20 yr paramedic here. Loved seeing your thoughts on what can be done with a retired ambulance. Personally my favorite retired ambulances are the ones you turn into Ectos, but this one is cool too. Keep up the good work!
Best base for conversion to a camper. Upmost build quality, pre wired, insulated with uber outside storage. No brainer. 7.3 is a die hard monster of an engine. Worth losing a little MPG for dependability and longevity. Great vid.
The deal on these ambulances can get even better, my buddy bought one and it still had the stretcher in it, he sold it to cash4cots for over $6,000! It was in great shape and was one of the motorized ones which makes it very valuable. That ended up subsidizing a large percentage of the cost of his ambulance.
@VideoBob.... Your one hell of a salesman! I'm actually in the process a purchasing a 2000 E350 Ambulance, with OD 120K miles. it was pre built out so it's ready move in!
Yes Bob I’m a car collector but yes my Ford Excursion has the 6.0 powerstroke turbo diesel and really wish that I bought the 7.3 power stroke diesel and it is definitely positively wish that they put that motor in my truck my brother has the Excursion with the 6.8 V10 gas guzzler lol I absolutely love everything you do you are so smart and talented I’ve been super impressed with your work and your a very positive young man. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
@@Jason_Phillips3679 then you can do it mother, jugs and speed style or go the typical Ghostbusters way, IDK but there is just something that is kind of funny about making a tiny home out of a "meatwagon"🤭
I got to work on one in auto technology class with two batteries under the hood and the light controllers were in the storage compartments on the driver side.
Ran those for years. If transmission starts slipping or smelling, unhook the trans cooler start it for a few seconds reconnect and refill with 3 quarts Lucas stop slip and keep going another 2 or 3 hundred thousand miles.
I think the bigger reason most people gut the interiors of these is because there is a huge stigma attached to ambulances. People are worried about catching something infectious from touching the surfaces inside.
I have a ‘96 E350 and it’s not the infection people are creeped as most are sanitized daily. People believe that the injured have died inside and left behind haunted spirits, etc.
The mileage on retired police, fire and EMT vehicles is not what you should go by. With the amount of idling these vehicles do, you always need to go by engine hours instead. Typically, idle engine hours will amount to the same engine wear as 5x (or more) of what the mileage on the odometer says... unless it's an ex-highway patrol or a supervisor car.
it is like looking at the insides of a giant computer with those circuit boards ( if only computers opened that easy wouldn't have to wait weeks for a repair job )
I do dumb shit, best statement ever Bob. 🤣🤣🤣 I daily drive a 99 F-250 superduty with the 7.3 powerstroke with over 300k miles and it runs like a dream.
wow so cool congration on geting and ambulance so cool i like that i used watch emergency 51 on tv on that one have to get out go back i got cousin work for fire dept also my uncle was a firemen too ty for video this so cool
Bob! Get set up I'm coming to see theses Vehicle's, Yes as soon as your open im calling booking some time to see what you got to Show Bob ..lol iits So true about the Ford lol you could park a car on it ...amazing heating and cooling. Cheers Bob!
Take care of the Kussmaul and make sure your chassis batteries are good. When it shits itself you're screwed. Also try to make sure all parasitic drain is gone, because it doesnt show itself till someone forgets to plug it in.
bob when are we ever gonna see you in a lowrider!!? the lowrider super show just passed out there and your now in a place were lowriding is huge! i give anything to see you hittin switches lol
That's exactly what I thought to 9/11 Bob . Yes it's made for alot of situations , so glad this was mentioned . It's in nice condition to what a great buy , I like it alot .
@@RobertMoseley I know I own an Auto Glass Shop. But wasn't it you take made a video about getting the Excursion Windshield Replaced and the guy took it out and wouldn't put the new one in? It's been a few years
You mean a "meatwagon", because people die in ambulances. This would especially be true if it was one of those Cadillac chassi'd ambulances that him and many other ghostheads build Ectos from, because most of them also are a hearse
How do you insure it, I am having issues when I call companies with the VIN number and they do not want to even talk to me. Pre Conversion or post conversion.
Ill be watching this series. This is amazing. Very informative video.
Agreed I actually almost bought one but I decided to go to Dunkin Donuts instead.

My first thought when I see the thumbnail...camper conversion 🤣 great rig Bob 👌
Happy our Ambulance went to a good home, good luck with the conversion.
Unbelievably well kept! I have a ‘96 but she’s pretty Rusty

Seriously been wanting one of these for years now for the same reasons!

EVT here, one of the local responder contractors has two of these still in service with almost 300k on them.
“I do dumb shit.” Gonna give Hoovie a run for his money, eh? 😝
A Epic Comment lol Sean you got me crying here! Nice one! 🤝✌
I have a 1997 Ambulance that looks like yours. Added solar, and getting ready to be a nomad in my tiny house!!!
Do u have any videos on it?

Could make a bad ass tailgate vehicle too! Lots of TVs and sound

True probably the best bang for your buck - all great points👍
Behind the driver door there is a rectangular box with a lid, likely to plug into shore power to keep the batteries charged.
looks good. for a second i thought you were being contracted to make an Emergency! tv show replica.

Man that thing is in killer shape
Some would say that it’s to die for
i totally agree leaving the interior alone and just doing simple modifications. there's already a lot of stuff already in place for a conversion
I like the huge Overland ambulances, F550 or even big rig

I think he just liked the Red color and said "man I have a chubby, I want this" lol
Good mechanic shop truck too.
Damn this is nice, Hope you have fun with this project. This sounds nice so I'm gunna folow along
Dang! I saw all those flashing lights and thought Bob got a mobil casino!
Be a good Texas Hold’em Poker table setup , just 20 years too late
Looks great
the rooftop bars is where the medics hung the iv bags on it too
You can probably put a toilet where the C.P.R chair is
All those ambulance features are great. But I know the reason you really bought it is because it's ( RED ) & has RED lights 🔴🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨♥️🤗
ThTs cool Bob! 😎

only plastic trim

Fun fact how to tell a Wheeled Coach Ambulance/Rescue is the four corner strobes/LED flashing lights on the actual box.
I don't think they will bother you if you park overnight in the Walmart lot.

We have been looking for a type 3 Ambulance to convert to an Emergency Wheelchair Transport Vehicle.
How do you insure it, I am having issues when I call companies with the VIN number and they do not want to even talk to me. Pre Conversion or post conversion.
How many idle hours?
No meter like stuff made today has. But those 7.3’s don’t mind idling
👍🤘
Go checkout 'The Campulance Man' on YT...He's done his ambulance incredibly well.
Ex-Los Angeles Fire Dept. unit.
Well that explains the NEW YORK plates!!!
@@RobertMoseley this was not FDNY or LAFD it came from a smaller department

Do you still make kitt cars if so please let me know thank you

That Truck was Not an FDNY
you do no, NY is a state? right? NY is a big state it could have been a New York Ambulance, just FDNY.
You do realize New York is much more than just a city right?
i work part time for an EMS service ask me anything.
