I actually pulled Exodia once for my opening hand during a duel at my local booksamillion when I was a kid was amazing. They actually checked my deck to see if I was stacking was one of my favorite wins.
This happened to me in a middle school Yu-Gi-Oh club back in the early 2000s. I was like "umm...well that happened..." While staring at my cards.

i remember rewatching the yugi vs rebecca duel and rebecca had lethal with cannon soldier for several turns. she was so cocky from the start by summoning sangan and witch in atk to the beatdown with shadow ghoul to just toy with yugi. i'd say shes dueling properly by having fun playing

Another fact regarding "Celtic Guardian": In the German version the name of the TCG card is "Keltischer Wächter", a literal translation of "Celtic Guardian", whereas in the German dub of the Anime the monster is called "Elfenschwertkämpfer", literal translation of "Elf Swordsman", which (as you said) is the name used in the English dub as well as the japanese name.
Because of this, many German children were quite confused because the monster they knew from the Anime had a totally different name in the real life TCG.
I'm also quite sure that many German children don't know much if anything about the Celts (and that they were real people and not fantasy creatures such as elves), which probably only increased the confusion. :-D

Not sure if ye used it during Duelist kingdom specifically but nog syre if you fotgot about it but Yugi also used Penguin Soldier in his deck a couple of times in the anime.
Very weak card in reality but it has a devestating effect of returning 2 monsters your opponent controls back to the hand

funny thing is, I've seen an actual first turn Exodia. A friend of mine use to have a card stand out at the local Fleamarket where he'd let people play, and would host casual tournaments for a couple packs here and there. And when I say casual, I literally mean this kid showed up to join, and his deck was quite literally a random assortment of cards, with the 5 Exodia pieces. He and a different friend shuffled up, cut each others deck where in my friend shuffled the kids deck himself. they drew their hands and my friend asked "How we ganna decide who goes first?" and the kids responds was just "Um....I win?" after a laugh, he laid his hand out, and it was fucking Exodia, all 5 pieces. The salt there was my friend shuffled that deck himself, so he literally gave himself a fucking Exodia turn zero loose. After some ragging on my friend, cheers to the kid, and the shop keep giving the kid a free pack for a legit turn zero Exodia, they went to game two and the kid was demolished.
The artwork for Makiu, reminds me of the background for M. Bison's stage in street fighter alpha 3
I imagine so many of these were episode 5 exclusive because Yugi realized he almost lost to one of the worst archetypes/gimmicks ever and knew he had to rethink everything about the game to save his gramps.

The card taking no damage meaning the opponent's attacking monster would be treated as 0 attack so the defending monster won't be destroyed by battle, instead of you take no damage but the monster is still destroyed

How Yugi and Joey's shared Fusion was Black Skull Dragon (instead of Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon), how instead of Dark Magician, Yugi defeated Weevil with Summoned Skull in Duelist Kingdom and was about to defeat Pegasus with it in their first duel, why Pegasus toonified Summoned Skull instead of Dark Magician, why Summoned Skull now has Effect, Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, Xyz, and Link versions of itself compared to Yugi's other monsters who got retrains... Also, if you swap the 1 and 2 in its DEF, then it has the same ATK/DEF as Dark Magician! Not only that, but Summoned Skull's Level and DEF both being lower than Dark Magician's while sharing the same ATK could reference how while Atem is stronger and more capable and experienced than Yugi, both are equally strong (in their own way)!
Oh, yeah, forget Gandora! Summoned Skull really is Yugi's true ace! 🌟😈💀🌟

I'm surprised you didn't mention thay Black Luster Soldier was originally designed to be Yugi's ace monster, and was originally going to be a normal monster.
Takahashi originally wanted their featured cards to have the same stats and levels, but ended up going with the Dark Magician instead.

something fun you can do with Mystic Box is combine it with Remove Brainwashing's effect. this way, you get a free monster removal, and you keep your monster (the only way to recreate the anime effect of Mystic Box i'm afraid)

25:23 First off when I saw Exodia listed there I want to point out... EXODIA DOES NOT COUNT AS ONE OF YUGI'S DUELIST KINGDOM MONSTERS!!! While some would argue that it was in the arc, it was lost forever to Yugi when Weevil being the arrogant cheat he is threw the cards off the ship. The first time Exodia was brought back was by the Rare Hunter that stole Joey's Red-Eyes, and that in a way was symbolic as he like Weevil won his duels through cheating. Next time we saw Exodia in the anime was in Enter The Shadow Realm when Kaiba faced his step-father in the virtual world, and last was in the Dawn of the Duel arc. As for Black Skull Dragon and Dark Sage, those were only summonable through the help of Joey.

So pegasus pretty much just copy and pasted Egyptian "monsters" sealed in stone to make duel monsters(in the Yugioh universe), when did the vikings do their viking stuff? Was it after ancient Egypt fell? On the point of Dark Magician: There's a GBA game where, in the European version, one Dark Magician support card erroneously refers to the monster as "Dark Spellian". Someone really fucked up there...
Also, with Battle City rules in Season 2, Gaia The Fierce Knight became literally pointless as Dark Magician required the same tributes for a stronger card with better support, and Summoned Skull was as strong as Dark Magician but without any real support at the time, for only one tribute. Gaia simply wasn't worth the investment.
