Great, I was wondering how practical these budget scanners are for vfx. Obviously it's not blockbuster grade, but for solo artist it could be interesting. Can it do enviroments? I was always interested in the iphone lidar. It is really lowres, but it seems great for refrencegeo.

I'm really impressed by it. It can do large areas. They demo it on a car. Not sure what the max is but maybe it could do a small environment... We use the iPhone lidar on shoots at work but only for reference geo. It's very good for that

so for the next tutorial you used the revo scanner here to create the digi-double - Damn 900$ Pricetag though - worth it though if you don't scan a lot outside of wanting to do digi-doubles?

Yeah I used it to make the digi double. I agree it is a bit pricey but it definitely does a much better job than photoscanning. Not sure if I'd buy it myself as I don't do scanning models much. But if I did this definitely seems like the best tool for it

Why must the good stuff (even when it's on sale) be so fucking expensive?

Haha 😅 they're pretty pricey but after using it I would honestly say it's worth the money
