It's a crime that this video has so few views. Should have millions of views. This should be required viewing for anyone who is or aspires to be a drummer. Ben is such a creative and talented player. It's a shame we live in a world where generic, cookie cutter pop stars with no souls churn out crap and get all of the fame and fortune while real bands/musicians like Earthside, who've dedicated their lives to producing quality music are forced into obscurity. So glad I found Earthside on youtube. Gives me hope that there's still people out there making epic music despite the corrupt record industry working against them.
Best album i've heard in years and hes definitely one of the most creative drummers out there who has inspired me! Big respect Ben, keep smashing that kit 👌
I didn't really know where else to write this, but I just wanted to recognize Ben for his creativity with the arrangement of drums on this album. It's so different from what I usually hear, and yet it still manages to fit perfectly (as far as I can discern) to the music. Notes missing from where they'd usually be, and placed where you wouldn't expect them. Snare hits on upbeats or downbeats wherever. The cymbals paint a nice landscape. It's just so unique, and expands thinking on how to compose drums for a song.

This is my favorite song from your album, the instrumentation and vocals in this song are perfect, this song goes to so many places, total trip! I love your drum parts particularly in this song, grooves so hard and is so beautiful at the same time. What can I say more? You're PERFECT! I can't imagine how your next songs will sound like :o CHEERS FROM PORTUGAL
Great work Ben, I Really enjoyed this video. It is way amazing and inspiring. Do you mind posting drum playthroughs for all of the other Earthside (current and future) songs? Thanks in advance ;)
+Rogier d'Ancona Lower center of gravity, duh :P This playthrough was a little bit of an experiment using the AXIS XL2. I usually use my trusty Pearl Eliminator, as seen in the other playthrough (you can see the beater guard is higher up and the pedals in the other video do meet it). I found that l liked the feel of it more with the beaters down lower, but I'm always fiddling with different specs. Maybe for the next video I'll be hitting the top of the kick :)
The speed of going supersonic is higher at lower altitudes, so lowering the double-beaters means he experiences less impediments inhibited from the natural forces of the universe.
Ben not plays drums: he dances with his drumsticks, his ankles and toes. Marvelous!!

This album needs way more recognition. What a phenomenal prog debut. I hope that yall put together a fitting sequel.
Nice playing btw.

Could you please upload the drum playthrough of Skyline. That song is the clímax of the album and I just can't get enough of it.
Same request. I came to TH-cam looking for that, and found this video instead. Still extremely impressive, but I’d love to see Skyline.

Dear Ben,
Why are your kick-beaters so low down?

I have that same thing. The moment of inertia is also lower so it takes less effort to get them to rotate and they bounce a bit less.
Bad. Ass.
Sounds like Stewie Griffin singing
