    History will show that Mellencamp was the greatest American singer-songwriter of his time. Sorry Bob, sorry Bruce; you are great too, but John captured the truths of his time and beyond the best.

    I've been with John M. since 1982. He's my age and I am his comrade in arms.........such talent...he's talking about himself, and his rage....and he's talkin' 'bout me too......he must have 100's of songs.............he had a tough time in life....me too...John: I relate. Don't worry bro', we love your work. Peace, joy and health, John!! We're alive, eh??????????????????????????....................................(P.S. The live version of "Check It Out" is even better here than on his recorded "Lonesome Jubilee" LP. Why? It's not so harsh sounding here.... a bit gentler..........maybe I like it here because, like John, I'm maybe 34 years older now compared to when the LP came out!)

    We've all had our favourite Mellencamp albums over the years, stand out's like Scarecrow,The Lonesome Jubilee,American Fool,Big Daddy,Cuttin'Heads,Whenever we Wanted,No better than this, the list of classics is endless, but just when you think you've heard John at his best musical & lyrical wise,he comes up with 'Plain Spoken',never, ever doubt the master,it's another classic!

    I am swiss. Back in 1987 I stayed on Long Island for one year. There I heard his Lonesome Jubilee LP for the first time. Lucky me went to see him in concert at Nassau Coliseum. I will never forget that fantastic show! 30 years later I still love this brilliant man! Thank you for your beautiful music John! 💝💝💝💝

    Saw him in concert when he did the scarecrow tour in Pensacola Florida. Will never forget it. He is one in a million and no one like him. The new album is incredible.

    I have heard John sing over the radio or my computer my whole life or at least since I was a teen and I saw that he was coming to Rochester, so I thought let me see what one of his shows is like. I took my wife and son to the show at West Herr auditorium and it turned out to be my favorite performance. I can't wait to see him again, I really can't.

    Plain Spoken is the 22nd studio album by American singer-songwriter and musician John Mellencamp. It was released on September 23, 2014 by Republic Records.[7] Plain Spoken marks the first project of Mellencamp's new lifetime recording contract with Republic Records. The album's cover photo was taken by actress Meg Ryan, Mellencamp's girlfriend at the time.

    Being born and raised in Indiana with roots deep in Jackson Co. I have listened to Mr. Mellencamp and the words he sings and they strike a close cord. I loved listening to his explanations of his songs. I heard longest day story, and touched me. You know John has a big heart when he talks about his Grand mother, His songs are of family and life.. It's hard to shake the hoosier.. peace & blessings to your heart

    I really think Plain Spoken may be one of Mellencamp 's best albums. So reflective & transparent. So honest & naked. The engineering & mixing on this live performance is incredible. Nothing short of stellar. I love how rough & worn his voice has become. I've been praying for Mellencamp for 42 years now. It's so clear that the Lord has His hand on him. I used to play music with some of his fellow musicians here in Bloomington, In. I think Plain Spoken will stand the test of time. Also Pink House's & Small Town.

Of course love his old songs..and his humor, like Small Towns..."brought a few girls to the small town"...did they leave b/c of the small town or me (him)!! Storytelling at it's best!! Thank you John for another great album!!

He’s #1 music I always put on!! John Mellencamp’s music goes much deeper for me! Longest Days, and Ride Back Home , I played at my husband’s funeral! Those songs are from the album, Love, Life, Death Freedom! They have special meaning to me! To you, John Mellencamp Thank you! You’re Grandmother isn’t the only woman who’s ever loved you! ❤❤❤❤

    This is such a wonderful concert! I enjoyed every moment of it! It was really touching to see John sing some of the music from the new album Plain Spoken too. I really loved hearing Minutes To Memories too. It is really wonderful to be able to see a concert like this from the place he recorded his music and albums. I loved hearing John talk about the songs and how he was inspired to write them throughout the years.

    I have always been a huge fan. I just watch his interview about when he met the doctor that saved him. John was born into the Nazarene Church and has rejected God since he was a kid. It seems that he is still struggling to find his way back to God but I believe that he will. The song Sometimes there's God is a good example of that.

    I saw John in concert in 92,94,97 and 2000..He got better each time I saw him! had the opportunity to meet his band and his then wife Elaine Irwin. His concerts are a blast..like one big sing along because the crowd sings along to every song! He is an exceptional artist and though I have moved on to managing Christian Extreme Heavy Metal;I still love to follow what John is doing! He always will be one of my all time favourite artists! This a great intimate live show and thank you much for posting it!

    The 10 songs on Plain Spoken tackle a wide variety of subject matter, with some songs taking on a personal tone, some dealing with society problems in the 21st century, and others serving as character sketches of down and out and troubled people.

    Love John Mellencamp, but his voice is starting to go a bit on the sour side these days. He was never known for having a great voice, but now it's sounds a bit like what's happened to Dylan's voice, unfortunately.

    • @RetroSoulGirl
      @RetroSoulGirl 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      MrCalidan69 Well nobody is perfect, and you probably don't have the guts to sing and perform in front of major crowds like he did. Obviously he has to be good because so many people loved his music. Not everybody has to have like, a PERFECT voice or anything, haha. His voice is unique and it brings a nice flavor to the music world. He's just a regular guy from a small town. He never had any voice training, he just kinda learned it on his own. Also, he is a very heavy smoker and he seems as his he won't stop that, so of course there is going to be a significant change in his voice. His range is much deeper now, but that's typical for anybody as they grow older. To be honest, he does not sound all that bad. I have seen him live and he has a very beautiful vibrato in his voice and me and a couple other gals think his voice sounds sexy when he gets real low and deep... hahaha. But to me, it sounds like he finally is getting the hang of music and I consider his new album one of his absolute best. Especially the lyrics. He's just wise now!

      Nothing remotely close to Dylan's horrible voice, John can sing with just a guitar and still sound great! Yes, he has the raspy gravely sound of a smoker but he still has pitch and tone .
