[1] The bride will not attend the nikah ceremony in the masjid, her wali (guardian) such as the father etc. will represent her in the nikah ceremony. After the nikah the mahram of the bride shall bring her to the groom's house.
The function of Nikah is quite simple: to create a legal marriage in the eyes of both Allah and the government. The Nikah is a legally-binding agreement that the two will remain husband and wife. Seeking divorce and attempting to separate from one's spouse is much more challenging after the ceremony takes place.In the Hans Wehr Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic, nikah is defined as "marriage; marriage contract; matrimony, wedlock". (In some marriages in some predominantly Muslim cultures such as in Pakistani culture, there may be a delay between the nikkah and the actual enjoinment of the couple.
