      +thiltzy1 did you ever get news about those dentures, the time period,if they belonged to the same person and if there was a body lower in the ground.

    • @thiltzy1
      @thiltzy1  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No body that we are aware of, we think they are late 1890's but not sure. Talked to a dentist for their opinion and thats what we came up with

    • @martinemjt
      @martinemjt 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +thiltzy1 really fascinating. i was wondering if the silver was not a way of always having passage on you if ever something happened ,or even a form of disguise for a n actor or a fraudster.

    • @martinemjt

      +martine. mjt disguise or if the dentures were not for an actor...............

      +thiltzy1 Maybe the dentist  who made them was traveling through the woods  & they fell out of his bag when he encountered a bear & quickly had to run up a tree : ) poor guy!

    • @ih8hertz1
      @ih8hertz1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ross Keene.. never had that....it was really just the handle off the metal detector...it was in the corner of field most probably the result of fly tipping

    I've watched thousands of MD videos. Those teeth take the cake and eat it too. Craziest thing I've seen. Saw the pictures earlier and now I get to see them dug. Not that it overshadows all the good early relics and coins you guys find. Your videos are always worth watching.

    Were any of those toofuses marked "G.W?" If we imagine early American history, we know George had a number of false choppers made over the years, including a set of floating wooden beauties, right after he'd sneezed his uppers over the side of the boat while crossing the Potomac River. When his dentist was forced to flee and hide from the Red Coats advance, he sought refuge with his brother in law's wife, who was living alone because her hubby was away battling the British Navy. The dentist hid them, but was shot by the brother in law when he returned unexpectedly eight months later, so they were never returned to George. Seriously though, a one of a kind find and the hunt wouldn't have been complete without a spoon.

    Stoney don't make silver supporting structure in false teeth. And that was 2 sets - each set contains an upper and lower plate. The lower is of course the horseshoe looking plate.

    That is so bizarre! I too found a stash of false teeth! I found them on a step old river bank dump that I noticed by the bottles sticking out of the bank.There were 20 sets with various numbers of teeth in them from full sets down to only 3-4 teeth left in the top or bottom plates. Plus another 33 blank ones that were all stacked up in the ground. The material of the ones I found were much deeper red in color and more of a real hard type rubber or something similar but not bakelite. This had to have been a local dentist that dumped these there......Thanks for posting this....really made my day....but destroyed MY strange hunting story! haha

    Hey Todd and Dave, just happened across this and laughed. One day while detecting I dug up a handful of individual teeth about 30 of them (no skull to be found). Lol Probably a dentist lived at that site... I showed the teeth to my dentist at my next teeth cleaning and he was amazed. He said they were definitely human and could tell they were from mid-late 1800's by the dental work. He cringed because the way they were sawed off and oozing with some kind of weird clumpy metal. With no pain meds like today... anyway, fun find!!

    Here's my take on the false teeth; a dog would take his owner's false teeth when he was asleep at night, while they were soaking in Everdent, go outside and bury them. When he'd get a new set, the dog kept doing it over and over, burying them in the same spot every time.....until the owner either died of starvation or ran out of money. Whaddaya think? Lol! I was surprised to see that there was no tarnishing evident on the silver portion of that denture. It makes me wonder if it's silver or an alloy of gold. It was my belief that silver wasn't used for dental work because of its ability to tarnish. You may want to have that metal tested because it may be "white gold".

    Not 4 sets, only two. Two upper dentures, two lower dentures. I'm betting they fit together. Reason I know this, is, I wear dentures. The ones with the full plate are the uppers, the ones shaped like a "U" are the lower. Probably tossed out when grandpa died. Who wants to keep teeth around?

    • @topherjoe1
      @topherjoe1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Heavyhaul Exactly what I was thinking, 2 sets and of no use to anyone but the person they are made for therefore disposable when that person is gone. Why 2 sets you may ask? If you wear dentures, you know how it feels to be without. Better safe than sorry, have a spare and never be without.

    I wonder if you were able to come up with an aprox date of the false teeth? Those looked fairly sophisticated, I've seen George Washington's false teeth at Mt Vernon, while they were very sophisticated for their time, they aren't nearly as well made as those. Very fascinating overall.

I mean I watch a lot of these videos and someone pulls a coin from the earth and swipes it with their thumb, scratching off the dirt. +Michael Riley It's a good question. I do use water only on silver coins. Water doesn't do any good on coppers though, they are all already enviromentaly damaged from sitting in the earth all these years. I have never sold anything i have ever dug so I do what is right for me

    Hey, very Cool story Kim Jameson said about George Washington's teeth. Hmm, wonder, could they be G.W.s? Wow, if so, you have a real piece of history, and maybe a small fortune.
    I'm pretty excited at your finds, but mostly the teeth, because I need some teeth. No, really. I'm not kidding, although i am laughing right now, at what you're probably thinking. No I don't want those. I had all my teeth removed because when I was a child, moved to the city and started drinking the city water treated with all kinds of chemicals, my teeth decayed. Went and got a mouth full of fillings, and the fillings are imalgam. Imalgam fillings were and (still are ) made up of anywhere from 40% to 52% MERCURY. Yep, Mercury, the 3rd most toxic substance on the planet, and the other percentage is Tin, Zinc, and a host of other cheap metals that have no business being in our mouths, contaminating our entire systems, and corrupting the functioning of our brain and other organs, as well as effecting the brain and organs of our unborn children. Check out Dr. Mercola channel on YT or Dr. Mercola dot.com or Mercury poisoned dot com if you're interested in more info. Good Gopher dot com is a new search engine that Mike Adams of Natural News has put up. It's a place that you can see some information not available on other search engines.
    The bottom line is that I had extreme toxic poisoning from the mercury, to the point of not being able to walk, for more than 2 yrs from the mercury leaking into my system. I removed all my teeth and everyday I felt better, except when I put in my temporary false teeth. After feeling ill every time I put those teeth in my mouth for about 4 months, I took the teeth out and have not put them back in my mouth. As it turns out, (the composition of the base of the false teeth is the exact makeup of False Nails) Acrylic. It is highly toxic to my system, so I cannot wear the teeth. I cannot even walk outside of one of those fake nail places without almost passing out.
    Besides enjoying all the metal detecting you do, and good job on the music, I am inspired to look even further for someone to make me teeth out of something else other than acrylic. They make partials out of "Flexite", which are Non-Toxic, but not the whole denture.
    To be fair to the dental trade, they were under a 50 yr. gag order, so they couldn't let this information out, until the yr. 2000. Now there is no excuse. 50% of the nations dentists still use Imalgam for fillings and 50% of the dentists came forward and offer alternatives to (Imalgam Fillings), since the gag order was lifted.
    Guys, didn't mean to get long winded here, but I wanted you to understand why I am inspired by something you thought was disgusting. Lol One thing I thought was funny was that the teeth themselves looked like real teeth. Hmm, wonder where they came from ? ; /
    Please wish me well on my quest. Hope you get a fortune for your teeth find. ; )

    • @thiltzy1
      @thiltzy1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DaveC1964 There is no best Machine, chose one according to the type of hunting you like to do. Some are better for coins and jewelery and some are better for relics, etc etc. We hunt almost exclusively on colonial sites so relics are what we are after. My White's Mxt Pro excels at relic hunting so it's a beast at cellar holes

      I would like to do coin shooting. I live in Illinois so gold nuggets are zero chance of finding. Of course that doesn't mean it shouldn't find gold as jewelry and gold coins may still be found. I would also like to be able to find coin hoards (wishful thinking). One that finds more coins and less pop tops, nails, and bottle caps would be nice ;)

    • @thiltzy1
      @thiltzy1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gold rings up in the pull tab and junk range and even as low as foil. No way around it, you have to dig junk to find gold

      Believe it or not they use to use real human teeth at one point but got wiser and decided it was a bad idea when the teeth decayed and became rancid
