This is an old video. My views have changed. Thanks for watching.
Am not surprise the number of children are growing.
To have a private teacher in Ghana is luxury. Let alone an entire American.
You not just giving them English lessons. You are giving them exposure which can never be bought.
Thank you so much ❤🙏 We are so grateful.
Thank you E.S. for your sage wisdom! My beloved mother used to say, "No matter where you go you take you with you. You cannot run and you cannot hide from yourself."
I say this all the time! No matter where you go you cant hide from yourself. You cant our run yourself even if you are Hussein bolt lol
Africa is not a place to play around with. It’s not easy to live there but, yet, it is, with the right mindset.👍🏾😊❤
Agree
Let patience have her perfect work..... patience has her own reward😊❤😊
I'm dealing with my issues here and now, patience.,..yes ma'am..,
I love it, I want more content!!!! Let's Talk about it!!!!!
1. Question,.....why is Transparency so hard for the African continent (people)...let's just call a thing a thing, I live in Chicago in the hood, (westside) and you always have your gorilla suit in at all times, people are grimey here, have I gotten robbed at gunpoint (no)... because I have my pistol, when I come to Africa, I'm going to be happy, but I also know to be aware is to be alive, will I get robbed their, I highly doubt it, because I Kno me, and my mindset, I think if you research and study, and be patient, and call a thing a thing good, bad, or indifferent, you will prosper. If I can live in Holly springs Mississippi, and covert Michigan with dirt roads, and a out house I can live in Africa
Peace and blessings to you E.S, and VinnMan for being honest and Transparent, you don't Never have to put Sugar in the Ice Tea for Denise, just give it to me straight no chaser ....
Peace and blessings
And Much Respect 💯
Mad love for you both

It's a blessing that Vim Man knows so much about almost everything!! He is a blessing.
100% E.S., I've been watching your video's for some time now, (back in Egypt is when I started) I've seen that drama that you went through a year ago, but as our great ancestor Maya Angelou said, "Still I rise..." I've been living here in South Africa, (SA) from Cali., for a 1yr.1/2 , and I really love it. I don't plan on returning back to the States to live, but like you. I love my other home country The USA. We helped, build that place, so I will never disown The States, it's a beautiful place. People stop the ignorant childish questions, such as do Africans like
African-American. Who gives a "FUCK" if they do or don't, just come here and live your life, with respect. Don't come here trying to change anything about their culture, Stay in your lane. This is our place/home, just as much as the people born on the continent. Also, as E.S. stated, it requires a lot of money, time and patients. Keep your circle extremely, extremely small. Much Love! E.S. and your husband...P.S. Respect, Respect, and Respect. African-American we are so, so, SO! different from any other group of people. Stop the BS, come here and sit your ass down. Be quit, and move in silence. No one likes us, no matter where we live, but again, I truly don't give a "FUCK" I'm not trying to be excepted by anyone. "I AM THAT I AM"
That scandalous drama happened almost 3 years ago. 😀 I like your comment.
Wow! 3yrs ago, I saw everything live when it was happening.
THIS💯💛🕯️
@F Jam you have said so much - so much WISDOM. Blessings! Keep inspiring…that’s what we BP worldwide need ❤
@@OpinionatedNomadChannel Thanks for the nice Compliment, Opinionated African.
This is probably the best video I’ve seen on this topic and glad you said it’s a DIFFERENT country, cultures, etc. Too many of us have been filled with this idea that we are going to our “homeland” and expect open arms. 🤦🏿♀️ Ghana is a diverse nation that looks amazing but one must be respectful and open minded to their customs. That honestly should go for moving to any country. You have a lovely home. Thanks for speaking the truth.
Because Africans like Burna Boy sell it like it’s home. Let’s not act like Americans are getting that idea out of thin air.
Girl, where did you find this guy at? He is taking care of all hard labor with so much ease.
Well he's a man so...

@@Liy___444 ha!
wow!!! I just learned an important lesson from your husband. When I have an annoying problem I will fix it right away and then exsert myself physically, so that I can make the mental shift and not dwell on the problem. When he was exercising in the rain I was like ooooooooo okay... no problem should knock me down. Thank you guys I adore you!
Daughter I have been following your since you arrived on the continent, and saw what you went through. The abuse and your loss was horrendous, however you came through and continued building in a different environment. Continue with your dreams you are blessed
Thank you. 💕
Afrika is the best!!! Find some land and anchor in! It’s so easy to live there and no property tax! Plus the schools are the best!
@@DIYHOUSEANDFARM. Which region are you?
I am so proud of you sis 💓 💗
@@DIYHOUSEANDFARM Can I ask why you didn’t just move to Nigeria? It has less problems and much more developed.
Its refreshing to hear some speak of how, they are adjusting through the unfamiliar, to get to a place of less resistance. Love it.
E.S. so glad God sent Vim into your life to help support you through the setback. Yes, lost a lot, but what you lost and the obstacles [people] that were removed cleared the way for an abundance of blessings and restoration of all that was lost 100 times over. Keep living your dream 😊

Yeah. He seems sweet.
You said “Do you want me to make more content like this” I would definitely love for you to make more content like this. I just recently thought about moving to Africa one day (years later after I’ve done my research, learned the language/culture and EVERYTHING!) So I’ve been watching videos about people sharing their experience and it’s helpful for people to tell the unfiltered truth even if someone gets their feelings hurt because if people are sugar coating the truth and pretending like everything is perfect then whenever other people move to Africa and start having problems then they will feel deceived. The truth needs to be told so people can prepare mentally, spiritually and financially so you can have a better chance at succeeding instead of being blind sided. I know that even with all my preparation I still might not be ready for the harsh reality that I might face in Africa but I can say the younger version of me who was not mentally, spiritually or financially stable definitely would not have made it in Africa and probably would’ve came back to America but as I continually raise my consciousness the more I know that I am ready to go and the wiser I become. God is preparing me for the journey while I am here in America so unlike most people who might have rushed to Africa and went back home because they didn’t prepare enough I can learn from them and try not to make the same mistakes that they made and possibly have a successful experience but in reality everything in life has pros and cons so I don’t expect it to be all sunshine and rainbows thanks to honest testimonies from people like you I can at least be more prepared and educated.
Visit the country you would want to relocate to first. In Kenya we have made it easier for foreigner😂(as if I was one of the policy makers) we have made it Visa free. Come check it out if you like it good for you. You are welcome
Giving them the real deal tea about being in Ghana. Customs around time and conversations. Blackouts, infrastructure differences, connected wifi that is not what you will be used to. You have to slow down and process indeed to thrive there. Kudos to you! Love seeing the continued growth.
ghana is a shithole..anybody young person born in America to go live in Ghana has a problem. everything you said is true and I was there for few months
I was a big old seed and the rain came and our creator showed you what you made of… loved that!!
Thanks for sharing the truth some people think Africa is dirt poor but Africa is one of the richest countries in the world we have to emancipate our minds from mental slavery only we can do it for ourselves thanks again sister for your amazing videos ❤🎉🎉🎉🇯🇲💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽
Continent not country….. thanks.
Africa is a continent ; not a country !
I think it was a typo! Let it go
@@OpinionatedNomadChannel😂😂😂right?
This is a great video. I moved to Merida Mx in 2021. I built a home and now purchasing more property on an island. It was a struggle but I kept moving forward. It was not easy and it was many times I was ready to leave. But I had a goal and that was building generational wealth.
I love your mindset. Living in Africa presents challenges that most diasporans find exceedingly challenging to navigate. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Not at all. Not the case. No property tax. You can still even buy oceanfront affordable. The schools are the best in the world. Best place to raise a family. Yea the continent is the best.
Not all African countries, South Africa is easiest country to live in Africa and don't share the same struggles, South Africa is a 3rd world on page but 1st on real life
@@kevinreezygaming16:15 A lot of comments in another video said that's where the most crimes are south Africa
Love this! Finally someone speaking my language... she gets it and she knows what (we) are expecting and she also knows the adversities that we are going to run into. I needed to know that there are women like her, there, in Ghana with a synonymous mindset--thereby, allowing me to feel like this is possible. Thank you
We are around the world. Let Spirit guide you to her.
You are so on point with your analysis. As a Nigerian in UK,🇬🇧 I identify greatly with all points as stated. If you’re not ready to rough it up then don’t embark on that journey to mother land.😅👍🏾
Hi Sis, regardless of why you went to Ghana. Regardless of what happened and how it happened. Everyone is on their own path/journey and everyone is at their own level of consciousness. It certainly sounds like you learned to be patient while you stayed focused. You also learned flexibility as things changed quickly, so that life wasn't just happening to you...which is when you become a victim of circumstances. That's certainly not you. You've been living, learning and most importantly growing. And I'm here for it and enjoying the journey just like all the rest. Keep up the good work Sis!
Damn, Sis!!! You had some sh-thangs and gems to drop in this episode! 🤣 It goes to show that a major paradigm shift is something we must absolutely be prepared for in our Ghana/Africa relocation plans. Thank you for the wisdom and inspiration! 💪🏾♥️🖤💚💛
Speaking from the heart! Powerful stuff. More content like this, please.
Thank you, sis, for being real, real. Much appreciation for your honesty on the real living, navigating, and understanding the cultural of living in Ghana.
What you said it’s the truth !
Especially people who grew up in the USA and never traveled before coming to Africa 👀they are really Shocked!!! People who grew up in the Caribbean like myself it’s easier for us because there are a lot of similarities so it’s an easier transition.
I am proud of you and your husband accomplishments
Just looking at the animals and garden gives me the zen feeling I had growing up in the country with my grandparents in 🇯🇲
Keep up the good work ❤❤
I'm aways looking forward watching and learning from you both. Much love ❤️
I'm glad you did not give up. I had never considered living in Africa before watching your videos. You are living large. Keep it up, ES!

OMGGGG! I am so glad to find your channel sis! I have been married to my AMMMAAZZIINNGG Nigerian husband for 10 yrs. Fortunately that not until TODAY, I have thrown all those (I am ready to leave “THIS AMERICA” thoughts away HUNTTIE!) First of all, thank you for keeping 💯. Secondly, thank you for inspiring me. Even though, I am not moving to Ghana, I am going back to my country (Panama) to build a new life now that I am an empty nester. Third, you are absolutely right, any developing country is going to be challenging to adjust. I am Panamanian, but very much americanized. It takes massive amounts of patience to get things done if you don't have unlimited amounts of money to bribe people so they can do their jobs in a timely manner. It is sad, but that's just the way it is.
You all have done an amazing job on your land. You are absolutely beautiful, and your husband is fine as wine.😅❤❤

Love your transparency in this video. Keeping it real is the best way. Your volunteer work with the kids is very generous. You might need to build a school hose😂😂❤.
This was the best content I've seen about the diaspora back to the continent....please continue...and you are doing such a great job! May the Most High continue to bless you and your man.
Good to share your philosophy. People bring their expectations with them and find disappointment because they never contemplated differences. This is my 9th year in South America and I watch expats come and bring their lack of understanding and many don't last because they cannot adjust (not willing to do the work, as you are speaking). Bringing so-called first world expectations to developing nations leads to disappointment often. It's more than a notion. That culture shock is part of one's education and it's all a lesson for growth, IMHO. I love that saying, 'wherever you go, you take yourself with you.' Thanks!
Why is this thee best message in a video about moving and living expectations? Thank you! 🙏🏽👑 This was so unexpected and amazing. ♥️
Awesomely valuable content today.
No matter where you go you take yourself with you and wherever you go will be what it is ... and it is just that, only that. 🍃🍏✌🏽
I stumbled on your channel .I love it . I've been coming to Afrika for 5 years I've been coming to the Gambia and you are so correct I. What your saying . I've always said that they speak 3 different English languages but they still don't really understand America English. I love what your doing I will start following you guys now thank you
I have to say, I’m in the UK & I’ve come across that passive “that’s not possible” attitude, abuse, forced contact & witchcraft included, it’s been really really hard. I got my anything is possible attitude from my East African grandmother.
On the lighter end of the spectrum having to deal with people wanting to cut corners often too.
Healing is not easy & I’m happy to hear you’ve made progress. Your home looks beautiful.
Ps. Forgive me if you didn’t mean this, but there’s also a difference in approach between forced labour & not.
Pps. I don’t think it’s simply a question of leadership or ridiculously obvious corruption either but I’d love to hear more about your experiences.
Going on my 5th year being with my husband from Ghana and when you spoke on the truth culture I knew I found a familiar mind. It’s the number one struggle we’ve had 😊 🇬🇭
Your compound is very nice. You are doing the right thing. Learn the language and keep putting your stamp down. Your husband gotcho back you know Ghanaians are very loyal people. Oh my gosh those kids are wonderful. This is amazing
This was beautiful. I love the we you speak, clearly and consciously. I also love how you were very honesty and accountable.
I liked this particular content because of my personal experience that keeps me watching. I fell in love with a Dagomba Royal, but time showed me he was after my bag. It was very disappointing to say the least. So, I enjoy watching what you build as a dream that failed for me. I can still build a dream here in the USA, just the cultural flair will be missing. God has a plan 😊 to inspire my future efforts. I enjoy your content, thank you!
Sorry to hear that Paula. I understand that disappointment coming out of Dagomba land very well.
Aww sorry, try another as good ones still around. Never lose hope

Just one more suggestion for water catchments: get the finest netting fabric to cover the barrels to keep mosquitoes from becoming a nuisance. Also try to use lots of mosquitoe repellent plants around the property like local plants used as repellent or lemongrass, eucalyptus trees, peppermint, rosemary, tea trees to name a few, and as are available to you.
Yes he’s yes yes yes!!’ This resonates so much. Every single word that came out of your mouth hit a keynote inside of me and I’m sure many others as well. It’s like leaving Kansas going to the wizard of oz and then you find out that the wizard never had the answer. The answer was always inside of you.
Exactly.
This was such a great straight no chaser video! So many gems! We’ve seen your growth and evolution of what you’ve been willing to share and I’m sure there is more that wasn’t shared. Moving to Africa is indeed a journey that requires infinite patience but will be worth it in the end. Thanks for posting…
It's been a while since I've seen a video. I completely agree with what you've said. I've lived in Ghana for 3ish years and I had to learn to sit my "American" down to tell her to move out the way. Your new place is beautiful and I wish you continued success.
Girl, this is so real and appreciated as I strandle between the decision of staying or taking that leap. Me knowing myself, might not be up for the shift. Thank you
I just love it when you said, BE YOUR OWN ORIGINAL SELF. Going through the rites of passage is what living in the Motherland is for diasporans. What comes to mind is WE NEED A WHOLE LOT OF PATIENCE, in order for diasporans, in particular, to deal with our trauma. I love what you brought out in your 'Lessons of life' tips for adjusting to an environment such as Africa, if you were molded by a western system. E.S., thanks for sharing your journey. I think this topic is very helpful 🙏🏽
Very much so! Thank you!
@@DIYHOUSEANDFARMyour advice is very introspective. Great job and I have a feeling that you can write a book. What got me was when you said when we get to a developing country, just sit and listen to ourselves. Things won't be done like back in our home countries and sometimes that's ok. I really enjoyed this video and your presentation is absolutely phenomenal. Well done again and good luck to all your endeavors. Like someone said, time is a good teacher.

Hello, Beautiful Sistar Queen, ES. I have been following your journey since Love Eat…and stay inspired by your authenticity, resilience, courage, determination, growth, and thriving. I am grateful that the Creator put you and your hubby together and how you both love each other and work together to live out your dreams. It’s beautiful and reminds me of my fiancé, Calvin, and I. We retired in 2021 and moved to The Gambia in November 2021. We are both Spiritually grounded, awakened, and self aware and have experienced much of what you talk about. Listening to your and other repatriates experiences has been invaluable with our transition and helped us to avoid a lot of fuckery (and you know what I mean). TY so much. Moving to Africa has been a life changing adventure. We are grateful for it all. There are lots of repats here and we have built/continue to build a beautiful community. We purchased land and had the desire to build but have decided to take our time and not loose money dealing with fuckery. The right builder and situation has not presented. When/if it does, we may move forward. Until then, we mindfully and intentionally continue to choose our people, places and things and live our best lives…Spirit, soul, mind, body and purse! Keep living, loving, and shining, King & Queen! Love & Light👑🙏🏾😘❤️
Thank you my sweet sis. You get it and chose the perfect word. #fuckery and how to avoid it at all costs! I am beyond elated to hear of your progress. Please keep us updated! Blessings.🥰🤗 😆🙏👌💕

Good talk! One of the greatest lesson that I learned over the years is that Life is not without conflicts, even within a spiritual community, they are all kinds of conflicts and dramas going on among members . We are living in an imperfect and problematic world, and it doesn't matter where we go; we will face different types of challenges. But we must learn to create a mental and spiritual space where we can find inner peace to keep us balance and focus.

I applaud you. I would love to move to Africa. But I have no idea where to start.
thank you for this video I know I'm not ready and I've spent my money
I agree with what you're saying about African-Americans for the most part. I'm African-American, and I've been living in Japan for a decade now. The culture here is to avoid uncomfortable things and conflict, so people typically don't tell their most direct, deepest/realest feelings, even to their foreign partners (much to the frustration of many foreigners). Some are different, but this is the general culture. But living in so different a culture for so long, even before I came here, I'm someone who keeps my expectations in check. I expect the worst and hope for the best. I'm currently debating buying an old abandoned house in the Japanese countryside someday or moving to Ghana. I was leaning more towards Ghana, but I've leaned back towards Japan recently.
I was raised in the South. We're bred different down there. Your manners had better be on point. The respect had better be on deck. HOWEVER, the expectation is that it'll be returned. Trust, Japanese folks will constantly remind you that you're an outsider, especially if you're black. But I learned from growing up in the South: Not everyone wants you somewhere. And it is what it is. I'm not like "certain" people who come over here expecting to have things their way. But, at the end of the day, that doesn't mean people can disrespect you. I keep my head down, mind my business, work, pay my taxes, and enjoy my life. I'm not the ingratiating type. So, if I moved to Ghana, it'd be to continue my peaceful, private life, just there. But I'd hate if someone disrespected me when I don't come with disrespect.
please tell us more about Japan when it comes to their acceptance of AAs..my daughter wants to live in Japan so bad
I am visiting Ghana in October. I will make several trips before I make any decisions to move.
Brilliant and visionary. You are a rare gem worthy of emulation. Stay well and blessed
I saw your video, I'm African and I lived in the diaspora for many years and when I returned home I felt the same as you, not because I changed but because I thought I would find the society of my country the same, but it changed for the worse, as far as friendship is concerned in Africa you make friends easily and on the spot, but a man telling a woman he wants to be her friend shows an interest in going further you know what I mean then a woman if she has no interest should reject quickly and without a doubt and the man gives up and respects the decision
Excellent insight and personal sharing beginning at 12:35 !!! Praise god for your wisdom in sharing and your authenticity! I am grateful for it Sis!♥
