Thanks again Marc. Just completed my 1992 door panel repair. I put three screws in each side of the lighter leather area and two in the black leather area, 6 inches from each side and 3 inches down the panel. The middle one would never tighten completely (even longer) but the two in the black area and the 2 outer ones in the beige area held well without interfering with the glass. This is the best and least expensive solution! Richard in Houston.
I'm going to do the same repair on my 92 C4, I ordered the snap caps awhile ago just haven't done it yet FYI you can get a can of perfectly matched interior spray paint from Corvette Central,it works great, though it is kind of pricy , l think I paid about 30 bucks for it, but but it's a perfect match,and it is very durable, l had to change my passenger side door handle that broke off at the top but couldn't find a light grey door panel, so I got a dark grey one and used handle off of it, painted it with that paint, it hasn't rubbed off one bit from use at all, and you can't tell it was once a darker grey.nice video, helping me figure out what length screws to use.

Thank you for your help my door panel broke and the only alternative was to buy a new panel the repair was easy and the door looks great and also Pro-Dec company for the snap-caps was really great and easy to work with thanks
Not self tappers, but they could have/should have been. I did pre-drill the holes. And believe me it made me nervous as hell taking the drill to my car. But it worked out. Let me see if I can find one of the screws and send you an image. They are just black anodized screws similar to the original equipment screws all around the upholstery. I think I put an image in the video, did I not? I know the video is too long. I should shorten it.
I recommend self-tapping but I would drill a small pilot hole anyway I think. Just make sure you use Pan Head screws so they hold the snap cap base evenly.

@@rockbailey8516 if memory serves, I may have used a flat washer under the pan head just to secure the snap cap base and prevent the screw from squeezing through the snap cap base and the door panel. On the other hand, using a washer might raise the profile of the screw too much for the snap cap to fit. I don’t recall for sure. I say you try a washer as well but it might not be necessary if the pan head is large enough. Sorry I can’t say for sure but it’s been awhile and my car is under cover currently. Just remember to study the inside of the door first so you place the screw in a place that will not adversely affect anything else.

There is an unused boss for a screw under the door panel on the jamb edge of the inner door. Putting a screw there accomplishes the same thing and is completely invisible.
The way might driver side door is busted, this is probably the only repair option I have. Glad I ran across it, will try soon. With as many exposed screw heads in the C4, I might be able to get by with black screws in my black interior although I do have the screw head covers ready
That’s fine because your opinion matters zero on this end. This is for my personal driving enjoyment. It’s not a show car. With that in mind, have you ever faced this problem? Are you a C4 owner? The alternatives paths to a perfect resolution are few. New panel. Or very complicated surgury on the back side that might not work or will itself fail. And I happen to think the snap caps are perfect and unnoticeable. They blend in and you ignore them. You especially pay no attention to them when you are cruising at 100 mph with your other vette compadres. Women and non-vette people pay them zero mind.

Well it’s a good solution if your not a fanatic about keeping your car 100% OEM. Yes I believe you have summarized accurately.

I’ll tell you what I do remember. You want pan heads. You need the under side of the screw head to lay flat upon the snap cap escutcheon.

Holding up just fine. I am happy and I never pay attention to the snap caps, which is what I expected to happen .
Same issue. Do you have photos of the screws ? Self tapping ??? My 93 has exactly same color interior combo. Same polo green.

I do wonder why he didn’t show us the drilling ( was it a step bit/ regular bit/ pre drill panel first then metal door etc but definitely a idea video

Someone was selling a heap of these NOS not long ago, i know that is much more expensive, but it'll look factory perfect again.
Has anyone tried heating up the plastic with a gun to see if it can be bent back to normal?
