In this video I walk you through the process of cladding my garden room with tongue and groove British cedar cladding.
Two tolls that make this job much easier are a chop saw and a 2nd fix nail gun. You can see the ones I recommend below:
2nd fix nail gun: amzn.to/3YD0rn0 - This is the nail gun I use in the video
Chop saw: amzn.to/44dmZvw - This is a modern version of the one I use in the video

Also, would anyone like plans? If enough people ask in the comments, I will create detailed garden room plans to follow and build your own.
Wow, that cladding looks superb. The trim around the window is very nicely done. I've really enjoyed watching through these videos, they are extremely well put together.
Looks fantastic
Yeah I’m pretty happy with how it turned out
Very good. Thanks
Thank you too!
Great job.
Thanks John glad you like it
Well done Carl. Looking absolutely brilliant. I have lots of questions.
1. Will you have to treat the Cedar so it lasts?
2. Was it expensive to do the rear in Cedar? I'm thinking of doing what you did, but I've seen some people use a cheaper material on the backs of their garden rooms, like metal.
3. What are you planning to do next? The inside?
Hi James, thanks for the compliment, Im very happy with it.
1. The cedar would last without treatment, but it will grey, so Im using Osmo UV protect oil, your meant to let it weather for a few weeks before applying so hoping to apply it soon as this cladding was done a few weeks ago.
2. The entire room cladding was around £1500, so I guess the back would have cost around £450, as it is about 30% of the total surface area, I did consider box profile sheeting, but I just felt more confident in my ability to do the cladding better, as I never worked with the metal sheeting before. Although, I do see lots of people using it and it looks decent. If I used more expensive clading I may have used it to bring the cost down.
3. Honestly the room is 95% complete, Im using it as a gym for the last week, so I need to pull my finger out and post more videos 🤣.
Next videos will be painting, skirting board, adding rubber flooring, guttering and I will probably do a big timelapse of the whole project.
Stay tuned 😉
It loos very nice. Thanks for sharing this video. What size and type of nails did you use for your cladding ?
Glad you enjoyed it. The nails used were 50mm angled brads for my 2nd fix nail gun
lovely
Thanks
I’m about to start my own garden room and have studied many different TH-cam videos on their construction, and I have to tell you that yours is by far the clearest and best. Thank you
Best of luck. Im glad you like the videos
Hi Carl, love the work! I was wondering which tongue and groove profile you purchased and the width of the wood?
Hi Simon, it was 135mm. I ordered from a company called Iwood and the profile was called IWC1
Hi, great job! Where did you get the corner trims?
I got them the same place as the cladding. Compay was called Iwood
Looking really nice! (Visiting following on a recommendation by Rag 'n' Bone Brown)
Thanks mate really appreciate the visit
Looks great. Looking at the British cedar for mine, where did you get yours from?
