Neil, thank you so much for doing this. I have learned a lot in the past 8 days and I will binge watch a few shows to get caught up. You are amazing and I pray that you will be blessed tremendously for all your hard work and commitment to helping other small businesses.
Such a great video! I'm binging day by day :) Thank you for the content!! I feel like I have so many questions. But I am going to do my research to see if the agencies that buy what I sell, if they have a strategy outlined for the work I do (leadership development, professional development, etc).
Definitely a Gold Mine. This type of research activity reminds me of 10-Ks and 10-Qs for publicly traded companies on investment efforts. Thank you sir for this video sir.
Yes, absolutely like the 10-Ks. I use those all the time when looking at large prime contractors. And I haven't yet got to showing the budget documents, but those could be really helpful as well.
If I used the term 'secrets' on any of my stuff, not process... this would be one of the biggest. The government tells us exactly what they're looking for in these docs.
You mentioned in the video time 18:03 explaining OBJ 1-2 Increase small Business Opportunity in all categories and say " What they mean by that, the Hubzone, woman owned etc." or Socioeconomic Programs. As you may know President Trump signed an Executive order on 1/20/25 that terminates diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs within the federal government, aiming to return to merit-based treatment. Do you know of changes that are coming to these programs and how does the recent executive order impact the DoD's current small business program strategies, particularly those that previously incorporated DEI principles? Thanks for all you do.
There was a court case about eliminating the 8(a) program that, ironically, got rejected by a judge this week. I don't pay attention to any of the small business certs, which are separate from the DEI and merit base you're referencing (that for government employees). I focus on how to build a small business without any of the tags. If tags can happen later, but that's a bonus. I have done three trainings already on what to expect with the new Trump administration. You can find them here.
I want to answer, but need more information in this question. But I'll try... The government buys three types of things: Construction, Manufacturing and Services. RFQs are generally used for services or products that are really well defined. For example, when NancyCo sells LinkedIn services, I'll set it up as a line item on a purchase order. No proposals, just a quote. If you're asking how to get them thinking about buying a service, you start by getting buyers to fully recognize they have a problem you can solve. Tell me more about what you mean on monetizing your service.
You mean price what I want NancyCo to sell? To be candid, because I'm experienced and aggressive, I'll price it to maximize profit from my services. And I'll sell it by deliverable not hourly rates. To answer your question directly (which I'll do in future episodes) I'll just think about the most I'd pay someone to do the work I'll offer and then double it. :) There will a lot of folks who are judgmental on this, but the idea is to charge a price that maximizes my profits while delivering the most value I can to the customer. Everyone will win.

70's, Star Wars, wow, that was a long time ago.
Hey! Quick judging. :) Good to see you in here, Russ.
Neil how do you get purchasing to buy a service not rfq and how do you monetize your service?
I want to answer, but need more information in this question. But I'll try...

@neilmcdonnell How do you price your service?

I'm still watching. I recently had someone threatening to trade Mark my company in name is that part of your startup advise?
