      Im so sorry, I put my first one out about that time but I hadn't done any faceting at thst point. I also had thst experience with the vevor pneumatic engraving machine, which is why I put a video out about it when I got it and keep putting them out. So many pros say "those cheap tools don't work, you can't learn on it." Gatekeeping

    The base of the shaft is uneven. some have loose protractors and should have the screws replaced. Your lap discs are not sintered they are toppers. Different type of disc. Try looking for something called the cut kit. It takes care of some of your issues and a few others as well.

    You should try out the D-lite polishing laps i feel they work way better than the copper laps

      Oh, that's a good tip thank you. Part of the issue is those disks cost nearly ¼ of what the entire machine cost, I'm running really low budget, but I think this could be helpful if I can ever get the $ for it

      @Celestial_Reach yea i know im running the same machine but ive modded it a bit to makenit better but its still not comparable to one of the expensive machines but believe me the better laps make an unbelievable difference especially if you're still using the chinese topper laps.

    Hi there.. would you consider a version 2 diy machine using what you’ve learnt from an off the shelf example?

    • @Celestial_Reach
      @Celestial_Reach  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, but it's complicated. That took me a full week. The last year has been very rough economically and I'll need to have some stability. That said if the channel manages to grow and become more of a help economically, which it already has been abit, I can see it happening. I just need abit of stability for that type of project. But I'd love to.

    Would a cheaper machine like this be fine for making up to 20 sided dice out of gemstones and Stone? And do you know if it comes with the correct index wheel for making a 20 sided dice? I am new to this and looking to get into this hobby and someone online mentioned you need a certain kind index wheel for a icosahedron ?

      Honestly, I wouldnt count on this faceting machine for making a d20. its actually on my too do list as well, but this machine and cheaper set up really struggles to get larger planes to polish properly. it might be a way to start, and perhaps you could get it to work with enough dedication and time, and some investment too, but i wouldnt bet on it. and normally im all for vevor tools, but this one still has some bugs to work out

    Sure you could cut a sapphire on this machine. Lots of sapphires are cut on jampeg machines that are probably not as nice as this machine.

      right? so far ive found it can do some gems, ironically i have the easiest time cutting sapphires with the set up as it is. it may not be the best but i think it works for learning for sure
