I know everybody gets upset with Kosem, It just seems that all the problems come most of the Sherazades .Here he is telling his mother that he's not one of us and throwing in how Osmon was on the throne. You can here the bitterness in his voice. As hard as she tried she could get the idea of the oldest ruling and the rest supporting the Sultan and becoming warriors and advisors like in the west. There really had just been too many years of paranoia in the empire. They keep making the problems and she can't fix them all. I feel she lost a piece of her heart with every love one that died.
I don't think she was also in it for the power. People always point out the fact that she had Ibriham killed. I decided to read up on his reign They didn't put 2⁄3 of the crazy he did in this show. Here's just two extras. 1 You know his sable addiction, well this extended to the entire palace Including having the palace cat shaved and having little sable capes put on them. 2 There was a rumor, which was believed to actually only be in his head that a concubine sleep with someone she shouldn't have. No facts , nobody knew anything about it, it was thoroughly investigated and nobody could find anything that had happened. He still believe the voice in his head . So since he didn't have the person who did it he decided to use his logic which was way off, and have all two hundred concubines killed. This is the point in which people started thinking he needed to be taken off the throne. This was about the time that they started believing they had to take him off the throne. Cause it wasn't the 1st time e had someone killed because of something he believed but couldn't be proven proven of any of his counselors. The big end problem came when he was going to make a pilgrimage but that was just a cover for him to go to another Kingdom and get an army. He was going to then return to Istanbul and overtake the Sultan's guards and put his new army in their place that will only be loyal to him in with head magic. This got found out and they realized he had gone totally off the edge. He had no problem If regular people in Istanbul died in the melee he didn't care and they knew this would totally end in a revolt . She reluctantly went along with the okay to the execution because he just kept getting worse. He was just gonna keep killing people. She kept trying to come to some compromise or figure way out the problem but he just kept getting worse and was also talking about his own people turning against him. He basically just went too insane in the boxwoods and there was no way to bring him back once he was Sultan and had all that power. She was in a catch 22.
