Ok enough with the overrated stuff.. what are some good underrated supplements that you take personally that you can recommend?
Creatine, whey protein, maybe a multivitamin. You don't need supplements if your getting all you need from your meals. Most of it is junk.
@@sandeepmaity8699 I never seen that video, what’s the link, I want to see it thank you.
@@sandeepmaity8699 im pretty certain he says creatine too...tho is not really underrated as its generally exepted as being a reasonably good supplement. So maybe it's not on its underrated list, he is a fan of it tho
Cod liver oil! Thats a multivitamin and omega 3 all in 1. Add some whey protein and maybe creatine and thats all you will ever need. If you get sore/stiff a lot and have a hard time recovering add some magnesium. Thats it. You wont need anything more. Just eat food, sleep a lot and train hard.
If this guy gets shredded to the bones and gets totally bald
He will definitely look like Saitama
He is wrong about supplements not increasing testosterone. Tongkat Ali increases it by up to 37% in proven studies
Imagine Sean working at a supplement store, he would turn all customers away and make the shop go bankrupt.
😄 I'm sure he would stop himself and save the customer before starting the speech on the company's motto to the customer
He wouldn’t turn people away from Tongkat Ali this mf said no supplements increase testosterone by a lot. Haha do you think 37% is a lot or no? Proven research says Tongkat does just that. Bs coming out this man’s mouth lol😂 -and I usually respect him…
@@bradleyhommerson6541 37% increase in testosterone is not much at all. You'd need 1000s of percentage increases to actually have a huge significant difference in testosterone. 37% is literally less than a daily fluctuation in the night and day
Not if someone is vegetarian or vegan. Not all proteins stay protein in the body. Eggs, for example, turn into protein in your body at a higher rate than other proteins. I would be there to correct his misinformation
I just recently find out about your channel. By far the best I've seen on here. Having worked in the fitness industry for quite some time I know lots of people are looking for quick fixes. Searching for the trick of trade without even coming close to mastering the actual trade and thus falling for a lot of BS from people who want to profit from that. We need more people/channels doing exactly what you are doing.
I worked at a supplement store for 2 years and have been consuming supplements for even longer. 100% agree with this, I’ve always said test boosters and bcaas are a waste of money. Weight gainer supplements can help, but he’s right again, it’s better to use actual food, even if it’s blended into a shake. Still, if you can’t afford the time and effort to plan food shakes, weight gainer supps will help to increase calorie intake and provide protein simultaneously.
The only supplements I can say that truly make a noticeable difference are protein, creatine, and preworkout.
Sorry but your restarted if you think all the caffeine and stims in a pre workout build muscle and aren't vasoconstrictors the opposite of what you want when trying to build muscle.
@@Greeceforever9774 You don’t even need the coffee mate.
You never need caffeine, people just prefer it
Most of these mass gainers have a photo of jacked bodybuilders on them when in reality consuming them will make you fat and not jacked due to the insane amount of sugar and maltodextrin in them.
The recommended dosage mentioned on the containers can easily go above 1000 calories, way more than necessary.
you will only get fat if you're in a massive calorie surplus. Mass gainer are useful for skinny guys who struggle to eat enough,
@@cartman1363 Even as a skinny guy you should try to get you're calories from healthy clean sources. It's way healthier and easier to just make a shake with some protein powder and fruits etc etc.
@@thereisnofinishline5773 I take two per day because of the convenience, whey protein and a couple tablespoons of peanut butter and fruit do not equal 1000k I'm on 3500 calories per day, I work, I go to the gym, I don't have the time to make 6 meals a day, so 3 meals some snacks and two shakes is way easier, at least I can still enjoy life without having to center it around eating clean all the time and literally forcing food down my throat. Also fuck sean.
Eaa are usually consumed when replacing a meal during a cutting phase
I use Ashwaganda mainly for the stress reduction. It also at least has a good placebo effect for me if it doesn't boost test enough
Ashwagandha has revitalized my training at 55.
Strength, energy, musculature, and mental outlook. 😎👍
It def boosts test man. I've been on actual test cycles and I mean it doesn't come close to actual test but it fucking works
I consumed a large box of that stuff as instructed on the package and I saw 0 effect on anything at all. 🤷🏻
A lot of BCAA blends have a lot of ingredients directly focused on prolonging your workouts, improving cognitive function as well as providing a helping hand to recovery on days you’re not able to eat the best possible way you can. They may not be necessary but they sure have their place in the gym.
I also very much agree with them having a place in the gym, especially for anyone going hard at it
BCAAs when you're cutting - protects your muscles so you lose less muscle mass
EAAs when you're bulking - stimulates regeneration and therefore more growth
And yes you can get them all through eating protein or drinking protein shakes but to get the effect you would have to drink/eat a whole lot at once, plus when you're cutting you would prefer a low caloric shake with BCAAs over a calorie full shake so you can eat a whole meal instead of just a shake
- my opinion, used to hate on those supplements too until I tried it
@@if5069 Bro stop the bs. Bcaas and eaa's are just amino acids blends. Stop saying that "thIS gOoD fOr cuUttIng aNd ThIS bESt foR bUlKiNg".
Like stfu just eat more or eat less
Not yanking the snake is my test boost lol
Idk man, I always feel pretty weak for the rest of the day whenever I do it
I could easily go off on 20 or more different overrated supplements here, but these are just a few that immediately came to mind.
Also, a few additional notes to keep in mind…
- If you have certain micronutrient deficiencies that are contributing to lower testosterone levels (vitamin D being the most obvious, or potentially zinc/magnesium) then supplementation could potentially assist in that area.
However, as far as how most over the counter testosterone boosters are marketed and how most people *think* they work ("I take this... I make more testosterone... I build more muscle"), it's going to be a waste of money.
(Our RealScience Athletics "Microcore" formula includes those three vitamins/minerals in high quality forms and proper dosages if you want to check that out: RealScienceAthletics.com/product/microcore/)
- There could be some minor use for amino acid blends in certain niche situations (vegans with a slightly lower protein intake for example, or for fasted training - though you're technically no longer "fasted" if you consume them and could just have some whey instead), but for the vast majority they're not going to be necessary if you just eat enough regular protein.
- Weight gain powders could be used in moderation if you just wanted an easy/convenient way to get in some extra calories while on the go and have a hard time meeting your daily needs. However, a homemade option will be far superior both in terms of nutritional value and taste.
You also don't need a huge calorie surplus to maximize gains in the first place, and sitting around pounding weight gain shakes all day trying to get huge is a great way to go overboard and just get fat instead. (I've been guilty of this in the past)

Isn't leucine a good addition to the protein powder to trigger more protein synthesis after work out?
I remember first taking mass gainers to start getting me in a surplus, but afterwards didn’t really do much after that once I got used to eating my calories
I could see how the bcaa and other preworkout supplements could be useful for those who are trying to get gains but follow vegetarian and vegan diets where healthy protein can be hard to obtain. Especially considering protein options are more limited when one is on such a restricting diet.
Thank you bro your advice for someone like me with no experience or pt is really helping me avoid mistakes social media is advertising.
Thank you for these vids!
EAA’s I can see an argument for 2 reasons: some small literature suggests EAAs and carbs as an intra workout increase nutrient uptake and could lead to more hypertrophy. But the second more important one is for someone like myself who trains first thing in the morning instead of eating as I fell nauseated and this reduces my performance I take intra carbs and EAAs as I walk to the gym. (As personally I cannot digest whey very well)
My goal is to become 3/4 as jacked as Sean. Let's go!!
Can any of you speak to the effectiveness of BCAA's while fasting to avoid muscle loss but still keep the fasting true?
Great info! Thanks
What do you think about ecdysteroids?
I personally did an 8 week cycle of 500mg of ecdysterone and i noticed a small increase in muscle mass but i have no idea if thats just a normal 2 months progress or if that cycle had something to do with it.
How long have you been training? If you are relatively new then yes it may had just been newbe gains. if you have been training for years then chances are it was the supplement
Hey wassup man I just want to say your videos have really helped me as far working out having proper muscle failure techniques etc. I have lost 30 pounds so far in the past 4 months I was 278 now I'm 248 and slowly seeing results little by little. Keep up the good work as it can help many people especially those who are beginners and just getting back into working out.
Aren't BCAAs good to drink if you get really sore after a total body workout? I do cardio and weights everyday and eat pretty sizable meals packed with chicken and eggs, rice, oats. etc and i get really sore if i don't drink BCAAs.
Hey Sean what’s your opinion on derek’s new Sigma test booster?
Thank you, very informative like always❤
The ISSN journal says that eaa's before or after workout showed significant gains
@@giornogiovanna6215 Exactly, a protein shake already contains eaa's which makes supplementing with them redundant.
I only eat once or twice a day. 100 grams of protein is NOT easy for me.
I apreciate your no BS style content. Thank you and keep doing what you do
Great take Sean! I especially love the perspective on mass gainers. I've been preparing a "weight gainer" by blending oats peanut butter tahini chia seeds nuts and whey protein.
Nothing wrong with weight gainers. I use them on a bulk all the time and I'm 5"11, 235lbs, 12% bf.
Also multivitamin, creatine, testosterone
Only reason I take BCAAS is because I don’t have a high protein diet because I don’t get much time to eat during the day, so most of the time I’m eating crap.
I need a review of CarnivoreMD’s protein powder rant ASAP lol
“As long as you are eating enough protein, which is pretty easy to do”
It is? 🥲
When he said that I opened the comments to see.... You did not disappoint Mr top comment lol
Yeah eggs for breakfast, some chicken at lunch, snack some nuts, some beef for dinner and finish with a protein shake. That even too much protein in most of the cases
@@antonvorobets4760 and if you are vegetarian or vegan? At most we can eat 3+g of protein naturally just through nutrients at meal time, with most of our nutrition coming from supplements in the first place. I wish I could eat meats in my diet but I don't know if its psychological or physical but I can't stomach meat being digested
Good stuff Sean!
What are your thoughts on essential amino acids for someone who is allergic to almost every protein supplement?
Freeform aminos like BCAAs can reduce doms specifically because they're freeform and not subject to the first pass effect of the liver
I wish I didn’t need them but BCAAs help with my Doms like nothing else does.
Accurate content. I don’t agree with the EAA. (Essential Amino Acids) they are essential because your body can’t create them. Most of the time you won’t get the full amount definitely worth supplementing. Everything else is extra and a waste at that point.
whole protein foods such as white meats and egg whites give you plenty.
So i wasted my money on a "muscle gainer" with 31g protein and 631 calories per scoop that im having the hardest time swallowing and feeling like ill throw up?
I totally agree with the EAAs/BAAs, however I probably don’t get enough protein in my diet. And the drink that I use intra workout (EAAs) Is slightly salty so it actually makes me drink more water during my workout than I would normally end it helps cover the very sour taste of citrulline malate/creatine HCl (Mono hydrate messes with my stomach)
Have you done videos on oxyshred?
Don’t agree with the aminos. Everyone’s different and will respond differently but for me bcaa’s are the only supplement that speeds up my recovery.
That's bcoz you are either not eating enough protein, or eating incomplete sources of protein.
@@prafulyadav661 No disagree. My protein intake and macros are good and I have proof of it because of my gains. I just respond to amino supplements like some ppl respond to creatine supplement as an example. However creatine does nothing for me. It all comes down to what works for you individually. Bca’s definitely work well for me.
@@roberte289 how do I know that bca’s help my recovery, you’re asking? Because of how I feel the next day when I’m using them vs when I’m not using them. Ppl don’t realise that you need to cycle aminos because your body becomes desensitised to them and they become pretty much useless as a supplement, and can even cause problems. I use them in a cycle of 1 month on 1 month off. Works well for me.
Thoughts on AG1 (Athletic Greens)?
I agree 80%. However.. during a fasted cut, bcaas are a great pre/intra- workout addition.
Overall I do value your opinion and advice. But people like to do things differently to the norm..
Upon further investigation, you mention this in your additional information. I'm glad you did. Cause it confirms that you are legit and I again I do value your channel. My bad for not checking before commenting
I agree mostly, however if you take a good amino acid blend at an appropriate time your body will use BCAA levels faster than having to break down the protein from your diet and then use it, this is for advanced lifters and people with a poor diet
What are your thoughts on carbohydrate powder? I take them before my 4am workout. I wake up and go straight to the gym.
Spot on!
When I first started lifting weights years ago when I was 18 I couldn't gain weight for shit until I started taking a mass gainer. My life changed after that.
Eating enough protein in a day can be tough. I swear I am eating like four meals a day just to hit 170 grams.
I normally eat 6 on my training days to get in 170 to 180 grams tho 2 of them are protine shakes . Normally about 5 on my non training days to get in 150 grams of protein one of them would be a protine shake. I don't actually find it that hard to be honest cause training spikes my hunger so I never have to force food down me . obviously the shakes help too
Thanks. I got into lifting about a year ago. And really dialed in my nutrition. Seann has saved me a ton of money this year. ❤
Consuming mass gainer for 10 months now.. i'll try whey + oats soon. I just hope the texture of the liquid wasn't too thick or lumpy for the same amount of calorie mass gainer gave.
I really feel that l-tyrosine and ashwagandha supps really makes a difference though. Not so much in the gym, but just with general cognitive support
What is the best protein supplement you recommend for post workout? I know your other videos you’ve talked about how protein shakes aren’t magical and are really just an easy option to help you meet your daily protein goal, but what is a brand you trust?
I have a question about the BCAAs of I’m not getting enough sleep to recover right would it be a good idea to take even if I’m eating enough protein? Would it be worth it then?
What’s everyone’s favorite shake for a lean calorie increase? I’ve also found that weight gainers don’t necessarily add lean weight. I usually go with protein, banana, peanut butter, + a scoop of fiber (I change it up occasionally), but I’m curious to hear about some others that I maybe haven’t tried.
Do you recommend amino acid supplements for those who intermittent fast?
Eggs & other proteins don’t help with my muscle soreness like BCAAs do. I’d love to not require them but nothing else helps.
Couldn't agree more Sean. Always spot on mate
What happened to the main channel? Did I miss something?
Hubberman has a podcast discussing

Ashwagandha and Tongkat Ali can boost test by hundreds together
I take scoop of whey after workout rest from food. Bcaa, eaa, supplement industry need to make 20 amino profile that is good option to take but no comparison with food.

This is probably your best Short til now. A lot of knowledge and no bullshit compressed into one short.
There was a skinny dude in my gym. I approached him about diet. He said "I will buy a Mass Gainer next week to help me" I advised him not to invest in them and rather make his own Banana Oats Milkshake daily.
I'm currently on Bulk and am seeing great Strength gains So I gave him the exact plan I made for myself. Its up to him if he applies it. I did what a good human would do.
Yo can you tell me what's your plan and how to make the shake? I'm a begginner and i've been struggling with my diet
@@PauloCesar-vh5kk sorry for late reply.
I use 500ml Buffalo milk(it has better overall macros comparing to cow milk), 60gm or a cup of oats, 2 whole bananas(around 100-120gm), 1-2 Tablespoon Peanut Butter (normally 50-60grams), and some coffee
Totalling to 1200-1300 calories, 45-50gram of protein, 100gram carbs, 70-75gram fats.
It may cost only 2$ to make which is pretty cheap compared to market mass gainers which cost around 30-40$ and only last 10-12 days with less macros
Creatine is it important? And should eat after workout?
thank you i really was waiting for this
EAA’s actually do have a benefit for a boost in protein synthesis when added to ur diet. And there’s actually a test booster that actually works.
Thoughts on glutamine
Man, your free fitness program has been more effective than anything I've done in years. Thank you
Love this guy! Nothing but the truth!!
I make smoothies with whey protein and fruits and milk, I put ginger in it but not much bc it has a strong flavor, but aparently it boosts test
He literally put every ingredient in my protein shake on the screen at the end lmao I do strawberries bananas a splash of OJ for some antioxidants a spoon of peanut butter for the calories and 2 scoops of protein powder hahaha
Any recommendations for creatine suppliers I can trust? I don't wanna order something off Amazon and get a product that isn't actually real.
What do you think about tonghat ali and fandoja agrestis not sure if i spelled that right
Jim Stoppani is a big proponent of BCAA and Beta Alanine. I would love to hear your response.
By the way. Its not just about protein, greens are rich in amino acid which your body will process and put where it needs to go, either as proteins or nutrients stored in other places.
weight gainer smoothie: oats/almonds/spinach/dates/banana/cucumber/moringa/water
I have a quick question does Ryse loaded protein powder has iron supplements so I could take my protein powder more carefully?
Valine in bcaas before a workout is all you would need to keep you from fatigue. EAA have been shown to increase protein utilization when taken before a workout. Want cheaper EAA add collagen to your shake
Thx:)
Well, depends - my doctor prescribed EAA and other amino acids and they seem to work, but that’s totally unrelated to gain muscle mass and more due to an overall lack in amino acids causing problems
do review market right now have a lot hydration product. Is it necessary to buy?
Anyone know the natural compounds that work to slightly raise testosterone?
Sean, if you follow a vegetarian diet are bcaa’s more useful?
I often work out in a fasted state and don't reach my eating window for several more hours. For that reason I supplement with "perfect amino" right after my workout. Also, I wouldn't say the it's "easy" to reach 220+ grams of protein in 8 hours of eating unless your diet is strict, limited, and centered around meat. As long you choose the right supplement, amino acid blends can work wonders 💪
What do you think of Derek's "Sigma" ?
I got a bottle of that out of curiosity. Been on it for a couple weeks, I've gained a few pounds of muscle and have been crushing PRs. Honestly hard to say if it's the sigma, but I feel great!
Eating too much protein might actually make you more sluggish and reduce your workout performance therefore killing your gains
I dunno. I always find BCAAs help with recovery if I'm doing a lot of cardio work but if I was strictly trying to build muscle I wouldn't bother.
What if I’m not getting the protein I need
I work out with my brother . He’s on trt I’m not on anything he’s definitely more cut and bigger than I am . Our diet and exercise are the same besides the TRT . He even recovers faster . I’m thinking about going on Trt
Are you done with long form content?
As far as BCAAs go, I think it's like a multivitamin; yeah, you should be getting everything you need from your baseline diet, but it doesn't hurt to have a little extra coverage.
