  • OUR 1905 COTTAGE RESTORATION reality show is an ongoing series of episodes where Rob Kircher and his wife Barbara restore their recently purchased turn-of-the-century cottage. Originally constructed as a two-room cottage, it has had numerous additions over the years, mostly built by weekend warriors. And to make matters worse, it has been languishing for some time. As a result, Rob and Barbara deal with all sorts of plumbing, electrical, and insulation problems, along with numerous hidden issues yet to be discovered. It is their third house restoration and the one they love the most.
Episode 22 documents the beginning stages of the 2nd Floor restoration with the stairwell and tiled base steps. OUR 1905 COTTAGE RESTORATION was created and produced by Rob Kircher. Copyright 2002-2024, Rob Kircher. All rights reserved.
    Biography:
Rob and Barbara were high school sweethearts. They met on a blind date when they were 16 and 15, respectively. In November 1967, they married and moved to Queens, New York, where they rented a one-room apartment in Lefrak City. Barbara was the breadwinner and worked for Hertz's Vice President of Marketing at their corporate headquarters in Manhattan. At the same time, Rob attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts on the Washington Square Campus.
While at NYU, Rob worked weekends as a news gatherer for WCBS NewsRadio 88 in the Black Tower Corporate headquarters. After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, Rob stayed with CBS. He accepted a Sales Manager position at an affiliate television station, WHEC, in Rochester, New York, owned by Gannett. After remodeling a small saltbox home in the suburbs, Rob and Barbara moved to Pultneyville, New York, where they restored an 1842 East Lake home that was part of the Underground Railroad.
Ten years later, they formed Kircher & Associates, a full-service International Marketing firm and acquired many large clients, such as Hamilton Beach Appliances and Jolt Cola. They quickly outgrew their in-home offices and remodeled a 1930s-era two-story house in Webster, New York. Twenty years later, they sold the business, moved to Florida, and restored the 1986 pool home. During this time, Rob began producing television programming, and Barbara happily honed her cooking skills. They built a fully-equipped 16x16 outdoor kitchen in their extended lanai area, which became their recording stage for three successful cooking shows they produced.
In September 2022, they moved back to Upstate New York and purchased a 1905 cottage in the historic Forest Lawn Community. Once again, the urge to restore tucked at them. As a result, Rob and Barbara created the TH-cam Channel OUR 1905 COTTAGE RESTORATION and produced their first reality-style episode on October 19, 2022.
