Took more than 2 years but got it finally. This gonna be my first solo cover. Thank you Danny 🙏. Consistent practice is the key ... don't ever give up @folks
This guy is the best. His translations are perfect and he is a phenomenal player. Plus seems like a great guy. I can now play UFO's Rock Bottom solo because of this guy.
Broken up into almost digestible chunks, this marvelous instruction of Joe’s achingly beautiful song, Always....leaves me more hopeful, than ever, that I might master a cover some day, as a upper intermediate-level player. But the higher skill is to write music this good....THAT, I can’t even imagine doing.
Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm a relatively new player and the tapping section was killing me. You're the only person who explained this in a way that I finally get it!
Well. After 6 weeks. Countless forwards and backwards, some tears some joy I feel our time is at end. There is no more you can teach me. It is now up to further practise and prayers to the God of Flying Fingers. May the Madness forever continue Good Sir...we are done.
Really enjoyed this lesson...I always wanted to learn this song (and have been working on it some) but this is the dissecting I needed to bring it home. Thanks!
Hey! Greetings from "Down Under"... How are you going with this one man? I've got all the licks down now (after a couple of years) - still got a lot of polish to put on it though... LOL! Cheers! 🍻👍
@@gregfredericks351 Hi Greg! I am embarrassed to say this, but I haven't followed through with it enough to learn the whole song. But I am very glad to hear that you have learned it! You should put the "polish" on it as you indicated and post it on TH-cam. I promise to give it a "like" if you do post it. I've just been busy writing originals as of late. I want to see where it might take me. lol! Good day!!
I learned this song back in 91. I had forgotten some the the licks, so I came here to relearn them. Excellent video! The transcription has a little difference than what was published by Guitar for the practicing musician. Just a couple places! Same notes just played on different strings! All together an great explanation video! 🤟🏼 Jam on
I used to play this song years and years ago and I came to this video as a refresher since I've forgotten a lot of the quick legato sections. This guy is an awesome teacher but it drives me mad when he stops every phrase before it resolves back to the root. My music theory brain is twitching lol
You are awesome, your excellent articulation and knowledge enabled me to learn this and I really appreciate it. Really an amazing teacher, Thanks so much.
you are awsome, want a great teacher you are {as well as a great guitarist}this song means a lot to me.just lost my father and this song is my song to him.im not as good as you and joe but your easy steps broken down i believe i can get it close thanks for teaching the world to enjoy the playing music
Thank you so much... Picked up my guitar after nearly 15 years and your tutorial helps a lot... If you are still making this kind of videos can you please upload some
Awesome lesson man! I still have a LOT of polish to put on it, but the breakdowns of the licks helped me learn a song that I never ever hoped to play. Just like Victor though, took me a couple of years... :) THANK YOU a thousand times!! (incidentally, this was the first Satriani song I ever heard - from when Surfing was released in Aus - loved the man's work ever since.... Inspirational.)
Thanks a million, what a great quick way to get it through and what I like the most is .....(NEXT PHRASE !!) really quick and without all the mambo jumbo" ... Great job.!!
Years I spent trying to figure this song out by ear .. then I had put the guitar down for several years (life) but have picked it up again (should have never put it down) . Most of the parts I had down , but that section (13:30 video) always tripped me up even though it seems like it's easy. Getting it to sound fluid is tough. But I'm getting better every day :D Thanks for this, because I love this song.
seriously one of the best easy to follow lessons I've come across ! who is this teacher in the video and does he have more lessons ?made learning this a piece of cake.
The teacher is Danny Gill who was a student of Joe Satriani. Danny does tutorial work for "Lick Library". The following DVD's have 5 tracks by the featured artist and Danny is the tutor. The name of the DVD series is called "Learn to play(name of artist). Whitesnake,Eagles,Guns 'N' Rose's-Volumes 1-3,Iron Maiden(Volumev2).Green Day, Judas Priest,Jimmy Hendrix-Volumes 1 &2. The Foo Fighters. AC/DC-Volumes 2 & 3.
Thank you Sir, I really appreciate your lesson, I am constantly practicing, I know I will play this song. Thank you once again for making it possible for me to learn the solo.🙏
the tapping secion in this song has always amazed me. you're not even playing it up to speed and so in some ways it loses it's musicality. but when played at full speed the tapping section alone is mesmerizing. if I only learned the tapping section and got it up to speed, i would be happy, because I gurantess you, that alone would capture someones attenion.
Great instruction!!! Subscribed 3 minutes in! I'll continue to seek this instructor and hope that all lessons could be as well done as this one Thank you
the instructure name is danny gill and he was a student of joe satriani...i always feel like he is the best teacher for in all youtube videos...great person great teacher..
I'm trying this on an acoustic guitar, to make my fingers more strong, by the time I reach the tapping section, my guitar is untunned. Actually, I'm a beginner.., so to get the speed... of each section I've to practice it for a week or two. Anyway, great job and tutorial. Absolutely fantastic.
Fantastic lesson! When I listen closely to the original though, I am fairly sure that the high C# at 15:50 is in fact played as a pinch harmonic at the 6th fret on the G string, especially since Satch is known for consciously choosing his notes when pinching. Edit: Just watched the music video, you can see he is doing it that way
Great lesson. It's definitely the best one I've seen. if its not exact, it's close enough. Joe plays it slightly different every time anyways. Changes little licks and stuff. Awesome though.
The first chord is pretty tough! BUT you can play the exact same notes lower on the neck which is way easier and gives a more similar shape as the E and Fsus chord :) But Joe plays it mid neck like you show here! I try to but it's way easier to cheat and play that on the lower fret side 😀
Really appreciste for the superb lesson.... And for the tapping part ..I think 1) should be start with left hand tap at b string 11 flet 1st 2) the 2nd section of last tapping on 2nd flet should b 4 times 3) the 3rd section of last tapping on 5th flet should b 4 times Humble opinion
Awesome Sir. Nice tutorial. It will be easy for me to learn now. Thanks. Also I share the same hairstyle as yours. But it will take me a long time to learn your guitar skills. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you for your patience in teaching us this legendary tune from satch..... If only you had worn some shades, that would be very reminiscent of satch hehe... Thanks again...
that's what I thought, I play it finger style and not all the chords at the same place, so I let it ring too, it may sound beautiful but I'd like to learn how to properly mute the higher strings with the pick technique to play the song as we can hear it on the album
I'm fairly new to playing and can not get the correct sound out of my amp. Does anyone have any settings suggestions for this song? Great teacher, lovin' it.
For the rhythm part- reverb, balanced eq, bridge pickup, play near your neck pickup For the lead part - high treble, reverb, decent gain, neck pickup, pick in the middle
Took more than 2 years but got it finally. This gonna be my first solo cover. Thank you Danny 🙏.

Did you post it already?

You picked a fantastic solo for your first and actually I am just starting this myself lol

Nothing like a soothing bald guy to caress you through the learning process.
Why did this make me laugh so much?
Frost Shadow ...lol ...it's actually true. He's a great teacher. I have all his stuff. That first chord though ....SHEEEEIT
Rebel Coolidge you can play a simpler shape though
lol
Lmao

Never played guitar in my life. Watched this last night and am already playing it in memory with minimal error Gotta give you props
Sir, thank you so much for all your hard work, for sharing your knowledge and wisdom. It’s all greatly appreciated!
Teaching technique is very nice. Nobody demonstrate elaborately. You are great. Thanking you.

There is an excellent backing track available to this once you have learned it on you tube as well. if anyone isn"t aware.

The guitar teacher i wish i had when i started out. Big thanks for the breakdown!!
You have tought very clearly and smoothly ..and with phrase I like so much
Alot of nuance in this one Excellent teaching and playing skill here. Damn! Wish I had you back in 80's-90's instead of bad tablature 😂
Great Lesson! I already knew the song, I just wanted to hear that Screaming, Resonant Beast Guitar again.
Thank you Sir, I really appreciate your lesson, I am constantly practicing, I know I will play this song. Thank you once again for making it possible for me to learn the solo.🙏

I struggled with that as well but you are correct as it clearly shows Joe playing that on the music video.
also in the tapping section there is a single 11 before the 7 and 9 on the first pass...and of course the 2 11'son the subsuquent passes..
bach5150 I noticed that as well! Good eye 👁
You are a great guitar tutor. Come up with more songs please. And thnk you so much for this

Agree!

Well taught as always, but the intro chords are muted, not ringing out as they are here
Nugs that is such bullshit play it however you want
