When people say Gohan has no character I scream internally.
Thierno Doucoure who says that.... he's like the only character in dragon ball now with a character arc that isn't over yet. Vegeta's ended at the buu arc. And then ended again in the universe survival arc
I love how it’s not talked about more nowadays... The story was supposed to continue on with his son becoming the next protagonist but we all loved Goku so much they would not be able to go about the show in the direction they were going to take it
IF ANYOME THOSE THAT ILL THROW THEM IN A TRASH CAN THE SHOT AT THEM TILL THERE DEAD
"He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy"
Piccolo...wait...wrong series
Akuu de Grace Funny, that’s the same thing I was thinking as I watch the video
Piccalo is a much better father when you think about it, or at least once he actually started caring about gohan.
Although krillin probably is best father since he hasn't made his kid fight
PrimeCheese 1 well that goes workout saying, but for gohan. Piccalo is seriously the better parent
+PrimeCheese 1 too true dude, gohan just wanted to live a normal life tbh
It's part of this inner conflict in Gohan that I've always wanted to see an evil version of him. Just imagine a Gohan with all his potential power with the ambitious drive of a scholorly villain wouldn't Gohan as a villain be amazing?
@@TechnicSky or evil Gohan could be from an alternate timeline where radits successfully kidnaps him and he could be the final villain in dragon Ball
Tbh i was worried about this video since a ton of YTers misinterpret Dragonball or just make purely inaccurate videos but this was purely spot on. I think even some actual Gohan fans could learn from this video
Piccolo is only four years older than Gohan
Yeah but he has all of his fathers memories he's basically a respawn of his father.
That was quite solid actually. It even brought back my respect for Gohan immensely. I truly love his character, but as you said, he lacked balance around the Buu saga which pushed him out of the spotlight for his father. That upset me a lot, but with him coming back in Super for the tournament, it shows he's accepting both parts of what he is. True definition of balance right there. Good video.
This was SOOOOO DAMN GOOD! I enjoyed every bit of this video. Great work
JaxBlade you're like the most active TH-camr I've ever seen. Love your videos
If only Goten had half as much character development
Sjono Goten was a throw away character..he was made to fill in the abscense of Goku..but then Toriyama decided to bring Goku back. So Gotens development pretty much stopped there..since hes not supposed to be a clone of Goku at the end of Z, He was given a typical lazy unmotivated teen personality, being forced to train and fight tieing in the fact that all half saiyans dont have the same drive for battle(as evident with older Trunks and Gohan as well) Whats werid is that his personality at the end of Z doesnt really fit with the one he has as a kid. Feels like a totally different character.
I still watch DB Super (fanboy for life), but the Cell arc felt like the last time the Dragon Ball story used any kind of foreshadowing or plots based on character growth. Gohan's hidden power was shown since his first appearance, and it also made his Super Sayain ascension make more sense, than after Cell where they're constantly just having sudden deus ex machina transformations.
It seemed more like he personally surpassed the Super Sayain form bc of his potential, not that Super Sayain 2 was just a thing all Sayains could do. And it wasn't just something he did bc he got angry, but because it was the culmination of everything that lead up to that point and his character's experiences and desires.
Since then it basically became the Goku and Vegeta show and the concept of Super Sayain and new forms has lost all meaning. Anyone can do it, it's really easy, and there's always some arbitrary new form to grow to next.
GOHAN BLANCO nah, they still need to bring out "super sayain ultra special exteme slightly off white with a little bit of an orange tint god" that apparently was prophesied billions of years ago and was totally in the lore before just no one bothered to mention it
Crazelord91 I agree about it being the Goku and Vegeta show. It's like all the other Z fighters became irrelevant.
I like super, don't get me wrong, but one of my biggest issues with the show is how Gohan is written. He learns the lesson of balance when he is first beaten by Buu. In the next time skip it's very hard to believe he wouldn't at least maintain his ultimate gohan strength, especially with Goku alive again and willing to spar with him. Instead his power has dropped so much that he struggles to go super saiyan...what? Super has again taught Gohan that lesson and it has been good to see, but looking at the series as a whole it just doesnt make any sense for his character that he had to learn it again. He's supposed to be smart.
It makes zero sense. 7 years go by, and gohan is just a little weaker than when he fought cell and he is able to go ssj 2. Meanwhile a 2 years go by in super, and he struggles to become to ssj
I hate the initial development of this as well. And I appreciate that they didn't keep it for very long. And once he did get his power back, he was actually useful in the tournament. I appreciate his worth in the arc, despite the dumb way they started it
#MakeGohanGreatAgain
He IS supposed to be a legendary super saiyan... BUT wished to be pacifist
It's been awhile since we've asked this but who would you like to see on the next SYNK? Let us know and maybe we'll do it!
Treesicle your should try fairy tale this would be a good one if you do it about Lucy
Gohans original voice is much better than his kai voice
Lance L in my opinion kai isnt as good because its less violent and takes out a lot of the blood
I heard that My Hero Academia song for like 10 seconds XD nice one
I highly doubt the guys at TREESICLE will see this but THIS IS THE TYPE OF VIDEOS I'VE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS!!
One of the best moments of DBZ has to be when Gohan goes berserk after Cell stomps on Android 16, am I right?
totally right!! I literally watch that scene when I go to the gym to keep myself hype!
"One of"?? To me, the few minutes around that transformation are the absolute pinnacle of DBZ! :)
He's still not getting in my top 3 on FighterZ.
he should. base goku's 3 bar is a nuke to any health bar if you lay the carpet so it actually happens. ssj Goku is a wild card, he can be fitted in any team and he can be the anchor, and do that job very well. ssb goku sucks. i respect that
@@thechanger596 which is hilarious cuz SSB Vegeta is really good LOL I find that quite hilarious. SSB Vegito CAN be good but you gotta really know how to use him. Same with Gogeta
Gohans my favorite character always been
Gohan was supposed to be main character but goku fanboys did not want that
Oliwier Dziaczyszyn no Toriyama did not want that because he didn't think a pacifist character is suitable to be a Main character for a action series
thats not true Hogan wa swasted yes however that was toriyamas own choice
Really great video explaining Gohan's character
I want to thank you for making this video. As someone who has been going back over DBZ lately, I found myself as a 32 year old connecting more with Gohans conflicts and sense of humanity in the face of RIDICULOUS odds. Your take on him being an expression of a Buddhist ideal resonated with me a great deal as I have been considering going into the religion more seriously as of late. Things people make hit others in ways they can’t imagine, so know you did it here.
Now that I've finished the video I love it even more. Great work. Describes some things I've thought exactly and lays out all of the thoughts and concepts smoothly. Subbed and liked. "Story you never knew" is definitely original so I can roll with it, just throws me off since I clicked on it thinking you would tell me something I really didn't know... Turns out a db fan knows all of this and you just expressed it in a way that is appealing to us and the vast others on TH-cam. Thanks. I'll be watching
Whooo(this is why i love gohan)
Bro this story your never knew was beautifully done! 10/10
You had me at gohan!!!! Like
So we just gonna ignore how sadistic gohan gets when he gets a new power up?
I think that’s a trait of all saiyans when they transform. Once they get used to it they regain control of their mind. This was mentioned when Goku fought Frieza on namek. His pure and gentle heart was in conflict with the pure hatred and unbridled rage of the super Saiyan transformation. He had never experienced it before. It was said he couldn’t use the spirit bomb or the nimbus while in this form.
Been waiting for this👏👌
Three things that could have made this video even more epic:
1) Mentioning Gohan in the Tournament of Power where he fights Obuni, but is in extreme despair on his erasure as he wishes he didn't "have" to fight him.
2) Jordan B Peterson's lecture on "being cruel" and "being principled" at the same time, which describes exactly this.
3) That Gohan-centric episode in Super, where Videl says, "To his daughter Pan, her father Gohan is a hero that will NEVER lose", perhaps signifying not only what Gohan means to his daughter but also the hope of Good always triumphing, etc.
Finally, its about time. Been waiting for this since the Goku episode
i seriously watch this all the time. thank you.
Best db channel, this was awesome!
This is gonna sound silly, but I started crying twice during this episode.
Gohan has always been my favourite DB character from when I first watched him in the Cell Games saga on VCD as a kid, and this video perfectly encapsulates why that is. I'm no tough guy, and I sure as hell haven't done anything with my life, I think, but for whatever reason this episode resonated with me, I'm thankful it did. I feel better now.
awesome video! Gohan has been my fav but now i love him more
I'm glad you did this. Gohan's always been my favorite.
this was great, as are the rest, thank you
This channel deserve more credit than it actually get
YES!! MY FAVORITE CHARACTER! 💯🔥👌
This was amazing
Great video! I love Gohan!!!
Gohan has been one of my favorite charecters, but now I love him more after watching your video.
Gohan is awesome good job man
Excellent and great content man. Subbing and liking.
T..this is beautiful.
Ohmygawd, that derpy Goku face is _the best!_
Dude. This was enlightening
Wow I enjoyed this very much so
Beautiful video
Touching.
Best video to date
great video
Great video! I never gave up on gohan.
I hold myself from this chapter so long in thought it would be bad but it great so good very well guys
Amazing
So, am I absolutely in love with your videos! This was insightful and gave me some things to think about that I'd never considered (while still being incredibly entertaining).
However, I was surprised by something. In the beginning you mentioned that Gohan knows that power corrupts and that it never happens to him. But it DID!
In the Cell Saga, once everyone realizes that Gohan has the power to defeat Cell, they also realizes that Gohan is intentionally holding back and not killing him. When Piccolo and Goku ask him about, Gohan simply smirks and tells them that he's not killing Cell because "he deserves to suffer more", and even when Goku screams at him to just end it, Gohan still doesn't listen, more content with torturing Cell than just getting rid of him. This prompts Cell to get desperate and attempt to blow up the planet, which in turn prompts Goku to sacrifice himself in order to protect the planet.
In short, Gohan's over confidence in his own power caused his father's death.
This coupled with everything else you went over could explain why Gohan chose to stop fighting, immediately after; he believed his power was dangerous and could corrupt him and destroy lives and he was RIGHT. But, like you mentioned, he does eventually learn that he needs balance between the two.
So, that's it. :P
I honestly love your DBZ videos and hope that you make more in the future! Thanks!
Gohan is a kid who was forced into something no even asked him if he wanted to be apart of. He was always doing what he believed to be the best course of action. He got kidnapped so many times and is still the sweetie pie we all know and love.and let's not forget Gohan grew up without a daddy most of his life he's got huge daddy issues and when he's dad is there he acts like he cares and when goku leaves again he's quick to not care Piccalo is really the only father figure Gohan has. He gets mad and only when someone is hurt or dying hes scared of himself and what he's powers can do.
Definitely my favourite Dragon Ball related story you never knew
11:45 When Tagoma slams Gohan so hard the earth explodes lol
The gohan story really intreasted me it makes me learn more about him
Omg yesssss more dragon ball
Putting them in shows was a great call
This episode was good. Like, REALLY good. Maybe cause it got really deep or heavy, Idk. But I loved it!
Damn, dude. Didn't expect this to get so deep. 👏
love the insights on Gohan nobody gives him enough credit
Awww hell yeah!!! Gohan on the house!
God I love your video. Could you do lucario or piccolo the story you never knew
I don't like a lot of stuff I don't. But your video was well done and very informative A- can't wait to see more
3:00 Love the Dark Souls reference ;)
Ya know, as much as i want Vegeta to have the spotlight and become the strongest in the Tournament of Power, i kinda want Gohan to be the victor. He is said to have the highest potential and just seeing him come out on top and then wish back all the Universes' but unite them or something would be awesome.
"however power corrupts, once they realise they can do anything they want with this power..." This explains evrything about goku in Dragon Ball Super. He got a lot of power and he wants to fight so he'll use that power (being it using zen-oh or his actual power) to get his wish, universe survival arc will show you evrything about this change.
Yeah but I knew it already...he is my favorite character in DBZ! Thanks though and keep it up!
10/10
Yeaaaa
Ahhh so Tree my boi! I see you've been watching the monkey king movies! Glad to see i'm not the only fan of chinese action cinema!
It's also worth mentioning that he turns into a total sadist when he let's out his full power against Cell. Kind of a first hand demonstration of why he was so scared and reluctant.
Fantastic episode. Might be better than the Trained Red video.
I love Mystic Gohan's theme aaaaaa
Yay finally someone who understands Gohan
oh that's neat
Aw I love that Morrissey reference...
YESSSSSSS
14:59 reminds me of when aang and zuko were learning fire bending.
“Don’t miss the message you missed,or you’ll miss the message” -grant 2018
This line killed me for some reason
Damn that was deep...
Gohan is probably the most relatable character in dragon ball z and super
Says most extraordinary
Shows yamcha
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Dragonball intro stays the best opening in anime xD
I like Gohan a lot. Certainly when fighting Cell. He's HOT, really Rule34 work xD
Interesting video xD
I like the theory that says gohan has ptsd specifically from the Ginyu force and that's why he did all the poses as great saiyaman. don't know who came up with it but it makes perfect sense. deep seated emotional trauma manifesting.
That was deep
Finally Gohan
Gohan squad, where u at?
I'll...Grant you this...good stuff.. peAce : )( :
Gohan's greatest weakness is learning how to DODGE.
Cam Cirby XD tfs for life
fnafguy fnaffan Thank goodness you got that reference! (Along with many other beloved fans)
Cam Cirby lmao fr!!! Doe
I love abridged. DODGE!!!
Cam Cirby XD
