    Biden said in 2020 he was a "transitional president" and should have announced after the 2022 mid-terms he would not seek a second term. This would have spared Biden the humiliation of getting pushed out of his 2024 re-election bid and the country un-necessary drama. Better late than never I suppose.

      I tend to disagree with this. He showed very poor judgement and character by trying to run for president in his eighties. Trump is the same, but he also has other glaring character flaws that make running at his age and level of incompetence not one of his biggest faults.

      To your point - and of concern - yes, it is the best it seems the Democrats can come up with. But if the strategy is at best, "anybody but Trump", then if you are No on Trump, Harris is your only alternative. This whole affair is not a reassuring picture of the Democratic party leadership - yet we spend a lot of time slagging what the Republicans have degenerated into.

      I'm hopeful that she will be reinforced with a strong V.P. nominee. If you have time, I recommend that you watch the two potential candidates interviewed this morning on "Morning Joe" -- Andy Beshear and Roy Cooper. They both sounded like winning matches -- one from an area inhabited by people that J.D. Vance has called "lazy". The other from a red battleground state.

    Biden would’ve been OK for a 2nd term as an administrator of good political policy. As a communicator of that policy, he was clearly falling woefully short.
