What is the most important lesson you learned from this video? 💙🛹💙
W video, thanks
slow and steady commitment.
Get some speed and let the back wheels pop up off the coping to your back foot, so you don't get hung up.
@@markgaddini9538 EXACTLY I WAS TRYING TO LEARN THIS THE OTHER DAY AND I DIDNT REALIZE TO GET THE BACK WHEELS INTO THE BOWL YOU HAVE TO JUMP A LITTLE AND LET THE BOARD POP UP INTO YOUR FEET. I SLAMMED SO HARD SUPER USEFUL
Stay light-footed in the back seat!!
These lessons with an actual learning student rather than just telling the camera what to do make things so much more realistic and understandable. Great content, keep up the good work dude 👊🏼

After the drop in, roll in is one of the worst mental battles for skaters. Really like the way how the progression is presented to us...
And likewise one of the most ridiculous things to freak out about. Same as dropping in, you psych yourself out until you finally get it down and then when you do it you’re like, “that’s it?”
💙🛹🙌🏽🛹💙
rolling in was more mentally sketchy imo
Dropping in switch or rolling in switch is sketch lol for me
i’ve been doing roll ins for a long time off waterfalls and bowls with no coping but i still can’t get over the mental block of dropping in or rolling in over coping lol
I’ve been needing a video like this so bad! Roll-in’s have been a big hang up for me (literally)
💙😝💙
I like how if you hang up you don’t realise it until the moment you are laying on your face ❤️
👏💕👍🤙 Thanks for sharing JB and Dr. Mark

Dude I needed this, I know I have the skill to do it, to me it's all psychological, I just need to commit! Urrgghh.....next session it's happening 🔥
Same with me, I know I can but psychological part plays with my mind.

Good video. I'd like to emphasize that it should be tried on a soft curve first. And not to hurry trying it on a deeper curve. Only do it on a deeper curve when the manual over the copping is consistent.
And I think that in addition to knee pads some wrist protections may help too.
Yes, just follow along with the video and most people ready for this challenge should begin to gain confidence as well as understanding. 💙🛹💙
Awesome 😎 tutorial! Awesome 😎 Student. Great job!

I had these on lock for like 2 weeks until the timing of my back foot was off just a bit which caused me to slam. I’m gonna try again in the future but ya the slam is brutal. Really get a feel for the amount of time you can manual into a bump or big crack.

Hey bro, I just stumbled across this lesson and I'm curious (it's been 1 year since you said you were going to try it), how did it go and if you have any suggestions? Thanks!
@@markgaddini9538 I got to where I am comfortable rolling in on 2 - 3 foot transitions. The park I'm usually riding has a mini bowl with a twinkie protruding from the side which gives you the opportunity to just roll over the coping but not direct into the transition. That gave me confidence to know what it will feel like and now I don't mind rolling in on the small stuff. But dang, I go up to the combi bowl with a 6" transition and all of a sudden, it's like an abyss. BTW, it's a HUGE difference when riding 58mm wheels. Using 58's, the risk of hanging up is MUCH lower since they are large enough to stop your king pin from hitting too hard if you don't take the weight off your back trucks. Sorry to ramble, old guy skater here and I over analyze everything to reduce risks at the park so I can make it to work. LOL!
i was told today that i shouldn’t do roll ins so i’m trying to learn them independently (taking things slowly to not hurt myself) to show the guy that said it that i can do them :)
That's the spirit. Prove em wrong bro 🤘

I tried rolling in two years ago and my first couple of times were fine until I over done it missed all the transition and hit my hip So bad that it was black for weeks. I chipped it and now I have a little bone that I can move with my hand on my left hip side. Because of that I’m so scared to try again even know I know it’s a very important move/trick to know how to do in skateboarding, especially transition skating. I try it again here and there but only on smaller and mellower transitions. I even bought my self padded shorts and always wear full gear but still scared. Hope I’ll build that confidence again.
I’ve done the same, piece still moves around in my hip! I did not give up and mastered it. Then started learning ollies into ramps like a roll in. 💙🛹💙
Awesome.. it is a mind game. Dr Mark is the man. That took marbles when you never did it before.

The best part is that I understand his direction at the 3:10 mark. Can’t wait to give it a try….
I will fill y’all in on how it went 😂
🙌🏽🛹🙌🏽
Really liked the video actually teaching someone, but normally, wouldn't you approach the transition from a more angled position like backside/frontside to roll in easier? I saw they did that in another tutorial.
Thank you, Yes normally angled approach but that’s much harder to commit to when learning and you need to learn to feel your wheels bump the coping which requires straight on approach. Try it and let me know what you think 🛹
Woww these live instructions are amazingly informative. And the timing is spot on for me😉. When you say 'bumping the back wheels' you mean lifting your back foot so the board can bump up freely and into your feet right?
Correct 💙🛹💙
I’d be so afraid of the back wheels hanging up. How do you counter that from happening?
Bump your back wheels off the coping as we explain in the video 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessons thanks man 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
how to drop out the ramp please!
Drop in videos are in the videos section for you. Thanks
I feel I would rather roll in front side than straight on. Feels like my bodyweight would be closer to the transition.
Same. Even when you going straight at it that little frontside turn makes a huge difference.
Same here bro and backside is scaaaary
I just wondering if this exact technics is scalable to lets say 2.5m vertical drop in.... since the backweels bump you cannot dive in and follow the wall. On the other side if you dive to early your back wheels will hang up.
I recommend to watch my frontside and backside roll in lesson for that. 💙🛹💙
Great video, rly amps me up to get it done already >:D
but what exactly is bumping your backwheels? taking pressure off of them?
Yes, gently hop your weight off your board so it can bump off the coping and kick up into your feet 💙🛹💙
Has anyone managed this on a surfskate? I’m basically only riding a Yow surfskate now in parks and the front tucks are so loose and wobbly that it adds another level of psychological terror!
Yes you can do it, but if you just create the right normal skateboard setup with really loose trucks with a good turning radius it will basically match a surf skate and weigh less! 💙🛹💙
@@SkateparkLessons Thanks for the feedback! Like an 8.5” deck? Any suggestion on trucks?
How do you do the "hop" you're talking about in the video? You're doing a short manual to get the front wheels over the coping, but what happens then? :) I guess you need to get the weight off your back wheels by jumping somehow, right?
Just a gentle hop as if you are bumping over a crack in the pavement. If you are not sure how this feels find a street with gaps in the paving and ride along it and feel the timing to manual and hop as you hit the gap or crack and you will feel a little bounce.
Question: right at the beginning of the video, are your front wheels supposed to contact the coping?
Good question! They can but that comes from practice and precision. Typically they don’t. 💙🛹💙
Rolling in is my favorite way to roll into any quarter 7 ft or shorter, it gives you speed tail drops just can't
Watching this, I got this feeling that, on a deeper bowl, if you don't compress enough, you'll wind-up falling backwards. Is this correct?
It’s possible but your imagination is usually worse than reality when you slam. If you have enough experience and courage to try a deeper bowl, you’ll make it. 🛹🙌🏽🛹
Are bigger, softer wheels better for this?
Good question, no typical hard urethane skate park formula is fine but you’re welcome to use whatever you like. No rules 💙🛹💙
