    When I first saw that picture, I thought it was THE picture from "The Shining" 😮.......you know, I probably would never become a member of a Moose Lodge, but I sure as hell would join up to be a member of "The Loyal Order Of Miss Moose" haha😁...the way you do these videos is so entertaining and fun, especially your jibber jabber....you have greatness in you!....👏👏

      Now if I find someone that looks like Jack Nicholas in that picture, not sure if that would be a good or bad thing! Must watch that movie again soon!

    It's delightful to see your smile when you open packages. Love that photo from the Moose dinner. My mom still has a fur from the 50's. I could see her wearing her fur to an event like that. I tried it on when I was visiting her last weekend.
    There are a couple of New Jersey cards in the pile from me.
    The Shining - read the book. Soooo much better than the movie! Have a lovely day, Rene. I hope PAM had a good nap.

    Awesome and very thoughtful gifts, as always. Concerning the photographs, I just know that these folks came from Munich and spent their vacations 1942 in and around the Bavarian capital (I think you were absolutely right with the lions in front of the Feldherrnhalle) and in St. Anton, Austria. No names available so far, perhaps you might find some on the backsides of these photos. The "Letters from America" (1830s/1840s) were part of my personal collection. I was more interested in the philatelic aspects like postmarks, destinations etc., but they got also tons of "pioneer content", so I thought you deserve them more than I do. And perhaps they might also contain some interesting new aspects on early American history.
    Fun fact on your "Letters from Berlin": "Pummel" isn´t just a nick name but also some kind of slang for people with overweight: Pummel, Pummelchen or even pummelig (fat). Can´t wait for a P & M Special on "Carl´s Correspondence" where his parents "prohibited" his marriage with a certain girl. Until then, happy research, and see you on the next package from Germany which contains "Walter´s Correspondence". 😉Greets from GER, U.

      I’m going to have the photos in a video tomorrow 🙂 When in Munich, I’d get some tea (from my favorite apple strudel cafe!) and just sit on the stairs of Feldherrnhalle & people watch. I would think about all the people that had walked by in the past, or those that took “Shirker’s Alley” right behind, & the history that had happened in this one place. Can’t wait to read the letters, I’ll have a video on those as well! Thanks again for all of the treasures!

      @PaperandMoose  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Also looking up St. Anton... that's a whole history alone! I've tried to place some of the photographs to where they would be today, but it seems a bit difficult tracing some of the angles of the buildings (most likely from changes over time & construction).

    We're just like "peas & carrots" in our writing styles. Printing and cursive combo, but more print lately as can read, most of it, when I look back 🤔. I see old writings and can just be amazed at the beauty of it. Makes me jealous. Much lije digital pictures, I wouldn't expect many emails or text messages to survive the test of time. Thanks for continuing to share mail day 👍👍

      Correct on the emails & text messages, unless we print them out & put them in binders…. which I think most people won’t do. Surprise that Hallmark & cards still exist! But we know there are people out there, many that watch my videos, that still appreciate a card & paper!

    A fab mail day as always. Love all the prizes you got. Thinking about who survived the war is very sobering - I need really thought about it but clearly many Europeans must look at pre-1939 photos much differently than those of us in the US do. I love those old panoramic group photos and yard-longs. I wish they still made photos in those formats - but getting that many people together seems less frequent than it used to be - plus people can take their own panoramics now. Post cards and other older mail - I'm always amazed at how short some of the notes are - I think the pictures on the front meant more before TV, easier travel and certainly the internet (though I did write one when I was about 10 in the late '70s - from my family's annual vacation in ME (because my parents made me) - to a friend that said, "Dear Bill, I have nothing to say, Steve." Heard about that from Bill & his Mom when I got home :). I wrote so small in school that I can no longer read my college notes without magnification. Also used (and use) a combination of printing & cursive - it's faster when taking notes). Now my hand cramps when I write because I do it so seldom. And I absolutely think you should let those letters tug on your heart strings - I think that sort of empathy is one of your superpowers and makes for the very best social history (written, video, multimedia, other). Have great Tuesday! Rain here on and off for the foreseeable future - going up to 70 by Friday. I liked the cold of last weekend ('30s - not bad) but that never lasts here. Enjoy all these wonderful gifts!

    • @PaperandMoose
      @PaperandMoose  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Up to 70 by Friday?? That is what dreams are made of up here! We also are going to have a slight warm-up, but rain will come with it as well. Better than snow! Panoramic on phones are so odd when they are taken as they look good on the phone but then if one attempts to have it printed out, it comes out a mess (in my case at least). To think of all the notes that I wrote in college & after school... I wonder if I could write that much now! My one history class was nothing but notes. The professor had his notes from when he taught the same class in the 1970s & he would just stand in front of the class and read his notes. If you could somehow memorize all of the notes, then you would do great on the test! My friends and I rarely had A's in that class it was so hard. Remember everything about the Roman Empire? Sure! Haha :0)

    Dear Renée,
    If Carol's father survived the Holocaust, she must be of advanced age. I'm in the same age group, and every day is a greater gift. As one reaches this number of decades, you do not know which day will be the last.
    As for project management and advancement, we each have our own methods, but working piecemeal on several different matters leaves me scattered and overwhelmed. Just a word from someone who's been there: My experience is to focus on and complete one project at a time, and then move on to the next. In my professional life, management of data and research was handled by prioritizing each item and finalizing it. This required employees to apply their efforts to the most significant jobs first. On a side note, the success also bolsters the spirit and motivates future efforts.
    Please forgive me if I have overstepped boundaries. It's that I can see myself in Carol's place... I wish you great success and have only admiration for you. Have a blessed day, Respectfully Yours, CM

    • @PaperandMoose
      @PaperandMoose  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No overstepping boundaries at all! In this world of "content creating", it can be a bit overwhelming because I do have many projects and/or future projects and viewers like to see them all. So at times it feels like I have to juggle many projects at once so that I have something to present, which means only an hour for that project, 30 minutes working on that, etc. (This method also isn't good for my anxious mind at times!)
