it grows more intense as the body draws closer to the ground, is blood-chilling. Excellent sound editing! 😮
I bet Michael Meyers could use an evil car when it's Halloween.
Well he did have that big ford station wagon in the first Halloween, but it didn't look all that intimidating....
This car and Mike Myers would become best friends
@@yahuchanonyakov he stole a 67/68 camaro convertible in part 5 and that look intimidating in the dark

What every motorist dreams of.
1:53 This Scream is similar to Charles Lee Ray
Every car drivers dream
Incidentally, living in a town where cyclists think they have law of the land... this was therapeutic. When adult cyclists are not screaming at pedestrians since they have overtaken the sideWALKS (ignoring the tax paying dollars that painted their "bike lanes"), I have had or seen cyclists scream and yell at motorists to make them feel dumb for driving across the painted bike lanes without stopping. When those lanes have stop signs just like every other thoroughfare, yet because they are doing "the green thing", they feel they don't have to pay attention to.
You clown!
@The Car 🤣🤣🤣🤣XD
There are very few cyclist where I live in san antonio texas
Motorcyclists are just as bad if not worse.
that car was even more daemonic than christine. at least christine had emotions. that car is a pure killer. excelent cult movie. pioneer and innovative for its time and of course with a low budget. cult movies were on a rise in the 70s. and personally yes! i liked that movie more than i liked john carpenters and stephen king s christine
Well said I couldn’t agree more!
One great movie would be this car vs the Duel truck.
The car was way more brutal than Christine
Where is that in the US? That looks like a gorgeous state park.
Thank you Mr. Car, I know it burns every time you have to say that name. Thank you for all that you do 🤝
It was filmed in 'Zion-Mount Carmel tunnel' in Zion National Park, Utah
@The Car Still causing Trouble are we?!!!
@The Car Why Did You Blast Your Horn At The Scene?
@@Dee_Nice89 Yes
Admittedly, that tunnel shot is very clever. You get a long burning shot of the tunnel, a ghostly humming gets closer, then you see the faint outline of a silver grill and lights coming towards you, and then, jump cut to the car literally running the camera over.
love the intro
1:10 I think the car was saying
“Hi,I am death"
Some people don't even know this but the way the car beeps it's horn there is actually a morse code it means "X" which sometimes means death, so he's basically saying death. LoL
Of all this movie still scares the crap out of me
Orange: Hey Hey Gecko
Gecko: *sigh* what?
Orange: Car!
*car horn*
Gecko: *scream*
Orange: Woah I guessed he had to run over to a friend’s house. *laughter*
I need that horn in my car to use when people poke in the left lane and won’t get over.
1:56 did anyone else hear the car fart?
In the cars defense there were no bike lanes.
As someone stuck behind groups of bikers on a road not deisigned to have bikers, I can understand The Car's frustration.
I REALLY LIKE THIS MOVIE...THE EFFECT AND THE ACTING..FABUOLOUS..
Omg that engine sound tho❤
definitely does NOT like bikes lol
So many things they could have done to get out of that situation.
number one: dont look tis movie ! :D
Fr like the girl when was gettiing grinded by the car to the wall, she could've hit the breaks...
That’s right. The could have not taken the role
I AGREE
Weren’t wearing helmets either. Bike helmets save lives. 🤓
Geico could save you 15% on cycling insurance
i can confirm that i'm with the car
I can sympathize with the car…… I hate those men in tights blocking traffic also. They are like the yuppie version of hells angels. Daring you to pass while they ride the yellow line.
Take the orange pill: @NotJustBikes
"the car" is the ultimate cult movies of the 70s along with "texas chainsaw massacre"
the car is the best especially the bit where it takes out the cyclists
Pretty eerie how it appears out of the tunnel! 😧
That’s One Evil Machine I Mean That Is The Most Dangerous & Most Evil Cars I’ve Ever Seen As A Young Boy Because I’ve watched this movie nearly 40 years ago back on Philadelphia’s WPHL17 during the time that this network used to have a nighttime program called The Moving Picture which aired this movie that one Friday night because this demonic machine has already killed a couple of kids riding bikes across a bridge then later a hitchhiker and then the terror went from there until a Sheriff’s Deputy and a handful of others buried it in the desert seeing a Devil flying up from the flames and all but this is one good horror movie .
Most of this sequence was filmed in Zion National Park, except for the bridge portions.
No back stroy i like it keeps it open.
When I saw this in theater the girls leg was being shredded from scraping against the guard rail. They deleted it now
How does hitting the tire cause him to fly sideways off the bridge?
Oh well who cares about logic
I think it’s prob because the car kept hitting the wheel making him lose balance so the car can push him off the bridge
i would say pit manuever, but idk
Suspension of disbelief.
this was filmed in Zion National Park, right?
It iz absolutely criminal they didn't make a sequel to this masterpiece --- absolutely " Criminal"
Actually they made spinoff sequel called The car 2 road to revenge.
@@marinaeleonorarobbstalsode5952 nawh Do you know the meaning of @sequel - you don't make a sequel to movie n take out the main character or use a totally different vehicle! You don't make a part 2 of Halloween 👻🎃 n don't include Micheal Myers!
Awesome movie
Beautiful scenery with "death" at the forefront 😅
Orange: Screaming
Car: Now your next!
Wish someone would post the whole movie on here. I remember seeing this movie as a kid on Creature Freatures on Fox channel 2 in the Bay Area.
remember seeing this for the first time when i was 7 in like 2008, nightmare fuel man
I am sorry, but you don't kill Nikki from "The Young and the Restless".
Poor Nikki Newman. 😞

The best horror car movies in 1977
Where can I watch this rn please tell
Christine feels about The Car kills two bicycles in the roal. Nice killer.
Some one should report that driver for reckless endangerment.
Then, the whole car turns up at court.
This is what happens when bikers take the whole lane
Don't know what's more evil. Duel truck or this fiendish black car.
Love those Cragar SST's
This is what envirementalists think usual car drivers do.
It looked like that car was possessed by the devil
It was because I’ve once watch this movie nearly 40 years ago as a young boy because this evil machine was possessed by the devil in which its mission was to kill humans and damn their souls the hell include the good people because I watch this movie back on Philadelphia PHL17 During a time when channel 17 once had a nighttime program called the moving picture which always shown these movies including this one which features a very demonic machine which was killing people in this one county.
@The Car have you ever met Christine?
Note to sell at this be a lesson to all the bikers that ride in the street
What's a _bicyclist_ ?
Did you mean _cyclist_ ?
Who has ever rode or driven this particular road!!??
Was Jeremy Clarkson driving The Car?
The movie...😒😑🤔
If the car is possessed by a demonic it doesn't need gas. Demons don't need gas.
They might've survived if they wore helmets.
Who pumped gas into that car?
Well technically christine was is a lot older car and been around a lot longer than this Lincoln. So the car is the baby of christine
THE CAR dose not like to share the road with others.
Il turn that car inside out rear bumper first
Shouldn't have to
The girl is Nikki from the Young and The Restless.
1:03-1:09-1:15,

Dig the Cummins engine sound, from The Duel 👍
I love the horn 10/ 10
Having spent many years driving to work trying to get around jackwagons on bikes in spandex, I am rooting for the car in this scene.
*Golden Rule of Horror Movies*
If you can easily get to safety when a psycho is trying to kill you in the most sadistic way, for God's sake *don't* do the smart thing that saves you from a dramatic death. If you do, you'll never work in movies or television again.
And ironically, there's nothing more frighteningly grotesque than having to work an ordinary job when your sights were set on fame and fortune.
I love that car when it’s black
Nikki Newman ( Melody Thomas Scott ) didn't last but five minutes into the movie. Where was Victor?
Bellissimo film 👍
Car fart @ 1:55
I WANT THAT HORN! (...heads to Alibaba to get a Chinese clone) 😜
There's something infinitely satisfying about this scene.
Yeah! The BROAD got it FIRST!
"...this character, if not dead, is not much fun anymore..."
PG-14 or R-18+?
Shoulda been wearing helmets.
I wonder what product the car used to clean the rubber mark off the bumper ?
Water and soap, dont forget to scrub HARD!

Always have an escape plan, particularly if you find yourself trapped in a horror movie.
Of course, they could have just pulled over onto the sand, where the car would have got stuck if it tried to hit them.
I feel the same way when I’m stuck behind cyclists on a mountain road
