Hello. Can you tell me if the last syllable is pronounced hum as in "ham" [hamster] or hum as in "hoom" [the oo as in "look"]?
It's hum like in "fun".
It is like the later i.e. like the oo in look.
Is it true that saying this for the deceased will help them?
miraeja , In my experience it is very beneficial to chant this mantra for one that is passing away or has passed away
So we say in Japan, too, and at the same time chanting this also helps you first and evidently helps your deceased loved ones.
