Why are Le Sserafim so effortlessly funny? Because they naturally fit the comedic archetypes of one of the greatest comedy teams of all time, the Marx Brothers. Yunjin is Groucho, who warps reality to fit her particular vision, redefining the world through mostly wordplay but also by reinterpreting her environment to fit her vision. ‘’I wanna change the idol industry’’ and she’s doing it through humor. Chaewon is Chico, who deflates Groucho\Yunjin through brutal hyper-literalism, underlining the absurdity of reality by reducing it to its utmost barrenness. Kazuha is Chico, who simply creates their own world, completely detached from reality. Sakura is ‘’the fourth Marx Brother’’ (a postion that was filled by many actors), the straight man, the calming presence within the storm. And Eunchae becomes a pinch-hitter, taking on instinctively the role that is needed, but mostly being a second Chico\Chaewon, reinforcing the brutal reality that is challenged by the world-building of Yunjin and Kazuha. And that is why I’m convinced Le Sserafim are not idols, but rather the world’s best improv troupe masquerading as a K-Pop girl group
