This series is going so good. Earlier I wasn't excited for this but when I saw the dev blogs of this, it made me excited to watch this series. Your every video has inspired me to become a better scratcher. I have also made some improvements to your existing series like adding a automatic level creation for your tile scrolling platformer. Anyways I am dead excited for Episode 6.

I've started making an RPG from scratch in C and I think this series is actually going to be quite helpful to me soon! Who would've thought that a Scratch tutorial series I started on a whim would be useful for a project using one of the lowest-level languages! I even ended up finding the same tileset by pure coincidence. I got spritesheets from .bmp files working and now an animation system, so next up is probably a tilemap system based on this one.

For the layers in the upcoming episode(s), I have a feeling that we'll eventually have to be forced to pen stamp the player sprite in the script in order to maintain the other background elements that we are already stamping on the map. As we all know, all pen elements are always placed on the background, never on the foreground. So the only option would be to stamp the player so that the player object would appear below other layers that we placed on the map. Otherwise, the other option would be that the higher layers would have to be clone based objects for it to work on top of the player sprite. Anyways, great work as usual! Loving the series. :D

I've just noticed that if you combine the top 4 parts of the small tree and the second to last from the bottom of the big tree, you get a tree with a smiley face.
I've recently had a Eurika when it comes to making large RPG games on Scratch. In RPGs you have lots of different costumes, and lots of different categories for those costumes, you've got blocks, items, and entities, and sorting all of them into one sprite can be a grueling process. If you add a block then you'll have to change the way the program finds the costumes for entities, and items as well. The way this works is to do with how the costumes themselves work, if you find the block that in the programming is regarded as the first block, then you can have the program use that block to find all the other blocks relatively. This cuts down on the amount of time needed to program an RPG significantly.

I think it’ll be cool if you added (npc’s) aka guards so that you can’t get into locked areas ,also griffpatch I love your videos so do what you like doing and scratch on :D
